I belong to one of those lost families, I do know my William Nicholson (GG Grandfather) was born in Wilkes co. North Carolina. My Great Grandfather was born in Kentuckey in 1862, married Callie Cox in Texas and had 17 children, all accounted for. I think but not sure Williams father was Samuel Nicholson Jr. N/C. Samuel Sr can be traced to New York and the ship he came over on. He was married to Ann ? and it ends there........Samuel got a land grand after the war and settled in Wilkes co. North Carolina....But I find my Elias in Ill. living with a cousin...Nicholson didn't stay put for very long at least my side didn't. Eve

Nicholsons in Kentucky

Hi Is there anyone out there researching the Nicholsons in Kentucky. My great grandmother was Eudora(Dora)J. Nicholson. She was born in Ky. She married a Bishop Remus Boyd in Graves Co. in 1891. Her father was James and Sarah Ann Sullivan. James was married to Sarah's sister Cathrine I think and she died and then he married Sarah. I know very little about this family. Where were they living before they came to Graves co. Dora and Remus moved to Colo. in 1906 and he died that year and she remarried and moved to Idaho. Does any of this ring a bell.

Benjamin Nicholson of Cleughbrae/Mousewald, Dumfries, Scotland

I have stumbled upon the family of Benjamin Nicholson of Dumfries, SW Scotland,. I have a hunch that this family may end up connecting to the Clan Macneacail (MacNicol) of Skye, possibly in the 1500s or 1600s.

If anyone has researched this family and can provide more information about Benjamin's ancestors, I would appreciate if you could let me know. Also, if any descendant is participating in any DNA Project, please let me know as this could prove or disprove my theory.

Below is a small part of the information that I have found so far about Benjamin and his descendants. I can't post everything because it seems the editing is removed and the text becomes very difficult to read, but I have quite a bit of information on this family so feel free to contact me with your e-mail and I can send a report.

1-Benjamin Nicholson was born about 1722 in Scotland and died in Dumfries, Scotland.
Benjamin married Janet Friend. They had at least three children: Jonah, John, and (son).
2-Jonah Nicholson, of Mousewald.
Jonah married Anne Carruthers. They had at least two children: (Rev.) Christopher and Jonah.
2-John Nicholson.
John married Mary Ann Smith. They had at least six children: Benjamin, Edward, Christopher,
Agnes, Mary Anne, and Jonah.
2-(son) Nicholson was born in Cleughbrae, Dumfries, Scotland. He married Miss Carruthers.
I don't have much information myself. I'm at a dead end. My relation is through Elisabeth/Elizabeth. She married John Rough - which is where the line continues down. I have Joseph as the son of William Nicholson (married to Ann Crowley?) I have Joseph's DOB as apprx 1847 in Indiana - this is according to the 1860 Warrick Indiana Census. There were four children; John, Joseph,Elizabeth and William. The birth place of William and Ann from the Census says Kerry, Ireland, born approx 1810.
The 1880 census shows William and Ann living near Elizabeth and husband John Rough.
I'm hoping to go further back, but can't see to find any ship records of William and Ann they came over.
I'd love to hear what you have....

My father is Don Renwick from Milton Renwick from Simon(Lincon)Renwick from James Renwick who was married to Nancy Nicholson. I am from (Mason County) Scottville,Michigan. My information about Nancy also stops and I was unable to find the mother and father. If you get any information I would love to have it as well. Good Luck! all I know is the Renwicks came orginally from Dumfries,Scotland then to Ontario, Canada and then Michigan.

I don't know of Russell or Nicholas personally, but I have done a check for births in 1948 for Nicholas Nicholson and there is only one for Nicholas D Nicholson in Durham North Eastern, Durham (mother's maiden name ROWE). I can't see a marriage for Russell Nicholson to a Ms Rowe though. The only pre-1948 marriage for a Russell Nicholson is in 1942 to a Emma Murray in the Northumberland area (no Nicholas born to them though in 1948). Also a Russell Nicholson birth was registered at Hartlepool, Durham in 1923. A Russell Nicholson born 29 Nov 1922 died in North Cleveland Nov 1988. There aren't many Nicholas Nicholsons or Russell Nicholsons, but there are a lot of Nicholsons that may have Russell as a middle name. Sorry, no straight answers but maybe some of this may help.

Hi! Happy Christmas,
I, my brother and one of my 8 sisters have now sorted out most of Joseph Brian Kearon and Mary Anne Waldron's descendents, including the place of death of Margaret Kearon.
We have also begun to sort out NZ relatives!
At this point I am not quite sure who I have given information to. Joseph Kearon's second name "Brian" appears on his headstone in the churchyard of Kilbride Church, Arklow.
My sister-in-law has done much of the work and the four of us are now going to update our work using the other's data and then get toogether to finalise what we have and work together to fill any gaps - it's a marathon we have toiled at for the last 5 years, made especially difficult by the wall of silence we have encountered for parents and others in the family who would not talk of the past!!!!!
Will be able too fill some of your gaps shortly
Barbara Fryday (nee Kearon)

William Kearon is my brother and he & his wife, our sister Valerie and I have been researching the family tree, separately, for some time - we have made much progress and now are putting together our collective results! I will be bringing it all up-to-date in the next few days and wwe will be getting together soon to sort out any discrepancies - it has not been easy as nobody wanted to help us before Mum died in 2006. So, which one of Thomas Kearon's children do you descend from and have you managed to find Thomas' wife and go back further?
Keep in touch
Barbara Fryday (nee Kearon)

Can anyone supply me with the email address of William Kearon of Dublin who is researching the Kearon family, linked to this home in Arklow.

I have been compiling together data on this family, but it would appear that William is the researcher, so therefore I would like to share some details with him on this family plus ask some questions.

Cheers
Cara
