Thanks Michel, for posting those documents. I descend from Francois Olivier thru his daughter, Domitille Olivier married to Francois Xavier Lambert. It's nice to see some background on the Olivier's.

yours, Albert Riezebos
Hi Paul, sorry to take a while to reply to you, I have been without a pc for a couple of months. Unfortunately, I cannot say that I have heard of a Karl Olivier. Do you have a date of birth or know when he was in Mauritius or what part? My family left Mauritus about 1905 and lived in the area near Port Louis and Rose Hill. I have been researching Olivier's in Mauritus for several years now and know how difficult it is to get information. I did see a post from a Paul Olivier on the Mauritian FH site "Genemau", was this you? An affiliate of this group Imaugen are in the process of indexing what records are available. (1860-1910) These are the same records which are available at a charge from the Church of the Latterday Saints (LDS). Unfortunately there was a big fire in Port Louis which burnt down 3/4 of the town including the records dept. Have you looked at another site called "Geneanet"? They have a lot of trees to do with Olivier and Mauritius. Apologies if you already know all this. If it would help you, please let me know if you would like an invite to my tree. Just out of curiosity I would like to have a look at your tree too. It may be that I have come across some of the other other names in the course of my enquiries. Good luck April

J'aime assez cette histoire aussi, Caroline !

C'est bien possible qu'Elisabeth Savard n'est jamais épousé
l'officier Oliver.

I also have Olivier ancestors from the Cape Province. The towns were from Potchefstroom, Ladybrand, Doornbult.
Pieter Engelbertus Smith married Johana Gertruda Olivier in Doornbult, Lichtenburg. About 1850. Any information on the Olivier, Smith, Lodewyk, Botha families in the Cape/Orange counties, in the 1700 to 1890's would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, I am also looking for mine! I think some of your names are familiar, as my grandfather was Cornelius Johannes and his father was Gert Cornelius. I think my grandparents lived in Sutherland and moved to Oudtshoorn many years ago, where both of my grandparents died. My grandmother was nee Vermeulen and she spoke of the Kandelaars Rivier family and I know there was a Le Roux in the family as well (a lady).
My grandparents were well known in Oudtshoorn as my grandfather's one brother owned the bakery in town and my grandfather owned a little corner shop at some stage.
There were 12 brothers and sisters on my grandfather's side and 14 on my grandmother's side.
I certainly think there is a link somewhere. Please could you give me more information? I share the nicknames as they were shortened for all the complicated ones! I have asked my dad to sit and write down the family names that he remembers, but I live far away and we have not seen each other for almost 10 year!
Thanks!
My grandfather Giovanni Oliver and his sister Clara came to America in the 20's. Their parents were Vicenzo and Regina(De Marco.) Numerous other Olivier's came over during the 20's from Belluno. I am trying to find out how they are all related. Some of the others were Giacomo, Giovanna, Beniamino, Vergilio, Fioravante, Emilio, Caterina, Angelina, Luigi, Umberto, Marino, Antonio, Futunato, Agostino, Aurelio, Augusto, Amabalino, and Primo. I think that most are sibling and cousins.

David, My father Murphy's family was related to your father, but your grandfather's name is not what I was given. I was told that two brothers married 2 sisters. My father's brother was your fathers brother. Now, I'm confused. Gerard was my Granfathers name. He should be your uncle. Laocade was my Grandmother. Does this sound familiar? I listed all the information on the family that I could find and thought I verified. Since New Iberia is the location, we have to be related.

I am hoping that somebody will be able to help me.
My great grandmother was Hazel Rebecca Correll, and her maiden name was Olivier, although she was adopted at about 16 by a Boyd Goebel. She was born in 1912 in St Martin, Louisiana and died in 1999 in North Carolina.
Her husband and my great grandfather was Charles White Correll.
I believe her father's name was Darmeville (Davaneville?) Olivier who was apparently born in 1856 but when I search for a Darmeville Olivier the birthdate is 1868
her mother was Louise, Louisette or Laurcelle (born c. 1888). Both born in St Martin, LA.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Marilyn,

My name is Charity (Boutte) Murrell. My family also comes from Grand Marais, Iberia, Louisiana. I am the daughter of Michael Boutte, who is the son of Frances Boutte, who is the daughter of Lucia Olivier, who is the daughter of Letecia Olivier. I am not sure who Lucia's Father is, but her step father is Edward Raggette. Letecia and Edward's combined family included 7 children. One of them is Hilda (Ragette)Boutte, who married Joseph Boutte. One of their children was Alton Boutte, who married Florence Olivier, your Grandmother. I believe Melinda Olivier is your mother. I got this information from a program from the Olivier - Raggette Family Reunion in 1989. I am doing research on my family heritage as well. Our Great Grandmothers were sisters. I would love to talk to you more about our families and share information if possible.

God bless,

Charity Boutte Murrell

(If we know eachother and I seem to have misplaced your name please charge it to my head and not my heart)

So I guess that means that brothers married sisters because Bertina and Octavia (my grandmother) were sisters. Wow! now I know where to start looking for my great grandfather. Do you know what street in Lake Charles Mathais lived on? Maybe I cna find some old Census info to get the other names in the household. This is the first ever connection past my grandparents that I have ever gotten. Thanks so much.

Zephirin, died in 1920 and a clipping was saved by my grandmother, Frances Delaney Olivier, who was also a descendant of Zephirin. He claimed to be 106 years old, but I believe census records indicate he was actually 96 when he died.
