Fatama Jane Newton was the sister of my paternal grandfather, William Leonard Newton. I see that you posted your message on 12/13/2001 so not sure your info is correct at this time. I am a direct descendant of Eber Myers and Elenor Borgordier. I am looking for any information regarding Elenor as her parentage is a complete mysterey. I'm thinking that the spelling of her surname is incorrect or was changed. I have in my records that she was born in 1816 in Palmyra, Wayne, New York. If you have any information concerning who her parents or siblings are I would so appreciate it.

My Great Grandfather settled in Georgia after fleeing from Scotland. He married a woman who was half Creek and half English. Her name was Nancy. His name was Greenberry McDaniel. They had 3 children, Tom, Mary, and Tandy who was my grandfather. Tandy Herman McDaniel married Rose Elizabeth Keeling.

Happy to meet a fellow RBN descendant! I, too, live in the US, but I was born here. Both of my parents were born in Argentina and moved to the US back in the 1950's. Richard Blake Newton would be my Great Great Grandfather. My family are descendants of RBN's oldest son Richard Newton.
The information you provided regarding Sir Isaac Newton is very interesting and something I was not aware of.

Yes, things did get difficult. One of the family "funnies" is that one of the older sisters was teach a younger the books of the Bible. She recited, "Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John." Just then, someone else called from the kitchen, "What will we do when the beans are gone?" From a difficult time, great laughter has passed down the generations.

My sister Sharon Wilson and I are Emma Bills great-granddaughters. We had no idea the Newtons were from New York, though we should have had. We have pictures of so many of the folks mentioned in the series of posts--Stilman, Merle, Cordelia Louisa--Pamelia Sophia (or, Parmelia?). The sisters were Cordelia Louisa, Samantha Mariah, Almira Lavina, Pamelia Sophia--all with the "i" of the second name prounounced as a long i and accented.

We are so glad to have confirmed the relationship with the Richards girls, Cordelia Louisa's stepdaughters, but we have plenty of pictures of them! We have letters to Emma from Myrtle, but for some reason calling herself Bills at that point. Did she marry one of her step-brothers?

There is also a family history that there is Native American blood from upstate New York. Would you know anything about that?

We are so, excited. We had a letter from one of our mother's cousins, a Jerry Newton, who said we were related to Mary Chilton, but we had not been able to re-establish the contact with Jerry to find out what the link was. My husband is also descended from Mary Chilton. I hope that doesn't frighten our children.

That is great news. Seems my Newton line from Ebenezer is full of pastors who did not participate in the revolution or, most disgracefully, "the war" later, but other lines of the family did. I received excellent news yesterday. I tried to join the DAR under Capt. Benjamin Newton. The only referece I had was the book by Posey Downs, which had too many mistates in the book, the DAR wouldn't except that as reference. Also, the census for another Grandfather was incorrect. I did join the DAR under my mother's side of the family. I had a wonderful lady come into my life. She is a certified genealogist from NC. She is one of only six certified genealogist in the state of NC. She had read my post. She had the proof I needed. I received the news yesterday that my supplement for Capt. Benjamin Newton was excepted. Now others can join the DAR under Capt. Benjamin Newton and his son George. Sherry

I went down that same road, and I believe it is false. There are name similarities that lead one in that direction, but I have seen no positive connection between Ebenezer's father and Benjamin Newton of Westmoreland. And the Westmoreland-NewHaven disconnect weighs heavily against the possibility of a connection. I feel certain that they are relying on similar names, that's all. It's a "nice try" but unsubstantiated in my book without more info/proof. The Allerton line is so well recorded/documented that there should be no ambiguity here. Whereas with Ebenezer, it's not a shocker that we don't know anything re his father if he came from England/Scotland; you'd almost expect such. Lots of lines end at that point, with the person who came from Europe but without any recorded information on him/her. My mother's line is exactly the same, all proof ending in the mid-1700's at the person suspected of coming from Ireland. Same re my paternal grandmother, also mid-1700's. Alex

I got info from other trees that states Ebenezer's father was Benjamin Newton of Westmoreland County, VA the son of John Newton and mother was Rose Allerton of the Allerton of the Mayflower. Benjamin's wife was Margaret McCurdy, both died in Scotland. I can't figure out how he was born in New Haven. Wish I can find proof of this. Sherry

Everything that you say is exactly what I've found elsewhere. Thomas Newton, born 1763 in York County, PA was Captain Benjamin's brother and he is my fourth great grandfather. Rev. John Newton, born 1791 near Charlotte, was Thomas' son and my third great grandfather. Too bad no one seems to know anything about Ebenezer's father and mother except that his father almost certainly came from England or Scotland and ended up in New Haven, either brining his wife with him or finding his wife in New Haven. Don't forget Capt. Benjamin Newton his father was Ebenezer Newton and his Mother was Elizabeth Buchanan. Ebenezer was born in New Haven, CT. Lived in York County, PA. Married Elizabeth there. Moved to NC with Capt. Ben. I decend from Capt. Benjamin. He is my 5th great grandfather.

Yes we are and I am older than you and Rev John Newton is five generation back threw Fidelia Newton who married John S Fall in 1807 and had one son John Newton Fall who went to texas and he was a MD. Fidelia died in 1810. jo ann

Yes, I'm looking for Newton information. My great great grandfather was John S Newton, married to Malinda Jane Hightower in 1820 in Monroe, Tennessee. The census of that year show's him living with Malinda and her family in Monroe county. I have lots of information from that day forward but none to link me to John's family prior to his marriage. Newtons were few and far between here in Northwest Missouri but you're welcome to whatever information I have at my tree named

He was the son of Ebenenzer Newton and Elizabeth Buchanan Newton. His brother was Capt. Benjamin Newton born in York County, Pa. Ebenenzer is my 6th great grandfather. Ebenenzer was born in New Haven, Ct. He died in NC.

The newton famly is known to me. my father was half brother to the caucasian newton family of Concord, Georgia. it was a time of segregation so the two famly never talked about the relatinship then. Now we correspond with several of the cauc. newtons as we call them. We have overcome the prejudice of the old times. our famly history is proud. Roy newton was a good man and was a friend and famly member till his death.

My dad, who gave the sample is not related to any of those Newtons. In fact, there is only one close match to his
y-DNA in the entire database. The match has a different surname and the connection goes back to the colonial period. Interestingly enough, the man my dad matches has no other matches to people with his surname either. My dad's DNA should match the Newtons who moved from MD to KY but none of them seem to be in the project.
