Hi there,
Mary Brodel was my 4th great grand Aunt. Afraid I have no information on John Osborne's parents. But I did run across a bit of amazing history while reading a history of Clee. It referenced a certain sheep stealer named Joseph Osborne from Grimsby who lived on Pasture Street and raided nearby farms at night (sentenced to a year in jail). I did some searching and found the court record and newspaper article. He was indeed my cousin and your uncle. He was John and Mary's grandson. John Osborne>Robert Osborne>Joseph Osborne. You can find more by looking up Joseph Osborne on my public tree, The Broadley Family Tree. Amazing story to stumble across. Do you have a public tree? I would love to swap information. Especially regarding the Brodels who later became the Broadley's when they finally learned to read and write.
best regards
Scott Broadley

This sound similar to information I saw on the State: New Hampshire County: Grafton site. The wife's maiden name was Downing. There was a person named Albert True. They moved to New York, to Minnesota, and ended in Oregon and Washington.

I hope this works for you, I was struck by the similarity of the situation.

I have a connection to Osbornes in my tree, however they link in around 1600 or so. I see a John L Osborne born around that time in Tennessee, could that be him? Did he serve in the military? What was is occupation? Where did he live throughout his life? If you can answer some of these questions I can help search too.

My grandfather's sister (Velda King) in 1925 married a Thomas Osborne in DesMoines, Iowa. They later moved to Omaha, Nebraska. I don't know if they had children or not. I do know he died up there (1968). In my grandfather's other sister's orbituary, it still has them living in Omaha in 1955. I don't know if they stayed married or divorced. My family lost touch with them. If there's any Osborne's out there who have any information, please let me know. Thanks!!

Minnie Osborne and John Edwards divorce

My grandfather (John Merideth Edwards) married Minnie G Osborn on 12/23/1925 in Robertson County, TN. They appear together in the 1920 and 1930 Census, but, in the 1940 Census, John is listed separately from Minnie and marked "Divorced". Unfortunately, I haven't found an official record of this divorce, which must have occurred between 1930-1935. Does anyone have a record of this, or any information on what happened to Minnie after they divorced?

Hello, was wondering if you ever found anything on them. I am stuck here, run into different names as I go farther back. Not sure, I seen a family tree that her father was Walter knight, mother Elizabeth gunn. Their child, Isaac knight. It keeps going, hits Owen Tudor b. 1400. Which is where England's royal Tudor name began. However, it's hard to believe everything I read online, would like facts. Nyhelp would be great, thanks!

I am searching for the parents of Thomas Osborne born 1820 in Virginia; the 1850 Census has him living in Williamson County, Tennessee; and by the 1860 Census he has moved to Barren County, Kentucky. He married Lucy Greer; daughter of Isaiah Greer and Joanna Saunders born 1826 in Franklin, Virginia; in 1842 location unknown.

Any help would be appreciated. A relative of mine believes that he is the son of Branch Osborne; but, I have not found any evidence of that.

I procured an obituary from the Georgetown CO archive dept. The obit for Abner McDowell is as follows:
Body of A.M. Osborne railroad conductor who was killed in an accident on the Northern Pacific Railroad was brought to Silver Plume on Saturday; the funeral was from the home of his sister Mrs. H. Roberts, under the auspices of the Knights of Pythias; conductors, McLaughlin and Sullivan of the North Pacific and conductor, Clark, of the Julesburg Short Line and conductors Ingling and Griner of the Colorado Central and Denver Pacific attended. (courier 5/7/1885.
He is Buried in the Silver Plume Cemetery (AKA) Pine Grove, in the Knights of Pythias section. I looked for 4 hours to no avail (of course at 9,200 ft, there was already several inches of snow on the ground. It is believed that he is buried with the Roberts family. Unfortunately, I will not be able to return to the cemetery until the spring (2012).

David Osborn (Abner was my g-great uncle).
