I'll be glad to help. I've been working on this family for 35 years and I have huge amounts of info. You may contact me at wnewman106@aol.com, but a short version is that you are related to Daniel Boone through Lu Emma's husband, Huram Newman. The name was originally Newnham from one of the 12 Newnham villages, probably the one in Kent, England. I am descended from Huram's brother, Richard Morris Newman (1862-1919) through Richard's son Dillard Newman (1904-1990) through his son, William Newman Sr (1929-1994) to me William Newman, Jr. Contact me and let me know how you are related.

Can you help me trace these people back to Daniel Boone? I am 10 years old and very interested in how I am related to Daniel Boone. We are Newmans from Michigan, the farthest back we can go right now is through Luem Angel. We would appreciate any help you could give. thanks!

The work i have done is pretty extensive, I will be glad to send you what i have, but it will be about 3 weeks before i can do it as my wife & i are going to visit some of our friends.I woud have to have an address to send it to as it is to much to send over the net. My mother is a Newman.Her fathers name was Grant Newman,his wife was Martha Brandenburg.
They lived in Yellow Rock Ky. in Lee County Ky.Grants mother was a Estes and she was about a 5th great grandaughter of DANIEL Boone,her name is in the Daniel; Boone Musime in Pa.
I have a pretty good folder on them going all the way back to Devonshire England.

Researching the "Newnam" Family and their ties to a number of families.
As found on his gravestone, in the Newnam Family graveyard outside of Pebworth Kentucky. John Newnam Sr.married Leah Scholl, the granddaughter of Daniel Boone. This line of Newnam's married into the Goe,Durbin,Tincher, Steele,Cornet,Frame,Venable,Estes and Angel families.

Lu Emma Angel (1878-1912) married Huram Newman 7-16-1894 at Brice Burns' house in Lee Co., KY. She was the daughter of Surilda Angel (1856-1903) and possibly J.H. Farmer. What article are you referring to?

per my gg grandmother's obit, susan m newman, in galveston, tx, she was born in spencer co, ky and she had 3 siblings; john e newman, who became a judge; william, who was a doctor, a sister married w. r. grigsby and another sister married charles hayden.
My gg grandmother was born in 1826 and married leander cannon. The siblings come up with different parents, I would like to find out her parents.

Wife of Johann Gerhart Neumann is Anna Margaretha Moersfelder on 15 April 1738 in Mannheim, Germany His father was Johann Peter Neumann of Mannheim and Kreigsfeld area in Germany,LDS Film #193924. I looked at the film and it was hard to read, faded and in old german script. I found it by looking at familysearch.org and searched for Johann Gerhart Neumann
We have corresponded before.

I was recently given a link to the 1940 Census. I found that Edwin Newman your father lived at 1195 Franklin St. in Johnstown. He was 20 at the time? It also lists him as a laborer for "Forest project." Don't know what that is.
Siblings are May, Osman, Pauline and Joseph. It also lists a Olin Hilman as the housemaid.

I haven't done enough research to know if Caleb Newman/Patsy Hancock are related to John newman or not. At this point I can't confirm that this Caleb, m. 1809 is the father of Joel and Caleb Newman who were both married to sisters in the 1840's but I'm guessing he may be.

Hi, I found your posting interesting. I am working on a Joel Newman line who had a brother Caleb. I was given data that Joel married a ? Greathouse, that she died and Joel then married Jerusha Jerome. But the dates and places I have are different. Joel was born 1771 and married the Greathouse abt 1790. He died in 1849 in Lima, New York. From what I know, he was never in Indiana.

I am trying to find parents of these two. I am assuming they are bros. but do not have verification. Both married Greathouse sisters in 1840's. Joel had 3 children: Johnathan Wesley, Mark, Isabelle. Am new to this specific rootsweb board, as I am now able to devote some time to extension of my NEWMAN line back to our immigrant WALTER NEWMAN (1655-ca. 1929). Right now, I am "stuck" in verifying the parents of my THOMAS NEWMAN (d. 1806 in Salem County SC). Have been told his parents were SAMUEL NEWMAN (1735-1795) and EVE CASTLEBERRY (1738-1794), but all websites do not show a Thomas as being one of their children.

There are so many of you that are far more knowledgable than I am. Could you NEWMAN "cognoscente" be so kind as to guide me? Thanks very much in advance.

Ok so the story goes that my great, great grandfather came over from Germany in 1872 or 1873. I have his petition of citizenship and it says he arrived in 1873. He applied for citizenship in October of 1876. He arrived in that states with a brother named William. He was with him and signed the for him along with a Frederick Smith on his petition. From New York, Augustus(August)ended up in Howard, then Milesburg, PA where he married a Susannah Imel. This is as far back as our family tree on the Newman side can be traced and I'm stumped. I do know prior to his arrival from how his brother signed that they previously went by the spelling Neumann or Newmann. Its a bit scratchy to read. Any help to find Augustus or Williams info would be great.

Johann Conrad Neumann was born on 1 April 1744 in Mannhiem, Germany, Johann Gerhart Neumann was born in 1723 as far as I have found out.

Hi,
Family history notified me that I had a message
about the Newman Surmmname. I think they got their Bobbies
mixed up. I do have the Newman surname in my family,
my Newmans are in Washington, D.C.. John Andrew Newman and
his wife Mary Ossel Newman. John died at age 71 in D.C. on Jan. 26, 1900
and Mary died at age 79 on Nov. 14, 1911 in D.C. I do not know
of any siblings for these two people. they were both born in Germany.
If you see any connection please let me know and I will keep
your information and if I find any connection I will let you know.
