Normandy Invasion World War II

I would like the military records tracing my relatives military career while in Normandy 1944. His name was Bennie Overland; service Number 39538053; Social Security # 550-01-8052; DOB 2/9/1907, DOD 10/19/1989. He was a draftee into the Infantry out of South Gate, California on 10/17/1942. His place of separation from the military was Ft. McArthur, California 10/23/1945. I have hospital records that state he was wounded and admitted in July 1944 to the 49th Station Hospital in the United Kingdom. At that time his rank was Staff Sergeant. He received the World War II Victory Medal, Honorable Service Lapel Button, Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, and a Purple Heart. I would like to know his division, battalion and the unit he was in when he was wounded. I would like to trace his steps when he first arrived in Normandy until the time he was wounded. Bennie said he was shot at St Lo. He may have landed at Omaha Beach. HIs records were lost in a fire at St Louis, but there must be copies elsewhere.
Please contact me if you know how to obtain these records.
Thank you,

Re: Normandy family from Montana & Canada

Breaking news here, since it looks like since I created this board I'm all alone here except for the nice person who posted the Normandy obit....

Peter Normandy b.1877 d.1952 was in the Deer Lodge Penitenuary for either cattle rustling or horsethieving he was chased by a posse all the way down to the Missouri river where he shot his horse & used it to float downstream, why he haad to kill the horse I don't know but I did find out he was previously married, probably beat that wife to death, but I don't know if they had children. But in both of his marriage certs (which I can't find right now) one says his father is Frank Normandy & his mother is Mary King, the next one says his parents are Frank Normandy & his mother is Delia King... He is buried in a Catholic cemetary which is very queer to me as he was an extreme God hating man, maybe my great-grandma put him there to either get him back or try to save his wretched soul. I also just found that Peter had brothers named Peter, Frank, & James who also lived in Montana. His son Peter Jr just died in July of this year (2007) but I found his other son Frank who is filling me in here & there as his health permits.

Normandy family from Montana & Canada

I am trying to find more info on Peter Normandy from Montana. This is what I do know... He was born in 1877, he went to Deer Lodge State Penn in 1900, don't know when he was released, but by around 1918 he married an Aleut woman named Louise Sheehan at which time they lived on the mountain above Havre Montana which at one time was called Normandy Coulee. Evidently he wasn't a decent nor kind person, no one that knew him will talk about him except to say that they're just glad he's dead, biggest favor he ever did anyone. Now in the Montana's pioneer index it mentions a Frank & Pete Normandy who are from "Canada French" that were born in 1820 & 1845, I don't know who was first but I do know that 2 of his kids are named Peter & Frank so I'm assuming that these men were his father & grandfather, because of the 20 year difference in age. Also the path that they took also let me know they were, Metis indian, or thier wives were... it wasn't uncommon for french men to tkae indian wives as a matter of fact it was almost unheard of for them to marry any other kind of woman. I know he had alot of family on the upper east coast in the New England area but don't know where or who... Does anyone know anything about this family?
