Just seen your message that you posted in 2003 ,I have the Newarks that you mention in my tree. I have only just started doing my tree.Johns wife name Sarah barber. William Newark was my gg granfather.

Maybe you can help me? Who is your decendant?

In more recent times, was there a dtr anywhere named Agnes Newark? She was born on 18 Apr 1890 and married a man named Frank Moore. I know nothing else about them ( my grandparents).

hi scott, does job newark have any connection with james b1839 from suffolk uk and his descendants who were born in michigan from 1881 onwards. in 1880 james was a farmer in eaton, michigan. best wishes karen

hi alan, my family of newarks came from belton and burgh castle and my great, great, grandnother's brotgher james went to canada and then eaton, michigan, us do you of them. another of my mother's family came from the gorbals and before that paisley they are blacks form the clan lamont. best wishes karen

I forgot to mention that I have John Newark born c1830 to 1894.
I don't know much about his parentage. I have him with his family on 1861 & 1871, I can't seem to find him on the earlier censuses...

Hi Michael, Sorry I now know that the Wiliam that was stated as the father on the marriage certificate was indeed a mistake, because the address given on the marriage certificate belongs to her brother William Newark he was also one of the Witnesses. William was born in West Bromwich and became a Postman. I'd also found my Great Grandmother Annie Newark (no middle name given) was Christened 25th July 1869 @ Saimt Marks, Birmingham & daughter of John & Mary Newark. John was the Carpenter and he was born in Coventry. Mary was born in West Bromwich also. so that also makes John deceased at the time of marriage.

George Newark his wife Mary née Cook and their six children (one boy, five girls) immigrated to Iowa in the USA from Grimsby, Lincolnshire, England sometime shortly after 1838. There they became closely related by marriage to a New York State family named Padgham (see http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~newark/default.htm click on "articles" then choose "Grimsby Newarks"). Hello I believe the William Newark you mention is William Hanbury Newark (1840-1904) married to Sarah Ann Loveitt. They had a daughter Annie Gertrude Newark born 1868, chr 1869. I have done quite a bit of research on "Coventry" Newarks (as distinct from "East Anglia Newarks" from whom I am descended). I am working on a history of the guests of the Miles City Club, Montana's oldest social club, started in 1884.

In the guest register for Mayy 22, 1886 their appears the signature of Guy E. Newark showns as from Newark, N.J.

If you have gathered information regarding him, I would appreciate it if you would share it with me.

Hello, concerning my previous posting of a message I mentioned that my Grt Grdmother was the daughter of John & Mary, it looks as though i was wrong according to her April 1895 marriage certificate which states that her fathers name was William who was a Carpenter of St Mark's parish in Birmingham, Warwickshire, UK. William was stated as deceased at time of the marriage.

HI Alan,
I am not Agnes -- she is deceased -- but I am her granddaughter. That side of my family is very quiet about anything regarding family history. Agnes married a Frank Moore ( my grandfather) and later he divorced her because of her mental illness, effectually abandonning the children. The children, including my mother, had a very difficult childhood. All I really know is that they lived in and around Allegheny and Washington Counties in Pennsylvania - the Pittsburgh area. Frank was a coal mine supervisor or superintendent, something like this.

No, I don't know Newark News! What is it? I know there were two branches of Newarks from England, the "Burgh of Newark" group and another.

And that's it! I would greatly appreciate any help!

I am 47, a Scot from Paisley, and am of the Hoxton, London line. We have cousins in the Yarmouth area and I once received a photo from a retired Burgh Castle lady whose late husband was a dead ringer for my grandfather, Jim Newark (born 1906, Bethnal Green, London).

My gm, Agnes Newark married Frank Moore and they lived in and around the Pittsburgh area. I know next to nothing about either of them. Apparently there were 2 lines of Newarks that come to the US from England; one is the Newarks of Burgh Castle and the other were exiles or outcasts of some sort. 1875 Geography text of Russie Morris Dusenberry of Newark, NJ

Hi list,

My sister just sent me this book as a late birthday present, entitled Guyot's New Intermediate
Geography, published by Scribner, Armstrong and Company of New York in 1875. Inside is a
note in ink, stating Washington Street Grammar School, 2nd grade, Teacher's Desk. However,
inside the front cover are the pencil written numbers, alphabet and signature of Russie Morris
Dusenberry of either 292 or 311 Halsey Street, Newark, NJ ( the number appears to have been
changed at some point, though the repeat of the signature and address on the back inside cover
states 292).

She knows I love things old, but I think this would mean a whole lot more to a family member, so I
am offering it up to anyone who can claim the individual named herein. She purchased it at Peddlar's
Villiage, in Lahaska, Pa, in case that helps someone trace its origin. A long shot, I know, but I've
realized, I've got plenty of neat old stuff already. <g>
