Other than his birth and death dates I have his marriage certificate to Lucinda Lyons and maps of where his property. Let me know if you want this info. Henry R.
Jacobus Ostrander and Elizabeth Andrew

I would be interested in hearing from anyone descended from Jacobus Ostrander, who is listed in the Ostrander Family History as #15681, born ca 1731, the son of Jacob Ostrander and Marytje Roosa. He married Elizabeth Andrew(s) and lived in Saratoga County, New York. I believe the Ostrander Family History has incorrectly identified his parentage so would like to hear from descendants in hopes of identifying his parents. Send an email to

Chris Brooks
BrooksKCMo@gmail.com

Thanks

Chris

Hi! Oh my goodness do I EVER have alot more info for you! When I was doing my research I hit on another person who'd done their family tree and it was on line. They gave me so much info, it's the Ferguson Family Tree. I have info all the way back to the first Ostrander to come to North America, Pieter Pieterzen Ostrander born in 1620 in Holland. I am going through the painstaking process of proving everything for myself, so I'm not done sifting through.
James Daniel Ostrander had 9 siblings. Chinguacousy ( a township in Brampton) is actually about 10 minutes from me, and there is a cemetery there called Page Cemetery in the village of Huttonville, Ontario where there are 20 Ostranders buried. I visited there last summer and took pictures of all the Ostrander graves I could find. I also have a picture of James Daniel Ostrander's parents (Loyal Ostrander and Phoebe Facer) that another "family" member sent me whom discovered my search through ancestory.ca They too are buried at Page cemetery. Google it, type in Page Cemetery, Huttonville, Ontario. Where abouts are you? If you want to email me directly, here's my address: kawinkels@gmail.com, and I can send you some photos. If you enter Loyal Ostrander born 1801, died 1889, on ancestry.ca you should probably see this other person from the Ferguson family tree pop up. Have a look at their tree and go from there. Good luck and have fun!
Kim

Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply! I wonder if the"Western" Ostrander, assuming it's not a name, referred to James E. since he moved to the west.

Do you have any further information about the family further back? Do you know if James Daniel Ostrander had any brothers or sisters?

I have found a record of a James Ostrander (1793-1881) from Chiinguacousy, the name of a community in Brampton that James E. came from. Have you come across that community name in your research? Do you know if this James was the father of James Daniel?

There is a tradition in our Ostrander of naming the first son James. Are you aware of this practice in the family?

Thanks for your help.

Hello!
Yes, we are of the same family. The children I have found of James Daniel Ostrander and Mary Jane Boomer (don't know about the "sarah" part) are Maria Frances Ostrander, Western Ostrander, and William Ostrander. I didn't know about a James E. Interesting! I am a descendant of Maria Frances, who married Matthew Ostrander Loree (a bit of intermarriage went on then - weird I know). They had a daughter named Olive Pearl Loree who is my Great Grandmother. Thanks for the message, I had put this all away for the past few months but now you've sparked my interest once again.

I am looking for confirmation/documentation of Alson's second wife whom I believe to be Ruth Scribner- married about 1892. Had one child Agnes abt 1894 though I don't believe they were together at the time of her birth. Agnes went on to marry Merrill Dence in 1921 in Northville, NY. Can you help? Maria Frances married Matthew Loree, and then had a daughter Olive Pearl Loree, who married William Herbert Bell. Pearl and William had a daughter named Ruby Marguerite Bell. Ruby married Herbert Ralph MacCallum and had my dad, Herbert Richard MacCallum. My dad married Doris Anne Gibb. They had me and my brother Richard George MacCallum. Between my brother and I, we've given them 5 grandchildren......and so it continues. Kim Winkels (macCallum)

Hi There,

I would love to have any info that you can provide on John Ostrander. He appears to have been born sometime between 1811-1816. On the 1850 Census, his wife is Ann. She is missing on the 1860 Census, and there is a Sarah instead, but it doesn't specifically say that she was a wife. Any info that you have on John would be great.

Hi Debbie,

Your information from your gg-Aunt Clara is very interesting. My gg-grandmother Ellen Augusta Ostrander (daughter of John C) is buried at Ganong Cemetery in Westland Michigan. Also buried there is a Marshall Ensign (born 1844-died 1918), and two other Ensign's, Sarah and Clarence Jr. Not sure how the three Ensign's are related to each other, but after reading your note, I realized that Marshall Ensign is my gg-grandmother Ellen's cousin. Interesting that they are both buried in the same small cemetery.
