Judy, my name is Duane Piere and Verne Oldenburgs wife was a Clara Voight, correct? Clara's mother was Katie Piere Voight. Is Marvin still alive? Phyllis Nessett and I have researched the Piere line for the last 30 years. Somewhere along the line there was discussion about that someone on the Oldenburgs has very old pictures from Hugo and Katie Voight. So you know anything about this? Also do you know the village where the Oldenburgs came from in Germany? Many or the Jordan, Lydia families knew each other from the old country. I have ties to Eldena in Schwerin where other Lydia families originated from.

Please reply or email me at dvpiere@yahoo.com

Thanks Duane

Looking for more information on Henry Oldenburgh. Henry died in 1901 in Harnland (sp?) Ridge, York County, New Brunwick, Canada. I'm attempting to find information on his parents. Henry was born in England in 1813 and immigrated to New Brunswick 1827 when he was 14 years old, based on census records. I ordered his death certificate, but it doesn't have his parents information. Henry married Jane "Maria" Josslen (from Topsfield, ME)in 1835. Their children included: John Abram, Mary, Catharine, Martin "James", Charles, Henry David (my great, great grand father), Caroline, Thebe, and Samuel. I would like to trace the Oldenburgh family name to England and Germany.

I am interested in learning where the Cragg family you are researching lived.I have a Loren Cragg b.1900 and died in 1941 at the Gillfillan farm near Sleepy Eye,Mn. He was married to an Inga Hanson daughter of Rev.Thomas Hanson of rural Franklin,Mn. It seems that the couple did not live together all of the time although they were the parents of three children. I do not think that they were ever divorced.

Hi Barb:
What type of information do you have? As noted in the previous thread, most of my information is on Charles (aka Carl) Oldenburg (b. 1828 d 1911) and his wife Anna Elizabeth Draeger (b. 1831 d. 1904) and their children. I many census records both Federal and MN state as well as land deads, death certificates and obituaries. My line is from their first child Christina (b. 1853 d. 1921) and her husband Bernard Winterfeldt.

I am willing to make copies and share any information that I have.
Lori

I think my brother contacted you earlier. He is from West Palm Beach. I do believe these are my grandmothers siblings that you have listed. Her name was Minnie but she went by Dorothy. Not until her death did we find out her real name. Anna was her sister who lived on St. Joseph's Ridge near LaCrosse, Wisconsin. George was her brother who worked on building the Panama Canal. His daughter is still living. All of the children were split up when my ggrandmother was put into a Wisconsin institution and all the children were taken away by the state.

Children are Christina (b. 1853), Charles (b. 1858), Marie (b. 1860), William (b. 1862), Annie and Eliza (b. 1865) and Johanna (b. 1872). My Oldenburg family married into the Winterfeldts.

I have found more info since the previous 2005 posting, here is an update.

My GGGGrandmother, Sophia Schultz, came to America from Germany about 1868 with her children, Frederika Harning and William F. Harning Jr, a year or so after the death of her first husband, William Harning Sr. Their children, Fredericka Harning and William Harning, were born in Germany.

Sophia then married Charles Oldenburg Sr in 1869 in Tonawanda, Erie Co, NY. Their Children are: Wilhelmina, born in East Otto, Ny; Frederick, Emma, and John, born in Tonawanda, Erie Co., NY; Charles Jr, born in Sardinia, NY; and George born near Pendleton, NY.

The Oldenburg line lived mostly in City of Tonawanda, Erie County though some moved into North Tonawanda. The Harning line was mostly in North Tonawanda but some moved into the City of Tonawanda, Erie County. Various descendants eventually moved even further away.

Descendants of Sophia Schultz and her husbands, William Harning Sr. and Charles Oldenburg Sr.:
1 Sophia Johanne Dorothea Schultz b: 24 Dec 1840 d: 05 Mar 1923
.. +William Harning, Sr. d: Bet. 1865 - 1867
........ 2 Frederika Harning b: 21 Jan 1864 d: 06 Sep 1912
............ +Louis Ludwig Tiedemann b: 1860 d: 12 Jul 1925 m: 16 Jul 1883
................... 3 Frank Tiedemann b: 1884 d: 1941
....................... +Minnie Hollick b: 1884 d: 13 Jun 1972 m: 1907
................... 3 Sylvia Tiedemann b: 1888 d: 01 Oct 1970
....................... +William Hildebrandt b: 1886 d: 30 Apr 1940 m: 1909
............................. 4 Shirley Hildebrandt b: 1914
................................. +Glen Elliott
............................. 4 Geraldene Hildebrandt b: 1919
................................. +Henry Winiarski
................... 3 Edward Tiedemann b: 08 Jul 1890 d: 1971
....................... +Florence Kieffer b: 1900 d: 1954
............................. 4 Gerald Tiedemann b: 1924 d: 22 Aug 1993
................... 3 Caroline Tiedemann b: 14 Aug 1892 d: 20 May 1959
....................... +Frederick W.
The Oldenburgs are my husband's ancestors. His cousin Loran Braught does all the family research down that line. You can see his stuff at
Braught/Braucht Families of USA
http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&...

Do you have a connection with Dr. Oldenburg (Oldenbergh)? He is my gggggrandfather and I have done much research from Dr. Oldenburg forward but have not attempted anything from him back. I have notes in my research saying that he was related to the Duke and Duchess of Oldenburg and a direct decendent of Charlemagne. However, these are just notes and I have not confirmed if they are fact. One note is that he died in 1786 in Woodstock, Virginia after falling from his horse. Also, I have an alternate spelling for his wife's maiden name - Lawerswyler. Any info that you have on Dr. Oldenburg or his family would be greatly appreciated.

Hello

I am looking for a detailed account of the Oldenburg family in Mecklenburg. I have read that they are a branch of the von Oldenburg nobility (of Oldenburg of course) that held several manors in the 1500's in Mecklenburg. Does anyone have information on these Oldenburgs?

Am specifically looking to find their descendants who were born in the WI area (Milwaukee, I think).
I am not sure if the little I know and the whole bunch I don't know is any help or if they are even connected. Maybe? My father is Douglas Morris Oldenburg. His father was Morris George Oldenburg aka "Speedee" (lived in Minnesota) Morris was marris to Esther Morris (this is her maiden name). and Morris had an older sister Deloris married to Lloyd Robinson, a younger sister Cleone married to Stanley Sumey, and a younger brother named Keith. I know the parents of my grandfather are the 2 that came from Germany. But no one can (or maybe just won't) tell me anymore. Do you know anything?

Hi, I was just reading your messages about the Oldenburg family. Maybe you might have some information that could help me. My grandfather was Morris Oldenburg and he lived in Minnesota. I do know he was from Oldenburg (or so grandma thought). They got divorced years and years ago. I never knew him. Grandma also stated that his parents were from Germany but never said from where. My fathers name is Douglas Morris Oldenburg and my name is Andrea Louise Oldenburg (Reyna). If you have anything, anything at all please email me at alreyna00@yahoo.com
