I am interested in whether anybody knows what happened to Frederick Henry Edmund "Harry" Nicholls. He was born on 20th February 1883, the eldest son of Frederick and Emma Nicholls, a master baker of Swansea. He went to Christ College School, Brecon where he was a successful sportsman and a prefect in his last year 1899. In the 1901 Census he was living in Swansea with his step father John Nott Viner Leeder, coroner of Swansea. We think he joined the Army and served in the Great War. The last known of his whereabouts was living in Buenos Aires in 1921. His youngest brother was Capt. Benjamin Ethelbert Nicholls MC and Bar who was KIA in 1918.

The info came from my database. I researched the Nicholls family a few years ago. I think it is fairly accurate but there could be errors. The Nicholls line tied into my Curtis line in the early 1800's in northern Kentucky.

Continue to look for information about John aka Jack Nicholls and or his wife Ivy Francis Nicholls who lived in Penner (England) until the early 1980s. Ivy was the daughter of Mary Ann Ingram Francis and Frank Francis. Mary Ann was the daughter of Alfred Ingram and his wife Sarah Ann Livermore. Jack and Ivy had at least two daughters, Brenda and Joan who could still be living. These people are a huge link to family history I cannot find and I would appreciate any information someone might have. Thanks.

Do you mind telling me what database you found this in? I have been looking for sometime, and some family members tend to try and say Scotland but I thought otherwise that it was England, and yes I figured most didn't live to be a 100 yrs old back then because people didn't live as long as we do now, but I was given that information. Do you have anything about his parents? Thank you for responding to my post.

After looking at my database it appears that the court cryer was the grandson of Simon Nicholls Sr. I have Simon Nicholls Sr. born in England 1642 m. Ann Edmonston (Edmonson?). Son John m. Sarah Edmonson. His son Simon m. Ann Haymond.

From the dates given I would guess that the court cryer was the son of Simon Nicholls Sr. It is very unlikely that a person lived to be over 100 back then.

My connection to the NICHOLLS is through the FRANCIS line. Two of my ggrandfather's brothers married NICHOLLS sisters. I have been told this photo is of David and Martha's daughters, Irene Dorothea Joyce b 1909; Doris Lucy Elsie b 1911 and Ellen Fleurine b 1913. The photo was taken just before Martha died.

I also have a photo of Walter NICHOLLs in uniform and some of Elzabeth & Mary Rosena and their families if you are interested.

He died in Melbourne Austalia about 1917 at Kew and is buried in St Kilda with Margaret. My grandfather Thomas is his son and died at Merton Australia, his date of birth is also unknown about 1895 -1901

Mary Ann Nicholls and John Murray were my gg-grandparents. I have information I can share with you if you like. I also have a family photo of John and Mary Ann with their children. Their daughter Clara Murray Shaffer was my g-grandmother. She passed away in 2002. She told my mother and I many stories.

My grandmother is Dorothy Edith Maslen, also their daughter who is still alive. I am at a dead end with Alice May Nicholls as to her parents etc.. she remarried as well, to a Reg Turner.

I am not sure how much info you have on her but this is what I have.

Birth: Abt. 1893
Death: 1963
Immigrated to NZ between Bet. 1910–1915.
Married: 1913 (to our G Grandfather)
Divorced: 1939

Traveled to the UK in 1937 (when she meet Reg), to 47 Hurston Rd, Sutton, Surrey. (I guess to see family?).

Looks as though you have the Famous side of the John Nicholls Household with Photographers and Film stars.

I am a decendant of Henry Nicholls brother of Arthur.
Their Father was born near Norwich Norfolk but moved to Westminister London (census 1851) They then moved to Cambridge.

I am a decendant of Herbert George Nicholls.
Herbert George moved to Essex and settled in the wickford area.i Believe he was a sttion master at Wickford rail station at somepoint.
He Had 7 children one of which Arold is my father.

There names are
Arthur, Lenard, Harold, Peter, Arnold, Rose, Dorothey.

My Father and Dorothey are alive at the time of writing.
My Father and myself are back in Cambridge.

Their daughter, Winnifred Florence Maslen (d. 1983) was my grandmother.

I believe they divorced and Albert remarried a Maori lady "Moana Marie" (?)

I am looking for help finding any info on my G Grandmother Alice May Nicholls, she immigrated to New Zealand in around 1910 (+/- 3 years).

The only info I have is that she married Albert Edward Maslen in 1913.

Hi Ellen, Your Grace Nicholls was born in 1839 at Illogan (near Redruth), Cornwall, Britain. She died 13 June 1913 at Bowenvale (near Timor), Victoria, Australia. She was buried in the Bowenvale - Timor Cemetery on 16 June 1913. Her marriage to John Henry Chapman took place on 23 October 1854 in the the Wesleyan Chapel Tent - Maryborough, Victoria. I too have Nicholls in my tree my grandmother Blanche was a Nicholls and had connections in Birmingham not sure what part.
Her father George was in the 7th Queens Own Hussars and was stationed in Rangon Burma Granmother was born in 1893 she came back to England by boat HM Rossario and while on board gave birth to a son Thomas Gilbert Taylor 7.2.1912.

I am trying to find info on JAMES NICHOLLS born in Whitehaven, England 1902. He went out to South Africa with his family when young. It was said he ran away from home when he was about 15 and made his way to America. It is believed he married and lived in New York at one stage. He & his wife apparently lived in a high rise appartment and their baby apparently crawled out of the window and was killed. It was said his wife never recovered from the shock.
He did visit his aged mother in Johannesburg in 1948 on his way from Saudi Arabia where he was apparently an engineer for an oil company to USA. I have found him on the New York passenger lists arriving on 4 May 1948. The lists show his last permanent address as Jeddeh, Saudi Arabia. They also show him as giving his final destination as NY. According to the lists he was apparently on his way to visit his son JAMES in the US Army at Fort Bragg, NC.
ANY info or leads on him (or his son James) would be much appreciated.

I have found them in the 1841 census and in the 1851 census if you haven't got this info I can send it to you. I am also looking for the Nicholls family from St Agnes I have a Stephen Nicholls in my tree b between 1786 and 1791 depending on the census you look at who moved to St Breock and raised his family there.

Hi-I've confirmed a few details and identified possible other records, all in Cornwall, England. Garfield North marriage to Polly Nicholls registered in Penzance Apr-May-June 1921.
From 1901 census, Theresa Nicholas,6, Polly Nicholas,5, John E Nicholas,3, children of John P Nicholas 27 born Penzance, farm labourer married to Bessie,32, resident St.Just, Pendeen, Boscaswell.
Marriage at St Buryan 26 Jan 1895, groom John Polson Nichols, 22, labourer,no father recorded, bride Bessie Ann Stone, 26, father Joseph Stone (from parish records on Online Parish Clerk site for Cornwall.)
Baptism at St Buryan 5 May 1895 Thersa Nicholas, father John Polson, mother Bessie Ann.
Pollie Nicholls birth registered July-August-Sept 1896 Cornwall. Polly Nicholas baptised 4th October 1896 St Buryan,father John Polson, mother Bessie Ann.
From 1891 census, John Palson Nichols, 18, farm servant born Madron Cornwall, resident St Buryan.
From 1881 census, John P Nicholas,10, inmate born Penzance, resident Union workhouse ?

Despite the recording of Nicholas in place of Nicholls in several records, the dates/firstnames appear to match closely.

These records suggest John Palson/Polson Nicholls was born around 1871, Penzance.

William Allen Nicholls married Mary Ann Saint, Adelaide, Australia

I am trying to find more info about William and Mary Ann. They had a daughter Anne (Annie) Allen Nicholls in March 1853 at Adelaide, Victoria, Australia. They married shortly after in May 1853 at Christ Church, Nth Adelaide. The marriage record states William was aged 25 and Mary Ann aged 32. It appears they immigrated to NZ about 1861 according to daughter Annie's death cert, that she lived in NZ for 70 years (hence arriving about 1861, aged 8), however, I can find no ship passenger list. Annie married Thomas William Shaw in Sept 1871 at New Plymouth, Taranaki, NZ. Any further info about this family will be much appreciated.
