Elizabeth Noyce was married to William Hopkins. (Possibly a soldier?) Their daughter Charlotte was born in Gibraltar 1896. It appears that they went to St Helena - Atlantic Island. Charlotte married John Hercules and she eventually lived in Durban South Africa.
Do you have these people in your Tree?

Hi Cynthia
I know 10 years has past since your message was placed on the board, I have just discovered it. Arthur Edward Noyce, my great-uncle married Constance Eva Greenham in January 1905 at West Ham Essex UK. Their first son Arthur Leslie born march 1906. On their marriage certificate Arthur was a Merchant Seaman. Constance (Connie) and their daughter Dorothy came back to England to attend Constance's fathers funeral in 1922 then returned back to Quebec Canada on the 15th November 1922 on the Empress of Britain, departed from Liverpool. Arthur Edward was one of seven brothers, the youngest brother being my Grandfather. How are you related? Do you have any old photographs?

Regards Felicity Noyce

My nickname was Omo or Mo & surf I thought very fitting for the www.

Re. Ellen Noyce; I cannot find her birth entry in the 1842 records & it puzzles me why she married Mathew Wheeler in Frome, Somerset, any ideas? Where did you find the birthdate of April 3 1842?

If her father's name is James & also her brother's the connection to Charles Henry might be that he is her nephew.

Mo
Thanks OmoSurf (washing powders???) :-)

The war record is cool, and thank you for transcribing that. What i am after is the relationship between this family and the one that settled in Gebbies Valley. I simply have not been able to find the correlation, yet it must exist.

And thanks also for the census detail. It will take some serious detective work to establish a link.

Many thanks again.

Hugh

NOYCE from Wiltshire to Canterbury, New Zealand

Hi NOYCEs

My gg grandmother was Ellen NOYCE b 3 Apr 1842. In 1862 she married Mathew WHEELER and emigrated in the 1870s to New Zealand, settling in Gebbies Valley near Christchurch.

I'm very interested in Ellen's family in Wiltshire/Hampshire. But, in a little church in Gebbies Pass is a plaque to one Charles Henry NOYCE who died in WWI and it is the relationship between him and my Ellen that intrigues me. There are so few NOYCEs in the world and Gebbies Pass is very remote.

Any one else looking for NOYCEs in NZ??

Thanks for your time,
Regards
Hugh Stark

I'm also researching Elias Noyce in Fordingbridge and he seems to have married twice. First was to Sarah and one of their children was Susan (my great great grandmother) and his second wife was Elizabeth. In the 1841 census he is shown as being born about 1801 and there is also a Jane Noyce born about 1776. I was trying to find out if this was his mother and also what was Sarah's maiden name.

You are probaly speaking in regards to my Uncle George Noyce, brother of Clyde, son of Frederick Hedly Noyce. I do not think there is a direct link to the Robert Noyce you are referring to. I am originally from Chicago... living in California.

I am a great-great grand daughter of George Noyce. My great grandfather was Frederick Hedley Noyce (my grandmother, Noma, was his daughter. Frederick was born in England. His grandfather Frederick was a Lt. with the Salvation Army. George (it is listed on our geneology as John George Noyce) died 2/24/1936 in England. Your birth info varies from mine and he was married to Harriet Vickers on 4/14/1884. I know there is a story regarding the Isle of White and that they forfeited land or even the Isalnd which was their's. My great uncle, George Noyce, did not follow through with rights or inhertitance to the land. Hope to hear a response from you.

Patricia Gorden

Shepard and Noyce/Noyes families of Athens Co., OH 1800-1870s

Hello list,

Is anyone researching these family names in the Athens, OH area?

I am looking for info on Mary Ann (Shepard) Buck. Her mother was Mercy A. Noyce of New Hampshire (I have also seen this name as Noyes) and her father was James Shepard. Mary's death certificate says she was born April 13, 1852 in Albany, Athens Co., OH but I can't find the family in the 1860 and 1870 census records for Athens or Meigs Counties. The genealogy marriage index online says a James Shepard married a Mary Ann Norris in 1851 in Athens Co., OH. I think this could be them.

Does anyone know if there is an obituary for this grandmother of mine? Mary Ann Buck died in Franklin Co., OH Mar 27, 1920.

Thank you,
Tina

I have not made much progress lately. The furthest back I've been able to trace is:
Elias Noyce
b. about 1806, Fordingbridge, Hants
m. Elizabeth Rogers(?), 2 Oct 1831, Fordingbridge, Hants
d. about 1866, Fordingbridge, Hants

On 25 Dec 1852, he appears to have been employed as a butcher in Fordingbridge.
I am married to Stewart Noyce. His father and Robert Noyce were first cousins. Robert Noyce passed away in 1990, but my husband's father is still alive. Unfortunately, Robert Noyce's brother, Don - a wonderful, wonderful man, just passed away last month. These Noyces are Brewster - Noyce decendants (England). Don Noyce was the keeper of much of the family history. I regret to say that I do not have a family tree .
