She lived in East L.A. withher daughter Stella. I haVE A PHOTO of her, Stella and my father some where in all his belongings. All his papers, photos, and letters are in about 10 or 11 boxes. I have a Bekins stall in Fresno and it is paid up to 2015. I am planning to have my nephew ship it all to me here in KY. If I run into any thing interesting I will copy it and send it to you, By the way I have traced and varified all the way to 1815 On my fathers side OAXACA.

The farthest I can find is Josefa Jacquez and Jesus Oaxaca were my great great grandparents. My Great-Grandfather was Angel Oaxaca. I know we come from the Chihuahua, Chihuahua clan and that I'm not from the Parral de Hidalgo clan. Let me know if you have any information!

Thanks! Vanessa Oaxaca

My name is William Richard Oaxaca. I have been digging deep in this genealogy. I have varified my line as far back 1837. My father was Ramon J. Oaxaca born in Lacer de Guadalupe, Chiuaua Mex. His father's name was Ramon Miguel Oaxaca. Married Lucia Martinez on Nov. 18, 1894. They had 4 Children, Ramon, Paul, Lucy, Helen & Emma. My Grandfather'(Ramon J. Oaxaca, Father) was Jose Miguel de los Angeles Oajaca. he was married on feb. 16, 1848 to Maria Remedios Ochoa.
In 1972 my father, Brother Gilbert took a trip to the Placer de Guadalupe wher my dad was born. we Went throug all the church records we could in such a short time. I took Microfilm of these pages and the index to all the books they had in the arcives. But they are very dificult to decifer because of the script form used by the Priest at that time.
I now live in Georgetown Ky. In case anyone wants to reach me, my address is 120 Barbara Blvd, Georgetown KY 40324. My phone number is (502) 867- 2052. My e-mail address is willoax@yahoo.com. I have been to Oaxaca Mex. twice and done some search on the origin of the name Oaxaca. I also have photos of Placer de Guadelupe.

Hi, I'm Deseree Oaxaca. I know that I'm from a large family, whenever I go to Fresno to visit everyone, there's always several people there. My grandfather is Paul Oaxaca, the only reason I know that is because my brother is named after him. My father never really has talked to us about our great grandparents, or really anybody.

I know really nothing about my ancestors, but now, I'm very eager to know. I might ask my dad about our ancestors this weekend, see if he knows anything. I'm still a teen, and I think this would be the best time I find our about all my relative. I don't even know many of my living relatives names! We only go to Fresno once or twice a year, so I wouldn't know much.

We moved to the Bay Area when I was just a pup, I hardly know anything about anyone in my family.

It would be really nice if you maybe know who my grandfather is, and give me some information. Thanks.

That would be really interesting to find out how closely we are related! Do you have any information you could send me? I really can't find much on my ancestors on my Oaxaca side. I know my Grandpa's name was Angel and he had a sister named Luz Oaxaca. If you have any information you could share that would be so great!

I will also try searching for ancestors with the different variations of the Oaxaca name. Do you mind sharing why your Grandpa changed his last name?

Thanks for replying!

I have a good deal of information on my ancestors back beyond Miguel Oaxaca that provided to me by a grandma years ago but we did not have much information on his siblings. I know that there was a both Jose and Francisco before Miguel but I do not recall what order and would need to find the pedigree file I have to clarify that.

My family also came through El Paso and lived in Los Angeles and the Fresno area and most of my relatives are now on the west coast.

I am fairly certain that we are both descended from the same family of Oaxacas from Chihuahua. I think that either Miguel Oaxaca or his father was the sibling of one of your ancestors. It is possible that we are even more closely related but we are almost definitely related.

As another note: In the record I have seen to date there are actually 2-3 variations on the spelling of the name which cause some confusion when trying to put the pieces together. We have seen the name spelled Oaxaca, Guaxaca and Guajaca in different records.

Hi David,

I know that I am related to Anthony Quinn, but I'm not exactly sure how. I think he is a cousin of my grandfather's in some way. I found some more information on the parents of my Great Grandpa. They were from Chihuahua as well and were names Jesus J. Oaxaca and Josefa Jacquez, but I can't find anymore information on them. My grandparents migrated here around the same time as your Grandpa and they went to El Paso, Texas. My Grandpa also told me that our last name is somehow connected to the Mexican Revolution, but I have yet to sit down and talk to him about the details. When I find something out I will post it on here!

My great-grandpa was Miguel Oaxaca from Chihuahua. He was alive until the 1980s when I was a teen. He migrated here in 1913 when my Grandpa was only a few weeks old and changed his last name to Licon at that time but we are originally Oaxacas.

The actor Anthony Quinn was born Antonio Rodolfo Quinn Oaxaca in Chihuahua. His mother (Manuela Oaxaca) is noted as having Aztecan ancestry so the Oaxaca name in Chihuahua is apparently associated with an Aztec origin.

I would love to know more about your ancestry as I have always been fascinated by where our relatives that kept the name Oaxaca are today.

Regards,

David
