Your grandfather, Feliciano Otero is my father's half brother. Their father's name is Alejandro Otero born 1893 in Las Vegas, New Mexico. After Alejandro's wife, Cleotilda Gallegos Otero passed away in 1949, he fathered two children: Alejandro Armijo Jr. born in 1952, and Francis Armijo. Alejandro's father was also named Feliciano, born around 1865.

Busco informacion sobre Juan Colon Gonzalez natural de Orocovis hijo de Pablo Colon y Juana Gonzalez nacido aproximadamente para el ano 1850 o 1860. Hi--My dad oscar otero was from los lunes,1922?? He had property in los lunes from the tomas otero land grant in valencia county/los lunes. His mother was bartola chaves otero, married to tomas otero. My dad had an aunt who lived in Belen. Most of his immediate family moved to CA--through work for the santa fe rr. My dad's other grandmother's name was Candida, she was from the otero side. My sister frances lived in chula vista/national city for a very long time and about 3 years ago moved to peralta/los lunes. My younger bro, oscar, lives in el paso. your grandfather and my dad would have been about the same age. He attended los lunes high school and was a Japan. POW/Bataan survivor. betty

My family was part of the land grant (otero county) My grand father married Josephina gabaldon and they had 6 kids. any info you might have I would appreciate. My name is Maria Elena Otero and I am looking for my father's family. I have 5 siblings from my father Pamela Otero, Pablo Otero, Miguel Otero, Jennifer Rosado and Kimberly Perez. My father was Pablo Otero later changed his name to Pablo Rosado after my grandfather acknowledged him some years after I was born. My grandmother was Virginia Otero and my Grandfather was Gregorio Rosado and both lived in Barrenquitas, PR. My father had alot siblings from both parents not sure of how many. I know that he had a sister Carmen and brothers Antonio (wife Flo) and Frankie. My father passed away in 1992 and my mother in 2006. Reason I am asking is because I was told by my mother that my father had a son approximately 13 yrs older than me which would make him about 55. I am not sure if this is true or not but would like to get to know my father's family better and do a family history. I also know that He had a sister in Luquillo as well. Any information would be much appreciated.

Obituary: Marcelina "Mela" Otero

Marcelina Mela Otero, with her family at her side, entered the arms of our Lord on Monday April 5, 2010. She was a grand lady who loved and honored life, her family, and extended herself graciously to all that knew her with loving kindness and a warm smile.
She was born on June 2, 1925, in Adelino, New Mexico, where she was raised and schooled. She later married Luis Otero on Jan. 1, 1946, and later moved to California in 1949. She worked various jobs throughout her life, helping to support her brothers and sisters in earlier years, and worked in janitorial service for some time. As a homemaker, she can be remembered for her embroidery craft work and cooking-up those great beans and tortillas and her wonderful sense of humor.
She is survived by sons, Dennis Leroy Otero, Robin Michael Otero and Patrick Thomas Otero all of Barstow; daughter, Celina Hall of New Jersey; seven grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Luis Otero; and a son, Louie Otero Sr.
A Celebration of Marcelina's life will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 505 East Mountain View in Barstow. A visitation will be held this evening from 5 to 7 p.m. with a Rosary to follow at 7 p.m., on this day of April 7, 2010. A Mass of Christian Burial will concluded services at 10 a.m. on Friday April 8, 2010.
Arrangements entrusted to Horizon Memorial Services of Barstow, 252-5222.

I believe I located three references or leads for siblings Carlos and Candelaria Otero.

Carlos M. Otero is identified on the S.S. Death Index. The date of birth is listed as Nov. 21, 1947 and date of death as Jan. 21, 1993 in Phoenix, AZ. The S.S. card was also issued in AZ. He is also identified on the U.S. Public Records Index as being born in 1947 and living in Fabens, TX. for a time.

Candelaria Otero appears on the U.S. Public Records Index. On it, it says she was born in 1951, and lived in Dallas, TX. for a time. No other info was displayed.

No info on Rosa Moreno however.

Otero cousin, Paul Olvera

P.S. As a side note, Roberto Otero's grandmother was also named Candelaria Otero (by marriage). Roberto Otero may have named his daughter Candelaria in honor or rememberance of his grandmother Candelaria. It makes sense once you realize the grandmother's name was Candelaria. The name Candelaria was not that common.

How did you have this information? Are you a descendant of theirs? Some of the dates I have seem odd. I have Agustin born in in 1739 and Teresa born in May 1745. I have them marrying in 1760 in Guanabacoa. I have the same dates as you for Jose Maria.

You should planify your next vacation to visit Puerto Rico.
Morovis is a small town very deep in the mountains that when the colera plague infest the world all the towns of Puerto Rico with the exception of Morovis were infected with the disease. Rigth now there is excellent roads that you can use to get there fast. If you have all the facts handy an old person could tell you easily helping you to discover more about your dead and living relatives.

In the center of the island people is open to friendship more that in the cities. Morovis historicaly is a very friendly town. In the time of slavery, masters dealt with slaves kindly alowing slaves to eat with them at the same table and the whites and slaves embraced each others with hugs and kisses before going to sleep. When the slavery ended former slaves prefered to stay with their masters as workers and afterwards when they died their offspring left the coffee farms. This is a real fact revealed by an ancestor of a slave master of Morovis. Slavery was not and institution in Puerto Rico as it was in Cuba.

My grandfather name was Eduardo Otero Gonzales born 1865 in Morovis. His wife was Carmen Santiago born 1n 1880. His father (my Great-Grandfather was Rufino Otero and his wife was Amalia Gonzalez. I don't know much about by Grandfather and was wondering if anyone knows anything on him. Please note that he died in 1952. We don't know if he had any brothers or sisters. hi, my dad, oscar otero, was a cousin to a ben cordova. both were from the los lunas, tome, jarales & belen area. ben, passed away a few years ago in albuquerque. both were bataan march, japanese pow survivors. oscar's father was miguel otero, married to bartola chavez. i believe ben's mother was my gr-grandmother's (frances castillo) sister. If your otero family is part of the otero land grant in valencia county there we are in the same family tree. the new mexico geneological society in albuquerque probably has alot on gertrudis. bettyanne
