Thanks for the reply. This seems in line with what Dan Oates and some others believe. I have done no research back that far. I keep hoping that Oates desendents that lived around the Bean Settlement will have newer knowledge about the more modern relatives. This week I took a drive up to Hardy county to try to determine where some of the Oates lived around Bean Settlement/ Inkerman about 1930's.

William Oates b 1811 was the first child of Christopher Oates and his first wife Mary. Christopher (aka Johann Christian)was the first son of Johann Jacob Hauver b 1757 in Frederick, Maryland. Abt 1800, this line anglicized the name to Oates. I just posted my efforts to delineate this line by process of elimination after documenting the lines descended from each of Christopher's brothers ie..Jacob, George, John, Daniel, and Peter). I cannot claim absolute accuracy, but it was worth the effort. Let me know your thoughts.

D B Robinson was the son of another D B Robinson and I am descended from his sister. I have all of the information on their ancestors. The parents of D B Robinson was another Daniel Bosworth Robinson, from Northamptonshire in England and Priscilla Nash from Cork. They met on a ship to Australia in 1852. He comes from the landed gentry of Northants. Priscilla is from the landed Protestant gentry of Ireland and her ancestry can be traced to all of the Kings of England from Henry III back, then to all of the kings in Europe before that and so on. At the moment I have all of these charts on Excel spreadsheets, which I can send, though I will in the near future transfer these to Word A4 sheets. I would also be grateful for any info on D B Robinson's life and direct family. You may respond here, but please also reply directly to me at towsey@usa.net Thanks. Julian Towsey

Hi Pam, Thankyou for your reply. Are you interested in the whole Oates family tree? May was one of six children and Peter (my husband) is the son of Martha Lucille who is May's sister. Incidentally I notice that you have May as having been born in Sydney. She was actually born in Perth Western Australia. Also, are you aware of the history of May's Grandfather, William Oates? i can remember May coming back here for a visit when she was about 83. My son, who was quite small at the time, absolutely loved her and followed her everywhere. She gave him a gift of a child's cutlery set which we still have to this day.
If you go to this web site you will be able to find some of the information - www.bdm.dotag.wa.gov.au

As soon as I receive your reply I shall set about getting the information you require to you.

It is coincidental but I have been getting other enquiries from other descendants of William Oates lately.

I look forward to your reply.

Best wishes Lesley Holland

In your list I noticed that you have Mary Jane Oates, Joseph Oates and John Henry Oates. If you see that Mary Jane Oates is Mary Jane Penfreze,(or how ever you spell the last name.) Would I be able to look at the bible. Also if you know about the Black family then I am most definitly related.

Thank you
