Hi Cheryl,
It certainly is a puzzle, as the birth dates for William Daniel Numbers are the same in the draft registration in Kansas, as well as the death record in California. A William D. Numbers married a Lula Curtis (from Wyandotte, Kansas) in Jackson County, Missouri in 1910.
In the 1930 census, Los Angeles County, Calif, his wife is Lula, born in Kansas. Possibly she was married previously to a Curtis. Her maiden name is listed as Thomas in Calif birth records. I have not found another William Daniel Numbers, but I suppose it is possible since the family was so large and spread out. How he would have gone back and forth from California to Missouri, or if he actually did that, is a mystery.
Let me know if you come up with any more information.
Thanks,
Joy

I have also been trying to figure out the William Daniel Numbers family from California. The problem I am having is with Wm D being in California for the birth of his daughter Ella in 1916 and his son in 1918 but the WWI draft has him in Kansas City, Jackson, Missouri in Sept 1818 with a wife of Lula. Could there be 2 Wm D Numbers? Have you found another one. I found a Willie listed with Clyde, sons of Elias's brother. And the parents of those brothers are James and Rebecca. Also, with the California voter registrations, Wm D and Clyde have been in California since 1913. My connection is Ella Estes. Any help clearing this up would be appreciated. Cheryl

Are you still looking for information about Thomas Raymond Numbers? This is what I have found: He was b. 15 Feb 1916, Eagle Rock, Los Angeles County, California; died 7 May 1942, age 26, in the crash of an Army bomber plane near Alexandria, Louisiana, Esler Field. He was a staff sergeant in the army, and there were 5 lieutenants on the plane who also died. His wife, Dorothy, was living in Alexandria at that time - Esler Field was an army base. What happened to his wife after he died? Did she marry again? I did not know that he had a son. Thomas would have been only 8 years old in 1924, so I think there is a little problem with the birthdate for your father.
I found the above information through newspaper reports.
My interest iis through the Numbers family. My grandmother was said to have 77 first cousins on the Numbers side, and I was attempting to trace all of them; I have found many of them, but still a lot of missing links.
I have the family tree back through John Numbers, b. 2 Dec 1793, if you still need that.
Thomas Raymond Numbers parents were William Daniel Numbers and I believe, Lula Thomas, who may previously have been married to a Mr. Curtis. William's line traces back to James Numbers (1820-1885) and his wife, Rebecca Fouch; he was the 4th son of John Numbers. I am from Ohio, from the Zetus Linton Numbers line, the 13th child of John.
Please let me know what you need, and I will try to help. I have most of it in my family tree on Ancestry.com.
Please keep in touch.
Me email is: joyw59@gmail.com
Joy

I am related to Hester Numbers who married George Moffett in 1829 in Kenton, Delaware. We believe her brother is Charles Numbers married to Jane Burrows and John Numbers married to Elizabeth Boyd. John lived in Little Creek Hundred, Charles in Duck Creek Hundred and Hester just listed in Kent, Delaware. In the 1850 census of Duck Creek, Hester and George Moffett's two children were living with Charles. Would like to compare notes.
I just came across a paper handwritten in 1944 from information provided by a John W. Graham, Jr. about his Numbers ancestry. It shows the following family members:

John & Mary Numbers
John d. 1790
Five children:
William Numbers
Mary Numbers
Rhoda Numbers, m. Mark Lewis
Elizabeth Numbers
Charles/John Numbers

Charles/John Numbers
Three children:
Mary Numbers, m. John D. Conner
Charles Numbers
John Numbers

John W. Graham, Jr., was a great-grandson of the first John Numbers. He was telling the information to a great-great-great-granddaughter.

I have information on the descendants of Rhoda Numbers and the Mary Numbers who married John D. Conner.

Does anyone else have information about the rest of this family?

Numbers M.D. and was questioning his Eclectic Medical license.

This J.R. Numbers M.D. temporarily managed my 3rd great grandfather's Drug Store - Moore's Old Reliable - in Carbondale, KS. from abt 1885-1887. Dr. Moore died in 1885 (my 3rd gr-grandfather) so I am curious about this J.R. Numbers.

Thank you.

Pam

I am following up on the line of Zetus's sister, Mary Ellen Numbers - m. Abel Lee. They moved from Wayne Co., Ohio to Osborn, Missouri in 1866. She is my g.g.grandmother. I haven't been able to get further than her father, John Numbers.

Don't know if you ever received an answer to your question, however, I believe if you are related to this James Numbers, then I'm probably related to you as well. My records show that James married Catherine on Aug 8, 1815. They had 7 children. One child, Elisha, was my 4th great grandfather. I'd be interested in comparing notes. Hope to hear from you.

Numbers Family Tree

Has anyone find out where the original Numbers came from in Scotland, when they came to the US and where they landed. In the Maryland area the only Numbers are my immediate family members. I have noticed that the Numbers are mainly throughout the northern US. My father has been trying to figure out the family tree and really hasn't gotten anywhere. The only thing I have found on this web site is James Numbers born in Maryland in 1778. With this unique name, it should not been that difficult to trace, but it is. Thanks anyone for your help.

I'm looking for information on Rhoda Numbers of Kent county, Delaware. Found her name in a probate record, so don't have any dates for her. She married a Mark Lewis; her daughter Mary Lewis (b. Jun 5 1798; d. Dec 23 1868) married Benjamin Graham (d. Sep 9 1844). She appears to have been Mark's second wife.
