send me a request directly to my new e-mail address and I will send you an invitation to my ex's tree that I made for him. I had downloaded it for safekeeping and just now uploaded it for you. It will still be private. In the process, the photos were erased, but I still have them on my hard drive...just a long process of reloading them.
genealgurl@yahoo.com
Sherry

Recently discovered an ALICE OTTMAN(N) died Feb. 9th, 1962 in New York. Related to either FEDERICK OTTMAN, B. 1872, or his brother ANTONIO OTTMAN, B. 1874.

Parents of Frederick and Antonio are John Ottman, b.1852 in Germany and Kate Ottman, b. 1851 in New York.

Frederick and Antonio had a sister Wilhelmina, b. 1869, Brooklyn, New York. (Granted Alice could be an unmarried sister).

My line is from Wilhelmina.
Ottmann to Oatman

In researching my Oatman ancestry I discovered my 2nd great
grandfather's brother, George C. Oatman 1836-1917 birth name was originally J.Gorg Ottmann according to papers he filed
for a Civil War pension. It appears that Ottmann is pronounced as Oatman and thus the spelling. In some English
circles Ottmann may be pronounced like ottoman without the
second o.

He appears to be the first in his family to have been born
in the U.S. He was born in the Town of Verona,Oneida County
in Central New York. All his brothers were born in western
Germany or eastern France. This family were members of Saint
Peter's German Lutheran Church in the hamlet of Churchville in the Town of Verona,Oneida County,N.Y. and many are buried at the church cemetery there.

In this area there is an Ottman Road, the last n's was dropped and there is an Oatman Road.

David L. Sadler
P.O. Box 47
Clockville,N.Y.

Does anyone have any information on this person (or family)?
Jacob OTTMAN[N] was born 1672 and died 1751 in the Catholic parish of Büchenau, Bruchsal, Baden. Apparently he married (1) Eva Margaretha Nick, (2) Anna Maria Schilling. Ann Maria died in 1733. He was the son of Martin Ottmann and Dorothea. The record of his death seems to say that he (or his mother) was from Italy ("ex Italia").

Our Ottmans arrived in the 1750s and most remained in the Upstate NY region, although one wing went to Canada with the Loyalists and one to Onondaga County, one to Southeast Michigan and one to Wisconsin. Write Mary Ottman Jenness at jenness@cyberus.ca and she can put you in touch with a lot more folks than I can. Also try ancestry.com, familysearch.com, genealogy.com , the counties you think your family came from and try a google search using your names in quotes - I've had some good luck this way, surprisingly enough. I will be unavailable for a while, but I wish you the best and hope we are connected. Marlena Amalfitano
