David Offley moved to and owned property in Dedham Massachusetts. Look under www.ellisisland.org. You will see that he traveled back and forth from England. However, there is more than one David Offley during that time period. This one married an Elizabeth Wolcott on 9/26/1639.
David Offley born 1781 in Philadelphia, PA; he died 1838 in Smyrna, Turkey. married Mary Ann Greer.
Daniel Offley born 1756 died 1793 married Judith Scull on 9/8/1779 through 1/?/1786 and also married Judith Bellangee.
Daniel Offley married Ann Newbold on 6/13/1789 and had Rachel Offley (5/3/1791), Mary Offley (4/14/1793) and John Newbold Offley (1795)

Good to hear from such a distant relation.
I have very little info on my Offley anscestors. I descend
from John Offley thru the Collins,Taylor and Sartain
lines. Most of my line lived in Maryland, Kentucy,North
Carolina,Iliinois and Missouri. I would be glad to have
more info on the Offleys but I'm afraid the swapping
of info would be one-sided as I have so little. I do have
quite abit on my line up to John if you are interested.
I am amazed at the number of people living today
that can trace their family history back to John Offley.
The number is in the thousands with a large number
in the state of Utah. Many Mormon families, such as the
Lemmons,Rawlins and Downs, trace their line back to
John Offley thru Anastatia Gregory.

Terry
I am attempting to trace my uncle and family. I believe he was born in Black Bourton Oxfordshire England in about 1906-1915. I think he was called Foye Shore, later changed to Foye Offley-Shore. I believe he went to Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) to live. His sister Eleanor Bohun Shore had married Will Laurie and lived in Concession near Salisbury.
My father was Harington Prendergast Offley-Shore.

If anyone has any information they can give I would be very grateful.

Hi:
I'm glad I could help. Let me know if you receive info on Mary Offley. I've been doing research on the Offley family for over 10 years. It's an on and off thing. When I get started, sometimes it is hard for me to stop. At the present time I need to come to Maryland to ties up loose ends on my search. Who knows, it might open up new doors. My son just purchased a home in Maryland, so I might come there in August. I was there to visit him in December. His wife had just had a baby.

I would love to give a family reunion for all the Offleys in the United States. Sounds crazy. I did mention it to another Offley from VA. There is a group (the Lee family) that held a reunion for anyone who had the Lee name. All nationalities showed up and it was great.

Let me know your feeling about this. Naturality it should be held in Maryland, because that is where the Offley family started.

Good luck. If I find any additional info , I will let you know. If there is anyone in Massachusetts you are looking for, let me now.

Vikki

Hi:

I found Mary F. Offley today on the internet. She was married January 16, 1847 in Kent County, MD to James B. Lusby, You should be able to get a copy of her marriage certificate, which will state where she was from and her parents name. About 90% of the Offleys who settled in Maryland came from England.

Try to get a copy of The Sun, Baltimore , Sunday Morning News Paper dated July 28, 1907 (page 17) and August 4, 1907 (page !7). It will tell you which Offleys and how they settled in Maryland.

If you decide to research the Offley family, you will find the research their very easy and interesting. They were very important people. They even came to the U. S. in there own ships. A gentleman named John B. Offley, currently living in VA has done all the research. He sent me a copy of his side of the Family Tree.

Keep writing
Vikki

They lived in Tettenhall Staffs. and had both been married before, in fact Dinah would have been about 60 when she married. Thomas was her third husband.!!! I have been unable to trace back further. If you get any links perhaps you would contact me. Regards Elaine

Dear Vikki,

Most of my research is on the Lusbys, who came from England to Maryland. James Lusby was the son of John Lusby and Sara Nowland.
He was erroneously listed as John, instead of James, and Luzbey, instead of Lusby. I have next to nothing on the Offleys.. I hand transcribed a microfilm #0014169 shows Kent County marriage license issued January 16, 1847. They had about four or five children. Right off the top of my head was my grandfather, Robert Lusby, the baby of the family b.1865. Then there was Sarah who became a nun, Sister Emily Lusby. John Vincent Lusby was the first born, October 1847, and there was a daughter Mary who Married a man named Foxwell.

My guess is that Mary Offley would have been born in Maryland in the 1820s.

So who were her parents, Was she Catholic? She had her children baptized I believe at St. Inigoes Parish in St. Mary's County, MD.

Thanks, Cecile

Is your research of the Offley family or the Lusby family.
I need to come to Maryland to finsh my research. I have a son that lives in Maryland.
I am from Massachusetts. It appear my side of the Offley family came here from Maryland. I was there some time ago, but I believe I went about my research the incorrect way.
There is a long line of Offley's from Maryland who came from England. They are a very interesting group. I've been in contact with several of them. I have a lot of info on their side of the family then I have on my own side.
I will look for your information tomorrow (saturday 7/19/03).
When I posted my original message in 2001, I forgot where I posted the message. I was just doing some additional research, when I came across my original message. I started to laugh to myself. Then to my surprise you replyed. It took me two years to find my own message. I don't know what you thought when I did not answer. Well, know you know why. So laugh along with me.
I hope to have an answer for you tomorrow.
Vikki
Thank you for your initial response.

My father was Vincent J. Lusby
His father was Robert Lusby (1865-1942)
Robert's father was James Lusby who married Mary Offley,
They lived in Calvert for a while and then went to St.Inigoes Parish in St. Mary's County in southern Maryland

Mary died in 1868 and James Lusby died in 1871, so I wonder where they got together, etc.

I would appreciate anything you have.

Thank you, Cecile

Hi:

I've done a lot of research on the Offley Family. My mother is Eunice Offley. Her father, Charles Arther Offley was born 1895 in Maryland although his family lived in Massachusetts. Charles father was John K. H. Offley was born on Dec 26, 1937 in Catonsville, Maryland. John's father's name was Charles Offley. I'm trying to locate Charles Offley, who was born in the 1800s.
There is a John Offley, who live in VA, who has all the information you need on your side of the family. As a matter of fact a new paper in Maryland (Sun Baltimore) did a series on the Offley Family on Sunday,July 28, 1907. Check the year for that date because the year is fadded on my paper, but Sunday July 28th is okay.
Vikki
