Thomas OAKLAND, Nottingham
I am trying to find out more about Thomas OAKLAND and Elizabeth from Nottingham.

I can find only one marriage for them: Thomas OAKLAND and Elizabeth BETTISON at St. Mary, Nottingham, but it's in 1784 and their daughter, Caroline, was baptised in 1808 (also at St. Mary): quite a few years between these dates and I can't find any other children for them. Possible, but I'm not convinced.

I have further details of their family here:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~rprobert/bostock-fa...

Does anyone look or sound familiar?

And good hunting to all in 2010,

Rosemary
I have ancestors (James, John and their sister, Robina, Beattie) who went to Saskatchewan in 1887 and show up on census for Broadview and then for Moose Mountain. Although I have the coordinates I still can't figure out where their homestead was!

My great-grandfather's name was Robert Earnert Oakland(s) and reputed to have come to Australia from Canada, probably between 1865 and 1875. His marriage certificate says that his father was George Oakland(s) and mother Mary Ann Fairley. Also that he was married in April 1875 aged 26 in Melbourne, Australia. (ie born in 1848 or 1849 - in London).
Could he have been the brother of your George Oaklands?

She was born in Altoona, Pa., on April 29, 1918. She graduated from Pittsburgh State University in Pennsylvania in 1942 with a bachelor's degree in nursing. She went on to study for her master's degree at Columbia University Medical School in New York. She served her country during World War II in the Army Medical Corps from 1942 to 1943. After her career in nursing ended, she pursued her first love, creative writing. She went on to sell many screenplays for TV and also published a novel. She is survived by her only child, Barbara A. Barbara and husband Marty Frenkel of Los Angeles; sisters, Barbara Shigley of State College, Pa., Leona Dean of Panama City, Fla., and Frances Layton of Marina, Calif. A celebration of Lois's life will be held on what would have been her 85th birthday, April 29, in Santa Fe.
I am in search of an Ole O.(possibly Olson) Oakland of Minnesota. He operated Oakland Cottages on Big Ole (im guessing named after him ) lake, near Marcell, Minnesota with his daughter Clara Oakland (Stickler - who is my Gr. Grandmother) I know she had more siblings, though the only name I have for any is Hilda Oakland ( m. Helleckson). Its believed they were from Goodhue Co. Mn... though I have heard stories about Northfield, MN. Not alot to go on, but, if you have any information on Oaklands from Minnesota, It would be greatly appreciated! thanks...
