My father was born in Torreon, Coahuila. His name was Dario, his mothers name was Petra and his fathers name was Nasario I believe, not sure. We still have family there but I don't remember their names. One time long ago a distant cousin from Torreon visited my sister when he came to El Paso. Reason was he was looking for a car, como si no hubiera carros en Torreon, LOL. We went out for drinks one day and I never saw him again after that as he left for Mexico.I have more info on where in Torreon he was from but I would have to look for it. My father had half-sisters and half-brothers as his dad remarried or something.

My grandparents on my fathers side came to Torreon from Durango Mexico and then Cd. Juarez, Chihuahua. Some stayed in Juarez but my father immigrated to El Paso, Texas when he was around 17. His mothers name was Petra and his fathers name was Nasario, I think. My father was born in 1906 and died at 89. We still have family in Torreon and Juarez but we don't keep in touch. Some family went to California and live in the Benning, Ca. area. I read somewhere that there was an Olvera in Cortez' expedition to the new world. When I was little, before the age of 10, there were only 3 families in the phone book, now we fill up a whole page.

My Mother's Maiden name is Reyna but it was changed from Olvera when my great grandfather fell out with his father. His name was Pedro Olvera. His wife's name was Reyna. I understand that My great, great grandfather Pedro Olvera was from Spain. My mother briefly lived with his relative in Kyle, Texas. This was Santiago Olvera. He had the Castillano accent as well. I am not sure if they were brothers or cousins but I do know they were both from Spain and moved to Mexico. Pedro and Santiago that is. My great grandfather said he came from Hacienda del Panuelo, Mexico. I am not sure where that is.

We have a Gregorio Olbera/Olvera (depends on who you talk to) who was my grand fathers brother his wife is Ucedia we just saw her at family reunion. I have all their dates and such but depending on the time line I am wondering if could possibly be g grandpa Bernabe's (also spelled Beneva Obbera) brother??? A cousin said g grandpa was full blood apache born in Mexico but cant prove that. So I really would like to find possible brothers or sisters to my g grandpa...he married Luciano Guerrera who was born in Floresville. So hope this helps.

I'm also trying to locate information on my great, great grandparents. My great grandfather was Pedro Olvera or maybe Olbera married to Francisca Peralta. I believe they may have been from Durango, Mexico but not certain. Sometime between my great grandfather and grandfather the surname changes to Rivera??? I don't have any idea why that is...Any help is appreciated.
Interesting...I'm also trying to locate information on my great, great grandparents. My great grandfather was Gregorio Olvera of "La Ochoa" in Durango. For some reason my great grandfather changes surname to Rivera and the family becomes Rivera sometime in the early to mid 1900's...
