Jose Juan Ortega Mendoza (maybe Colorado or anywhere)

family lore in my house is that my Grandfather Jose Juan Ortega Mendoza, from Valle de Santiago, Guanajuato, married in Colorado circa late 1940's, early 1950's. He didn't live there long. He settled here in California. Does anybody have a similar story where their elderly mother spoke of a lost husband? I'm just trying to follow a trail and find out more about my own grandfather's life as a young man. He immigrated in the early 40's, I think.

This attachment includes a photograph, in case it jogs anybody's memory or resembles any old pictures in their own box of memories. Maybe he was unidentifiable to someone until now.

Hi My great-grandmother is Ines Ortega-Quiroz. She the one standing on the left side next the picture of another daughter who had passed. Ines and Eugenio left Sonoyta and moved to Ajo. Eugenio died in Ajo and is buried there. I have heard rumors that something bad around the time they left. Either the Federalies or Villa's group came into town and tried take over. Story has it Ines was missing part of finger trying to protect her daughters. An article in The Journal of Arizona History has Isuara Quiroz (married another sister of Ines) was taken hostage and left in Cabonac and had to walk back to Sonoyta. Does anyone else have similar stories to this event.

In the 40's Ines was living in Los Angeles and would visit her sisters in Sonoyta.

Francico Ortega was my grandmother's uncle. And yes he had 10 daughters. The older daughter was born in San Gabriel, California then the family went back to Sonoita, Sonora. It seems like my side of the family lost contact with Francisco's family. I do have a picture of Francisco and his wife and 9 of his daughters. I would like to share any info you have of the family.

Meant to type in -My Great-grandmother was Longina Ortega - she was an American Indian who traveled to Yuma, Arizona Indian reservation back when there was no border- The Indian tribe was named by the conquistadores as Papago- the tribe changed it to Toho'no-o-otom. I can not find a birth certificate on her or her last place of residence all I found was an article dated 1936 where 3 indians died in a Car accident-and her and a Herman Coz were near death. can not find the follow up on that article either. assuming she died around that year. she was married to Great-grand-father Juan Cardenas.

I am also interested in establishing some ties to the cousins who are still living, I know we are many. There are Sena and Sanchez cousins as well.

Jaime, your family was in our home in Santa Fe many times when you were quite young. Mario, I am of the generation that was more acquainted with your uncles.

Abrazos desde Tejas, gol

Her father was Inocente Ortega who was married to Antonia Montoya. Their children were Bernal, Ancesto, Epiminio, Pablita, Donaciano, Antonia, Josefa,Valentina, and Guadalupe. I think Pilar married Pete Walters.

La Cueva, San Miguel, New Mexico - Ortega families

I am searching for ANY members of the Ortega family that live or lived in La Cueva, San Miguel, New Mexico (currently Villanueva). I am specifically reseaching Natividad Ortega (DOB 1902), son of Cruz and Manuelita Ortega, but anyone connected to Cruz in any capacity would be great. Any information would be GREATLY appreciated.
