Hello,

After doing some research myself into the Orr side of the family I came across an Elwood Orr that had a sister, Donna Stimac (possible not her last name). Their mother and father were Hazel V and John E. If this is the right line, they were my fathers great Aunt and Uncle. They lived in White City and are both buried there. I have information going further back from them if this is the correct line.

JoAnna Mathes

I will ask my father and see if this could be a relative. Have you found out any information about the Orr side of the family? I am currently doing research myself, but have just begun. Any information that you may have would really help me on my search and I will provide any information to you that I come up with if there is in fact a link.

Thank you,
JoAnna Mathes (Orr)

I remember going to the cemetery in Monon on memorial day to put flowers on my grandfather's parents graves. There was also a James Orr in the cemetery that was my dad's uncle.
This is a message for Mike Adams. My gggrandfather was Robert Adams of Glenavy, born 1811. His twin was Thomas Adams who lived at Hillhead. There was another brother, John, who was born in 1803. Thomas' boys, Nathaniel, Thomas, and John, came to Liverpool. My ggrandfather, Thomas a son of Robert, also came to Liverpool and became a Police Officer in 1877. He married Annie McMahon in 1880. They had 3 sons, Thomas Francis, Robert Johnston (my grandfather), and William Ernest.
It is exciting to read messages from family members.

Hi,
I found on ancestry that you corrected the spelling of the name of Henry T. Orr in the 1920 or 1930 census. Henry was my great grandmother's brother. Nancy Jane or Jane Nancy Orr daughter of William H. Orr and Cynthia Moore was born 9.8.1859 died 10.2.1898 married John T. Long. I have William H. Orr as son of William B. Orr, Sr. born 3.19.1789 in Ireland married Nancy Clardy. Can you verify this info? I have many family connections in Anderson County, SC area.

We have communicated before but couldn't find a family connection. Samuel Orr, my paternal Grt. Grandpa, was a jewelry/watchmaker in Allegheny City ( Pittsburgh ) about 1860 to 1900 and had his own shop. They then moved to the West Coast where my Grandmother had settled. Samuel's uncle was named James. He was married to a Maria. They also lived in Allegheny City and may have had a son James. It is very likely there were relations there and Samuel's parents, John and Fannie, chose that city to settle in when they came from Tyrone Co, Ireland in 1826 because of the presence of other family members. There was a plethora of Orrs in that city. I have a map of the area that was sent to me by another kind Ancestry member. It shows Samuel's shop. If you would like, I think I can forward it. We are traveling at present so I may need reminding. Marilee

looking for help with campagna and orr family

I am hoping someone can help me . I am researching my family Helen Orr b 1904 to Thomas Orr and Anna Lynch , she was committed to Grafton Hospital in 1941 by her brother in law Edward Campagna than trasferred to Florida State hospital . Now Helen had only one sister Lenora Veronica Orr who was born 1908 in Boston . I cannot find a marriage on Edward and Lenora so I am at a stand still .
Helen married a Ellery Westphal in 1928 in Dade county florida . they had a son Ellery Jr. in October 1928 in Lynn Massachusetts . I am thinking maybe they married after the child was born . Not sure . They are in the 1930 census in Hialeah Florida . The child died in florida in 1932 . she was in the 1945 census of the state hospital .
I am not trying to babble on ...... But Helen was born Almira F Orr but her committment papers say Helen I know that it is the same person because the papers I have lists her parents as Thomas J Orr and Anna Lynch .
I got in touch with Florida Archives and they said patients at the state hospital did not have obituaries . But she died in 1981 in Gadsden County Florida .
Any help is appreciated

thank you Tee
irishgirl1@frontiernet.net

Not sure if you are still researching but I have found holes in the Joseph being Davids father theory... my main reason for disbelief is that Josephs wife Nancy Agnes McElhaney was born in 1787 making her 12 when David would have been born. I cant say with certainty that they arent his parents but I have yet to find documentation to support it and the ages seem odd to me.... just my thoughts. Would love any insight you may have
Sincerely
Heather

Hi there.. I am a decendant of David Orr b 1799 also, and I have been trying to find info on his parents. I saw your post was from several years ago and was hoping maybe your research has lead to something as mine has not. I had origionally thought as I see many people do that David was the son of Joseph Orr but what I have found is that Joseph would hve had to be 17 and his wife altho they wouldnt have been married yet would have been 12 when David was born. Im not sure that it is correct info and was wondering what you may have found. Any help or hints would be appreciated.
Thank you
Heaather

I have traced my family to John Orr b 1787 in Scotland, married to Annie Kyle. There was a family kilt donated to a museum years ago from the description my grandmother gave me it had a lot of red in it. I am trying to find out which museum it went to. She did not remember and since has past away. From what I can find that would mean my family branch would be a sept of Macgregor or Mactavish. Do you have any information on John Orr?

Hello,
My ancestor John Orr came with his new bride Francis Rodgers to Allegheny City ( Pittsburgh) abt 1826. I know their history here in the US, but am trying to discover relatives, stories, of them in Ireland. He wrote a letter back to a Mrs. Rebecca Orr, Glencordial, Omagh, Co Tyrone dated 1848. In it he mentions a brother James and wife Maria ( here also in Allegheny City per census, b 1801 and 1808 respectively), a brother Samuel, sister Jane, mother ( no name) and grandmother (no name) all in the Omagh area. The letter was made public in 1993 by a Ms. Elizabeth Orr, Woodhouse Gardens, Rostrevor, Co. Down. I would enjoy sharing info with anyone who knows these folks or info abt how to do research in Ireland. I'm fairly new at ancestry searches and very new at researching other countries.
