I sent a reply but didn't hear from you or didn't receive if you sent. I am still hoping I will. I have been researching for years to find out about his life before he married the second time. I have all the information from the time he married until he died.

Thank you for your response. I have information on his descendants but nothing before he married Martha Ann McCaskill in Missouri. They had four children one of which was David Jackson Owen, b. December 05, 1865, Winona, Missouri. He was my husband's great grandfather. James William Owen was ordained: 1855, Methodist Episcopal Church, South OBIT: August 13, 1873, St. Louis Christian Advocate The obit did not give any information from Kentucky. A living family member and descendant of James William Lee Deprophet Owen (James W. Owen's son) remembers being told that James W. had "raised" another family before marrying Martha McCaskill and based on age this makes sense. It would be wonderful if your James W. and my husband's James W. were one and the same. Would love to know his parent's name and any other information you have on him. I found a James W. that seemed to fit the puzzle but he was born in Ohio and my James W. was born in Kentucky. I will send all the information on his life in Missouri if you are interested. Thanks again for your reply. I am sending you my email address. Clara Lou Owen owen.ok@gmail.com

My fifth great grandfather's name was James W. Owen and he was born right around 1808. You said he was in Missouri and Tennessee, but that you can't find any other info and that the woman he was married to may have been his second wife. I remember my great grandmother telling me that his first wife died early on and that supposedly he left the rest of the family and did not return. I am from Kentucky (also where he started my branch of the family tree). I'm interested to see if they are the same James Owen and if maybe he started a new life in a new state. Because this was so long ago, it was common for men to change their history including birthplace. Let me know if you'd like to discuss further.

To be honest we don't have very much information at the moment. We know that my dad and his siblings were all born in droxford Hampshire so have managed to link all of them in. Not sure where they were living when they met though, we believe they were still in Hampshire when William died but as he was in the navy at that point we are not too sure if he died in duty or was in a different port/base when he died. All my dad could tell us was that he was about 12 when William died, making it around 1950. Annoyingly because William Owen is a very popular name and we do not know his middle name I have been havin trouble tracking down any information. As for his wife Edna I have managed to find her listing on the death index but I am drawing blanks for birth and any other listings. I did hope the 1911 census would help for both of them but no luck.

Ora Owen, Stone Cutter, NYC, b 1803 d 13 Jul 1849

I am looking for the parents of Ora Owen. Many genealogies have his parents as Thomas Owen and Martha Arnold of Glocester, RI, but I have yet to see one source to prove this. Ora Owen married Anna B (no one knows her maiden name) and did have a daughter named Martha Arnold Owen (the closest suggestion to parentage). Ora and Anna also had a daughter Grace who married George Armstrong Copeland. Martha Arnold Owen married Gerard Tameling. All lived in New York. All are buried in Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn, NY. Internment records do not say who the parents are of Ora or Anna. This Ora Owen was a granite stone cutter in NYC and had a partnership with Alexander Lawrance called Lawrance and Owen. That is all I can tell you. Does anyone have proof this Ora Owen was born in Glocester, RI? When and where did he marry? What is Anna B's maiden name? When did Ora move to NYC?

I have a John OWEN who was reportedly born in 1655 in Llanfor, Merionethshire, Wales. He died in 1715 in Whiteland, Chester Co., Pennsylvania.

John OWEN had the following child:

2.	i. ANN2 OWEN was born in 1683 in Wales. She died in PA. She married JOHN MORRIS. He was born in 1679 in Hilltown, Bucks, Pennsylvania, USA. He died in 1732 in Hilltown, Bucks, Pennsylvania, USA.

I'm trying to find John OWEN's ancestors. I know there was also a Thomas OWEN in the Whiteland area during the same time period about the same age, also from Wales. Could they be brothers?
Owen families - Waterford, Erie Co. PA 1850

There were 5 Owen men listed as head of household in the 1850 census: James (age 36), Niram (age 33), Hiram (age 29), John (age 27) and Samuel (age 21). All were born in New York and their children, the oldest age 9, were all born in Pennsylvania. Also included in James's household was Bula, age 73. Does anyone know anything about these families?

I'm actually looking for a Mary Owen who was married to Philip Stroud and lived in neighboring Crawford Co. PA for a while. Census records show her born in the 18-teens. I have reason to believe she had a connection of some kind with Waterford, Erie Co. PA.

Susan Milligan
similligan@msn.com

Brackett Owen (1775-1842) of Halifax Co, VA

I descend from Brackett Owen (1775-1842)of Halifax Co, VA through his daughter Temperance. Temperance married Jesse R Haley in Halifax Co, VA in 1826. After 1826, Brackett Owen and Jesse Haley both disappear from the records. Brackett reappears in Halifax Co, VA in 1840 census and Jesse Haley in 1846 in land records. Perhaps they left the area only to return? I am looking for where these men might have been in 1830. Any information is appreciated.

William Owen (1710-1807)

I am new at this and have been trying to fumble my way around. I have been able to get several generations of my Owen family documented. This is my Father. His Mothers side of the family is Reasoner. I was working along and while doing my search, I came across Owen on the Reasoner side of the family also. I traced it up to Edward Owen 1705-1769.
There was here-say that my Grandparents were 5th cousins. It may be true but it will most likely some some time.

How many different Owen lines are there? At least major lines?

I have taken my main Owen line down from William Owen (1710-1807)>Ezra Madison Owen (1770-1859)>James Monroe Owen (1810-1849)>James Columbus Owen (1842-1919)>Joseph Columbus Owen (1874-1939)>Ira Emerson Owen (1896-1965)> and my Father Robert Emerson Owen (1930-1986).

The Reasoner side goes from Edward Owen > Byrd Owen > Wilmouth Owen m. Theophilus Norwood > Sarah Elizabeth Norwood m. William T Lucus > Daniel Webster Lucas > Dora Catherine Lucas m. Orlando Reasoner > Mrytle Lucille Reasoner m. Ira Emerson Owen who had my Father.

From what little I know, it seems you have to travel to do the research that is needed. Initial research can be on the the internet but not if you are looking for that one piece to put it together. Regards...
James W. Owen b 1808 KY - d 1873 Wright, MO

I am trying to find information on James W. Owen born 1808 in Kentucky and died 1873 in Wright, Missouri. Daniel Owen and Hannah Allison were his parents. He married Martha Ann McCaskill b 1825 in Tenn. and died 1883 in Wright, Missouri.

He was licensed to preach while living in Wright, Missouri. One of his children was named David Jackson Owen.

I have hit a wall as far as James W. Owen who married Martha Ann McCaskill. There was a age difference so maybe she was his second wife.

Re: Barnett Owen, b. abt 1745, m Frances Whitlow, b. abt 1745

I am not sure if this info is of value..but...I think you will find that Walter Owen (1708-1765) was married first to Judith Unknown...second marriage to Joyce "Joicy " Barnett (1711-1765) . They had 5 children
Barrett 1745
Joel 1746
William 1748
David 1749 (my ancestor)
Joseph 1751
Walters will was listed in "Wills 1746-1785". In his will he mentions his wife Joyce "Joicy" Barnett. It listed the above children and named Barrett as Executor.

Hal21@sbcglobal.net
