I am trying to find out more about their daughter Joesphine why she was not with them in sensus in 1860. Ii do know her father was in the Civil war in 1861 but where was her mother. Did she stay with family. in 1860 she stayed with Anothiny Barhite in Cayuga Ledyard ny. She was born in Cayua I believe in venice. I know nothing of her father's family or her mother Sally or Salley's madien name. They moved to Clymer, Pa by 1870 and Joesphine Oakely married James King whose father was Alonzo king m to lydia who I also don't know Madien name, I am interested in finding out where both of these families came from. James king lived in clymer Pa with father and mother can't find grandparents. strangely there is a polly Oakley living with them as a baby. did the family know each other. Very odd. I could use help. I have gotten a generation but no leads.

Which counties is surname Oakley found in? I am trying to find out where my great great grandfather John Oakley was born, circa 1845. I have no documentation on his origins other than he was born in Ireland and emigrated to Scranton and Old Forge, PA around 1870 from England with his wife, Ann Gilroy Oakley, and their baby son, David, born in England in 1869.

I think the name originated in England.

While looking for records on my ancestor David Oakley of Scranton and Old Forge, PA, I found a census report from 1870 for Plymouth, in Luzerne Co. PA that listed four little boys, all surnamed Oakley, ages 5 to 13 and born in England, lviing with Isaac Wright, age 22, and Clarisa Wright, age 34 (brother and sister? aunt and nephew?). Isaac Wright is listed as a laborer, as are the three older Oakley boys, and the female is listed as "Keeping house."

I would love to know if there is any connection between these little boys and my great great grandfather John Oakley, who emigrated to the US in 1870 or 71 with his wife Anne Gilroy and their son David. They settled in Scranton and had at least three more children, all girls.

I am trying to find something out about my gg grandparents. Josephine Oakely married James King. There son Floyd King was born Nov.9,1875 in Farmington Township, PA. most likely tioga county pa. They had three girls and a son Fred King. I have been stopped cold from her. This onfo is from an obit on May 3,1941. My great grandfather Flyod died at the Ekland Tannery in Elkland, Tioga county PA. for a heart attack at six oclock that morning. He had a sister Mrs. Arthur Boyce i don't know her first name who lived in Webster in Rochester Ny. Grace Hawtin who lived in Aubrun Ny then and Grace Mainwaring who lived in St. Peterburg Florida. it was not known where his brother Fred resided. I don't believe the family was very close. My grandfather was Ralph Roger King. He went by his first name who married Ruth Lattimer and they Lived in Nelson, PA.Most of my ancestors come from around Tioga county PA. I just can't find a obit for either of Floyd's parents. i am not in touch with any of his siblings family. Floyd is buried at Riverside Cemetary in Osceola, PA. I don't know what to do. My grandfather never who married Alberta Kline always told my mother that he did not remember his father even though his father died when he was 26years old. I assume they did not get a long. My grandfather had a whole in his heart, and died at 50. I never meet him. My great grandmother also was related to the Kings who lived down by Jemison Creek in PA. I believe my mother said that Josephine and James may have been buried by the creek's edge. If they were not related to the Jemison King's why did they live where too. I have no more information. Perhaps some one of his sister's family is alive and have more records

I am trying to find John Oakley born in Braughing, Hertfordshire in 1858. I know when he married in Lancashire, when his wife died (1897) but his trail goes cold at that point. I know from direct testimony from my grandfather that he "disappeared" from his son's life at that point but where he went and what became of him is a mystery. I can't find him in the death indices either before or after 1915 so am stumped or the 1901 or 1911 census. At 56 he was I think he was too old for WWI so I would welcome any ideas.

In my research, from my other cousins, I've found out that Peter's parents - Peter Eisenlord Jr & Louisa Robinson may have adopted Mary Oakley. How intertwined everything is or was back then. Do you live in Gratiot County? I could steer you to some cousins for help.

I have just been reading the information regarding the murder of Charles Perry Oakley. I believe that this man was my great-grandfather by birth. He would have been my mother's birth-grandfather. She was born to Perry Oakley and Ollie Ingram Oakley as Martha E Oakley in 1923 and her sister as well, Maggie M Oakley in 1926. They were given up for adoption in approximately 1928 after Ollie had left the home and Perry was unable to care for the young children. I have been trying to locate my mom's birth family and to learn something about them and my heritage. Any help that you might be able to give would be greatly appreciated.

Libby

This is the info I have on this family and I have William Oakley as one of my Patriots in the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution). They are very strict about genealogy so I am sure this info is correct. The Luanna Yokley Goodmon (1823 - 1876) is my 2nd great grandmother:

5.
The Said Marcus Lafayette Goodmon was the child of

George W Goodmon born on 25 - Feb - 1823 at Monroe Co KY

died at Labette Co KS on 5 - Aug - 1905 and his ( 1st ) wife

Lueann Yokely born on (c) 17 - Mar - 1823 at NC

died at Labette Co KS on 14 - Dec - 1876 married on - Jul - 1841

married at Monroe Co KY

6.
The Said Lueann Yokely was the child of

Marcus Yokely born on (c) - - 1777 at NC

died at Monroe Co KY on 2 - Jun - 1854 and his ( 1st ) wife

Nancy Lunsford born on (c) - - 1791 at NC

died at Monroe Co KY on (p) 30 - Jul - 1862 married on 15 - May - 1809

married at Person Co NC

7.
The Said Marcus Yokely was the child of

William Oakley born on (c) - - 1756 at _______________

died at Person Co NC on (a) - - 1856 and his ( 1st ) wife

born on - - at _______________

died at _______________ on - - married on - -

Associated Ancestor (Revolutionary) Record
OAKLEY, WILLIAM

Ancestor #: A202921
Service:
NORTH CAROLINA Rank: PATRIOTIC SERVICE
Birth:
(CIRCA) 1756
Death:
(ANTE) 1836 PERSON CO NORTH CAROLINA
Service Source:
CLARK, STATE RECORDS OF NC VOL 22 P 168
Service Description:
1) TOOK OATH OF ALLEGIANCE 1778
