I'm looking for info on my family. my great, great grandpa was Ramon Noriega and he married Jesus Angulo. They were from Arizona. Their son (my great grandpa) was Ricardo Noriega. Ramon's parents were (dad) Dolores Noriega and (mom) Elena Rasares both from Mexico. That's all the info I was able to gather and was wondering if you or anyone might know more? Thank you for your time. - Kyla

We are planning a Noriega Reunion that will possibly be in New York in the summer of 2013. I will keep all of you abreast via an email, just in case we can get more Noriega's to attend. I appreciate the sharing of information on our ancestry. I was not aware of the city we originated from in Asturias, Spain. Thank you for sharing this Andy. I will look up Villaviciosa, Spain. Sal is my first cousin from my Father's sister, Elizabeth in Long Island, New York. My Father's name is Claudius Noriega. There are 9 Brothers and Sisters in total. Some have moved on to a bigger and better place. Most of the first cousins are close from Candido and Maria Noriega. We welcome the other Noriega families to join in on the fun. Please send me your correspondence to carl@great-american.net.
Carl Noriega

Sal,

It is funny, but I just did a search on Candido Noriega Gonzalez, who was my Great Grand Father and your grandfather's uncle, and I found your posting as well as Carl's. I beleive your grandafther and mine were first cousins. I think your great grandfather was either Constatino, or Jose. Maybe you can clarify that. The information I have I is that they came from Villaviciosa, which is town in the are of Asturias in Northern Spain.

It is interesting because I am 47 years old and I used to travel to Ponce PR when I was a kid to visit our relatives there, but never met any Noriega's other than my granfathers Sisters or brother. So it is possible that there were other Noriegas still there during the 60's and 70's.

My last name is Abraham. My mother's maiden name is Noriega. There are Noriegas in other parts of PR, but thay are not all related. It is curious, but I grew up in Rio Piedras and there was a gentleman who lived 4 or 5 blocks from my house. He was the spitting image of my grandfather's brother Luis. So I bet he must have been a descendant of Jose or Constantino.

Anyway Salwe'll caht more later. It is getting late here and I have to get up early.

Andy Abraham

She was my wife's maternal grandmother. Carmen Noriega was probably born in Arizona and married Carmen Moraga (1885-1969) probably around 1910-1913. They lived in Tempe, Arizona the rest of their lives. I believe Carmen Noriega's father was Pedro Noriega (1860-1936) and her mother was Paulino (or Paulina) Posada (1864-????), both born in Mexico. If anyone has further information on Carmen Noriega's family or earlier ancestral lineage, I would love to hear from you.

Felicita was also my great grandmother. I remember visiting her when I was little. She lived close to Rincon's cementery. We use to call her Ma'querida. One of her daughters was my paternal grandmother. Her name was Maria Nemesia Ramos. There were other relatives that lived close by. Their surnames were Ramos Caro. I believe it was a son of Felicita, his wife, and children. Her husband was Crisidio Ramos Quinones. He died before I was born.

Noriega - Voudet

My ancestor, Damaso Noriega, was registered in the draft also under Voudet which means that was probably his mother's maiden name. I know he was born in Cuba and married to Carlota Gonzalez, but that's all I know. And a search for Voudet produces nothing. If anyone has any clue where that name is from, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
