Re: Willhelm Malone Ott

Our Wilhelm Malone Ott may now be know as Billy M Ott. In the 1930 census he was know as Billy Wallace, taking his stepfathers name. In the Muskogee, Ok 1950 city directory he was a salesman for Kress. His wife Cleone worked for Kress In Tulsa OK in 1934 before they were married. I wonder if this is a coincidence or if this Billy is our Wilhelm M. Ott. The mother of our W M Ott was mary Elizabeth Hinkle. She died in Jefferson city, Tenn in 1950. Her obit says she had a son living in Chicago at the time of her death. I have never determined that she had another child. So I don't know if her son in Chicago whom was called Billy Schuart is our W M Ott or if the Billy M Ott in Muskogee is the right one. Maybe neither. Something to think about and search more.

Melvin Thomas Ott (the famous baseball player) was married to Mildred Rosina Wattigny on 2 Oct 1930 in New Orleans, Louisiana. They had two daughters: Lynn Ott (married name Loria) and Barbara Ott. Barbara Ott was his daughter. She was born on 10 Dec 1935. I believe she may have died in 2007

John Ott, b. 1803, Probably in Philadelphia, d. 1873 Blair Co., PA

Looking for John Ott's parents. Reputedly, father (may have been Michael) immigrated from Germany. John was a Shoemaker as were several of his sons, so maybe father was also a shoemaker. John married Hannah C. Beck (b. 1805 in Germany, d. 1869 Rebecca Furnace, Huston Twp., Blair Co., PA) around 1822 or 1823 and I can find him in the 1840 Woodbury, Huntington Co., PA Census. Woodbury later became Huston Twp., Blair Co., where he lived until death in 1873. There was also a John Ott in Lebanon, PA around 1830 but gone in 1840. I think he, too, if not the same person, was a shoemaker. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you for the info on the Seegers. I was very happy to get Catherine's maiden name. Do you have any information on the Otts, especially, Henry's family. I have sent for a death certificate from Hamilton County hoping to identify Joseph or Henry or Joseph Henry Ott, whichever is his name or his father's name. I know my Henry's father was Joseph, married to Mary Seegers, but I can't get anything to associate them. Thanks for your help and for the information.
Jo

I have been searching for information on the Ott family in Cincinnati. Henry Ott, aka, Joseph Ott, is the father of my mother-in-law. Her mother was Frances Buecker Ott, boren12/18/1893 and died 3/4/1935. I believe her grandfather was Joseph Ott, married to Mary Seegers. Mary Seegers was the daughter of George Seegers, born 1834 in Penn. and married to Catherine (?). Siblings of Mary Seegers were Elizabeth Seegers married to John Poth born 8/1842; George Seegers Jr. born 4/1867; Emma Seegers married to Howell Troxell. I believe Emma Seegers Troxell signed the Draft Card you referred to. The death certificate of Henry Ott showed born 8/14/1883 and dief 3/22/1945, wife Frances Buecker. Parents as Joseph Ott, Cincinnati, Ohio and Mary "Siegers". His occupation was a Lather and the death certificate shows employer as Chas Henneken Co. He is buried in St. Joseph CCC, Cinti., Ohio.
Frances Ott was born 12/18/1892 and died 3/4/1935. Her father wass Fred Buecker and mother Bernadinea Dietrich. I found an application for a marriage license in 1906 for Joseph Ott, age 24, and Ella Bingham, age 20. Parents on the application were Joseph and Kate Seegers. Residence was 1105 Oehler St., Cincinnati, Ohio. Parents of Kate Seegers were Geo and Kate Klein. Their residence was 1059 Oehler St., Cincinnati, Ohio. I have not been able to tie everyone together yet. I hope this helps.
Jo

Elizabeth Ann Ott (b. 1862), Dale Co., AL

Greetings,

I am working to track down the ancestry of a Gr. Gr. Grandmother of mine, named either Ann Elizabeth OTT or Elizabeth Ann OTT (she went by “Lizzie”), born 10 Jan 1862 according to a Bush family bible record. She married John W. BUSH (b. 16 May 1861) on 10 Jan 1883. Both of these individuals come from the Daleville, Dale county, Alabama area. Their children were James Tillman Marvin BUSH (b. 1884), Burley BUSH (b. 1888), Benjamine Marvin BUSH (b. 1890), Cletus BUSH (b. 1892), Grady BUSH (b. 1897), and Sandy BUSH (b. 1900).

The other written clue in the John W. Bush family bible is a listing of what is probably Elizabeth's grandparents (but perhaps parents), listed as James OTT and Elizabeth OTT. The 'family tree' portion of the bible is very sparsely filled in, and John W. BUSH's grandfather is listed in a place were his father should have been, hence why I am unsure as to where James and Elizabeth OTT fit in relationship to Elizabeth.

In my notes I also have a verbal interview with my paternal grandmother in 1979 -- her grandmother was Elizabeth OTT. By her verbal account, Elizabeth Ott's parents died of Yellow Fever when she was about 3 yrs old, which would have been about 1865. After that, she was reportedly passed from relation to relation as an orphan, which is consistent with a 1870 census record for Daleville, Dale Co., Alabama, which shows her staying with an S.A. (female) and Nancy BROWN:

---------------------------------------
"United States Census, 1870," index and images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/MHK9-YLJ : accessed 26 April 2012), Elizabeth Ott in household of S A Brown (Alabama, United States).
Daleville, Dale Co., Alabama
---------------------------------------
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/MHK9-YLJ
Name: Elizabeth Ott
Estimated Birth Year: 1860
Gender: Female
Age in 1870: 10y
Color (white, black, mulatto, chinese, Indian): White
Birthplace: Alabama
Home in 1870: Alabama, United States
Collection: United States Census, 1870
Household Gender Age
S A Brown F 63y
Nancy Brown F 24y
Elizabeth Ott F 10y

I am guessing that the BROWN women above might be the Sara BROWN and Nancy BROWN listed ten years previously here:

-----------------------------------------
Year: 1860; Census Place: , Dale, Alabama; Roll: M653_8; Page: 562; Image: 66; Family History Library Film: 803008.
-------------------------------------------
Name: Peter Brown
Age in 1860: 62
Birth Year: abt 1798
Birthplace: South Carolina
Home in 1860: Dale, Alabama
Gender: Male
Post Office: Newton
Value of real estate: View image
Household Members:
Name Age
Peter Brown 62
Sarah Brown 54
Richard Brown 19
David Brown 17
Nancy Brown 16
Benjamin S Brown 13
Rachal E Brown 13

Which potentially ties my sought after Elizabeth OTT into the Alabama OTT clan described by Mark James here:
http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&d...

Where Sara A. BROWN was originally Sara A. OTT, twin sister of James William OTT, both born 13 May 1807 to Jacob and Mary Elizabeth OTT, both originally of Orangeburgh SC.

However, no clear ties between my sought after Elizabeth adn this family emerge (beyond that tantalizing 1870 census record), especially if one looks for an OTT couple who both perished about 1865, leaving an orphan daughter behind.

Any clues would be most appreciated!

Best regards,

-- Jim Richardson

I am in posession of a book. The inside friont and back cover has a rather detailed geneology of the William Ott family dating from 1820. The last entry is I believe 1899. Williams wife was Jane Mary Ott. When I purchased the book I had no idea it contained this information. My great grandmother was married to Paul Ott and so far I have not been able to link them. If anyone is researching this family (William) please contact me and I will share all the information in this book. It not only had birth and death years but dates.

I saw your post and wonder if you have dates, and any other names in regards to the Ott family? My Gr Grandfather was Frank Ott, but from MS. and I'm sure he's not this same Frank that you speak of. However, that clan seemed to name a lot of the children after all of the extended relatives. All of my fathers brothers all ended up out in WA and CA, but I understand there were also some cousins and uncles who came West as well. About 15 yrs ago, there were some Otts who ran an antique store on Sunnyside Rd. I never did find out if they were related. Some of the names in my Ott line are John C., Frank or Francis M., Albert, Rowan or Rotan, Finley, Eugene L., Boyd, and others.

Re: Woodrow W. Ott, Williamsport PA

Dear Ms.Ott,
In 1969 I worked as Program Director at WWPA and enjoyed the opportunity to work with Woody Ott and Phil Lane. My News man at that time was Larry Straka a fine young man.
Also during that period the music format was music of Montovani, Frank Chacksfield, Hugo Winterhalter and so on. I suggested at a staff meeting we might incorporate a music format which would be a more middle of the road. Woody at first would hear none of it but when I shared the commercial value of a new format and after about an hour or so Woody and phil agreed it might be time to make some changes.Along with this we also incorporated a telephone talk show and a program where various people in Williamsport were interviewed by myself for an hour once a week.( I don't recall the names of the programs ). Finally after a period of time I suggested a recording studio where we could do all our commercials. Up to that time the commercials had to be done on the News room mike and recorded in the main studio. Well here again it was rejected at first but Woody and Phil saw the possibilities
and the new recording studio was born. I have enjoyed sharing these great times with you and I hope it brings back some memories . Warmest regards
Tony Grau (tonygrau@verizon.net) G

Louis / Ludwig Ott

I am searching Louis Ott, the father of Anna Ott Murp (1836-1925). Anna was born in Wurtemburg, Germany and emigrated to the U.S. about 1852 or 1853, when she was 16 or 17. She lived the rest of her life in Louisville, Kentucky. Anna's death certificate shows her father's name as Louis Ott (mother unknownn). It is possible his real name was Ludwig. I found a Louis Ott in Louisville, but no connection to my ancestor Anna. Thanks.

In his younger years Lee lived with my family in Denver.

For most of my life I heard about him and I would like to say that my family always wondered what happened to him.

I dont know if you found the information you were looking for but according to Lee Orville Hardy Jr. birth certificate his father was born in Houston, Texas in June 1878.

If you are willing I would love to learn about Lee's.

Chandra

You are Kin! Sort of. :) Lincoln's birth name was Fredrick after his Dad but always went by his middle. My middle name is Frederick. Lincoln was my dad who died in 1992. All I have left from the Ott/Stone legacy is my grandmother Jennie's hutch which she got from her grandmother. I remember their house in Hartford filled with Civil War and western memoribilia. Wonder where it all went! I live outside Albany in upstate NY. How about you?
