OAK family in Michigan

Does anyone have information about Elias OAK b. 1882 Sep 04 in Canada & d. 1913 May 03 in MI. Married Mary Ann Aslin. They were married 1907, but they had a son (or step-son or other) Russell who was b. abt. 1904, & 2 daughters Mabel abt. 1912, Hazel abt. 1914. I have them accounted for through 1930, but wondered what happened to them after that & when/where Mary Ann & the children died.

Thanks for any info you can provide.
Judy

See my John Oak(e)s note this forum.
The Nathaniel Oak book of 1906 indicates my John Oaks was not a descendant of Nathaniel, but probably the brother of William Oaks also in Worcestor Co. MA, son of William Oaks, a traditional immigrant from Wales. Maybe you and I are looking for the same William?

John Oak(e)s Marlboro MA 1732

My line is stalled with John Oak(e)s "of Marlboro" who married Experience Walcott (Walcut) 1732 in Salem, MA. John was in Petersham, MA from abt 1738 to 1748 when he removed to Sunderland, MA where he own/operated a grist mill. He died in 1767 and his son, Jonathan, sold the mill in 1768.
My line is fully documented back to John, with one weak link (1927 Town Clerk's letter} through John's son David. No one has been able to link my John to any of the other Oak(e)(s) lines in MA.
If you are an Oak(e)(s) with a well documented lineage to or through MA in the 17th Century, I would be interested in discussing genetic genealogy testing, off line.
Floyd Oakes fmoakes@aol.com

My Oaks went from Charlton MA to Stephentown NY btwn 1790 and 1800, then to Cherry Valley NY btwn 1820 and 1830. My earliest entry is Stephen Oaks b. 1761 in MA, next door is Abijah Oaks (cousins, brothers?) in the 1790 census. My William Oak's are descended from Stephen and that's where I'm stuck. Stephen Oaks married Experience Goodell, daughter of David Goodell of Charlton. I have 10 children from that union.

"If they don't have a citation list to send then I'll have to see if I can't locate sources to prove or disprove their information."

I'm confident that sources cannot be found to prove a tenth child.
Finding sources to DISprove a tenth child is obviously much
much more difficult. Proving a negative always is, unless, for
instance the mother died before the child was reported to have
been born.
Henry Lebbeus Oak was a PROfessional historian as well as a
family member.
I have independently confirmed all of the genealogy that he has
published relevant to my ancestry, so I consider him reliable.

HLO did document an Ebenezer, son of Nathaniel born 1762
and Susannah EVANS. I have no info on him.
Have you found this Ebenezer and his descendants in censuses?

William was my great-grandfather, born in 1877 in Iowa. I looked through the family register of Nathaniel Oak, published in 1906. It lists three generations of his descendants and the only Stephen listed is my ancestor. He was born in 1795 in Maine, married Sally/Sarah Jane Ames, moved to Pennsylvania, and died there around 1875. There are several William's listed, but none that were married to a woman named Euphema.

I have for years been trying to determine the parentage of Stephen Oaks (1761-1835) I first find him in 1790 in Charlton MA, I am descended from his son Orrin Oaks (1804-1875) b in Stephentown NY. On Orrin's death certificate someone had written his parents were William and Euphema Oaks and I am thinking perhaps that they are his grandparents instead. What can you tell me about your William Oaks. TIA

Reposted: new email address and new information.

I am a descendant of Nathaniel Oak + Mary Holloway, Jonathan Oak + Abigail Rand, Abel Oaks + Betsey Hamlin, Stephen Oaks + Sarah (Sally) Ames, George Oaks + Elizabeth Mock, William Oaks + Fannie Marple (gr-grandparents). Oak is occasionally used in documents. Record starts in Massachusetts, moves to Maine, then to Pennsylvania. I am currently concentrating on George and Elizabeth. They were married in Pennsylvania in 1854, moved to JoDaviess county, Illinois by 1860, then on to Plymouth county, Iowa in 1870. I am interested in exchanging information with anyone connected to this line.

Doyle L.
I'm sorry for not replying. I'm not sure how this all got lost.

I received quite a bit of information concerning this Oak/Oaks/Oakes, but the information did not include any citations. The person who sent it to me stated that they would send me the citation list, but never did. Since it was around the holidays I decided to wait until after the holidays before I contacted them again. I've been so caught up in working 3 other lines that I haven't gotten back to them.

If they don't have a citation list to send then I'll have to see if I can't locate sources to prove or disprove their information. I'd be happy to send the two charts they gave me to you. If you're interested in it then send an email to my address and I'll send you copies. It takes the family back to the 1600's.

Tammy

"Genealogy without documentation is Mythology."
I am looking for information on Nathaniel Oak and Susannah Hastings. I think they may be the parents of Ebenezer Oaks who moved to what is now West Virginia and married a local girl named Drusilla. Their son, John Calvin Oakes, moved to Colorado Co., Texas and is my link.

Any help would be appreciated.

Sincerely,
Tammy STARK Blandino

Hi.

In one of the databases I have, there is an
Ebenezer Gardner Oaks, b 16 Oct, 1808...however,
in this database, he is listed as being m to
Harriet Mead. Nothing more, except, his parents
were "Abel Oaks & Betsy Hamlin" and his gparents
were "Jonathan Oaks (my line) & Abigail Rand"..
by the way..his ggrandparents would be
Nathaniel Oak & Mary Holloway.

Paul of San Diego

Hi again.

I just found E. G. Oaks in a book I have,
"OAKES AND RELATIVES", by Fred Arthur Oakes.

He does list Sarah Briggs as his wife..but
they were married late. He was b in 1808 and
she was b in 1827. Only three children are
listed. They are:

Mary Pond b 5 Sep, 1862

David B. b 22 Mar, 1865

fred b 12 Feb, 1868

Maybe the earlier one I told you about was his
first marriage, but I have no other data on that.

Paul of San Diego

Stephen Oak - JoDaviess Co., Ill in 1860

I am searching for information on Stephen Oak, living with John and Sarah Hillman in the Wards Grove township of JoDaviess county, Illinois in the 1860 census. John was born in Penn; Sarah was 26 and born in Maine. They have 3 children listed: Sarah J., age 9; Mary, 7; and Alfred, 4. Sarah and Mary were born in Penn, Alfred in Ill. Stephen was 66, born in Maine, and a carpenter. I believe that Stephen is Sarah Hillman's father, who born Feb 28, 1795 to Abel and Betsey Oak. I would appreciate any information on the Hillman-Oak connection.

Hi Oaks Folks,

My grandfather, Charles Oaks, lived in upstate NY on a 400 acre farm that was in the family for 4-5 generations. I have a detailed somewhat detailed family history going back to Seth Oaks who was in the revolutionary war. Another track goes back to John Rogers who cam over on the Mayflower. I don't have the history in from of me. Was interested in Seth's earlier family.

Margaret Oak Nadenbusch (b. 1829); Margaret Oak Lingamfelter (b. 1879)

In researching his Huber lineage, my father-in-law has come up with a Margaret Oak Nadenbousch (grandmother of Margaret Oak Lingamfelter).

Margaret Oak Nadenbousch was the dau of James Frederick Nadenbousch and Eleanore Collins (her b = May 4, 1792, d. May 17, 1871).

I'm wondering where the "Oak" came from... was it, perhaps Eleanore Collins' maiden name?

Sharon Smith
