Hi,
Would it be possible to ask at the reunion if anybody is interested in the following. Looking for a male Oxford with possible direct line from Thomas Oxford and Sarah Lulpeck, Hadliegh Suffolk, UK to take a 46 chrom DNA Test to compare with the proven direct male line in my family. I have a James Oxford from this line who went to USA early 1700's and I would like to find possible matches in the USA as I have hit a brick wall. Surname must be Oxford - maternal lines will not prove links.

Best Regards
Ros
rOS

Please is anyone researching the Oxford family in Kent. I am particularly looking for descendants of James Oxford born approx 1813 in Sheerness, Kent, UK.

He was a master mariner and was unfortunately lost at sea and died in 1848. His father was Charles Oxford, possibly Axford, and he died in Sheerness in 1817.

This line would be Afr/Am if this helps to identify. Although when you look at my grandma Viola Parks(Francis Parks daughter) you'd swear they had some Indian or Caucasian blood running through her veins. Cause I'd get comments like is she mixxed with something.

I'd tell them they say Cherokee Indian; but who knows. I'm just trying to write my history as best as I know it. Whether; Afr/Am, Indian or Caucasian they would be all family to me. Doesn't matter.

Francis Parks was married to a Sidney Parks.

I too am descendant of Oxford. We have many researchers in the family. What we have found as of Aug. 2000 is as fallows:
John Oxford (Jr) was born about 1765 in Rowan Co, North Carolina, the son of John Oxford (Sr) and unconfirmed spouse. John (Jr) married before 1790 in North Caroline & subsequently migrated to Ross/Pickaway Co, Ohio about 1804-1805 (Son Elias and subsequent children were confirmed as born in Ohio) Children of that marriage were:
John Oxford (b-unknown/d-unknown)
Jesse Oxford (b-between 1790-1800/d-unknown)
Nancy Oxford(b-about 1794/d-after 1830)
Martha Oxford (b-about 1797/d-after 1820)
William Oxford (b-about 1802/d-unknown)
Elias Oxford (b-1804-1805/d-after 1880)
James Oxford (b-about 1805/d-before 1835)
Mary Oxford (b-1809-1810/d-after 1870)
Elizabeth Oxford (b-1810-1811/d-after 1850)
Sarah (Sally) Oxford (b-Feb. 14, 1813/d-Oct.4,1886)
There are some Oxford geneology researchers that believe John moved from Ohio after 1820 to Tenn, the to southern Illinois were he died sometime after 1836. However, some believe that JOhn died in Pickaway Co, Ohio, between 1820-1824. This believe is based upon (1) the fact that Abel Oxford & several siblings, e.g., Nancy (with husband James Harvey),James,Elizabeth,Mary, and Sarah relocated to Indiana by 1823-1824, and (2) an early Oxford history (written in 1890) by Rev. Isaac Oxford relating that John`s bones lay in Ohio. Until very recently, Oxford reseachers believed that John Jr was son of Samuel Oxford Jr and Bathsheba Barrett. Further, the Oxford Families that moved to west central Indiana were not previous known or included in Oxford researched geneologies. However, those researchers now accepted that our Oxford lineage is directly connected to the Oxfords of North Carolina.
John Sr was born November 3, 1731 in St Paul`s parrish, Stafford, Virgina the son of Samuel Oxford Sr and Mary Ann Brown.(Based upon recently located info, other Oxford reseachers now believe Mary may have been the wife of John Sr rather than his mother.) Land and other records confirm John Sr & brother Samuel Jr migrated to Rowan Co, North Carolina in early 1750`s. John Sr died in North Carolin about 1878-1879

I am trying to research 2 John Oxfords. My husbands Great-Grandfather was John Oxford I have a copy of what we think is his birth certificate 27/1/1857 stating father John Oxford & mother Johanna Donovan, a copy of marriage certificate of John Oxford & Johanna Donovan 28/3/1855, copy of Baptism Certificate 20/2/1857, I have copy of death certificate of Johanna who died in childbirth with Timothy Oxford in 1859. I have a copy of marriage certificate for John Oxford & Emma Duproy on 3/3/1890 which has John Oxfords parents as John Henry Oxford & Anne Murphy, but has Johns's age as 25??? Very, very confusing I will put up the copies of what I have ASAP. Belinda

Hi,
You might have more luck posting on the OXFORD Surname Board.
http://boards.ancestry.com.au/surnames.oxford/mb.ashx
(check other sites with Surname Boards as well)

If you wish to try tracing back to find your history you will need to start by collecting as much info as possible. Parents names and BDM, grandparents etc. (Do not post info on living people though)

Once you have an idea NSW BDM is online and you can begin checking there..
http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/familyHistory/searchHistoricalReco...

QLD and WA are also online and VIC is for a small fee (just google) For SA you will need to post (on the SA Board) and someone should be able to help.

Kellie

Re: Samuel and John Oxford - easily found!

My name is Melissa Hoskins-Kaisk. I an the ggrandaughter of John Meyers and Beulah Oxford-Meyes.I have come across some info on Samuel and John Oxford, much to which you already have.
John Oxford (Jr) was born about 1765 in Rowan County, North Carolina, the son of John Oxford (Sr) and unconfirmed spouse. John (Jr) married before 1790 in North Carolina and subsequently migrated to Ross/Pickaway County,Ohio about 1804-1805 ( son Elias and subsequent children were confirmed as born in Ohio). Children of that marriage were: Able Oxford(b unknown,d unknown)
?John Oxford (b unknown,d unknown)
?Jesse Oxford (b between 1790-1800,d unknown)
Nancy Oxford (b about 1794, d after 1830)
Martha Oxford (b about 1797, d after 1820)
William Oxford (b about 1802, d unknown)
Elias Oxford (b 1804-1805, d after 1880)
James Oxford (b about 1805, d before 1835)
Mary Oxford (b 1809-1810, dafter 1870)
Elizabeth (Sally) Oxford (b Feb.14,1813, d
Oct.4, 1886)
RESEARCH NOTES: There are some Oxford geneology researchers that believe John Oxford moved from Ohio after 1820 to Tennessee then to southern Illinois were he died sometime after 1836. However, I believe that John Oxford died in Pickaway County, Ohio between 1820-1824. My belief is based upon (1) the fact that Abel Oxford and several siblings., Nancy(with husband James Harvey), James,Elizabeth,Mary and Sarah relocated to Indiana by 1823-1824,and(2)an early Oxford history (written in 1890) by Rev.Isaac Oxford relating that Johns bones lay in Ohio. Until very recently, Oxford researchers belived that John (Jr) was child of Samuel Oxford(Jr)and Bathsheba Barrett. Further ,the Oxford families that moved to west central Indiana were not previous known or included in Oxford researched geneologies. However, those researchers now accepted that our Oxford lineage is directly connected to the Oxfords of North Carolina.

The following information was obtained from the Oxford researchers(primarily from James Franklin Oxford`s book: The Oxford Family "On The Move"1668-2000). Although much of the info may be supported by documentation(which I have not researched),some of the data is subject to question.
John Oxford(Sr) was born November3,1731, in St.Paul`s Parrish,Stafford,Virgina, the son of Samuel Oxford(Sr)and Mary Ann Brown. (Based upon recently located information, other Oxford researchers now believe that Mary Ann Brown may have been the wife of John(Sr)rather than his mother). Land and other records confirm John Oxford(Sr) and brother Samuel Oxford(Jr)migrated to Rowan County, North Carolina in early 1750`s.

Member of a fairground family; worked on his father´s travelling shooting gallery and later on a carousel (owner not known). He was in South Wales in 1916 (cinema operator at Whayman´s Cinema in Fleur de Lis nr Blackwood). He was in the army from 1916 until discharged in March 1919. Married Minnie Jessica Simmonds in Milford Haven while on leave in 1917. I would like to know when and where he died. Also what he was doing between 1891 and 1916, and after March 1919. Married Minnie Jessica Simmonds in Milford Haven while on leave in 1917. I would like to know when and where he died. Also what he was doing between 1891 and 1916, and after March 1919. Thank you.

John and Fanny Oxford of Dorset and Lambton Co., Ontario

I am researching John and Fanny Oxford who emigrated from Blandford Forum, Dorset to Ontario about 1870. Their children were William, Mary, Sarah, Charlotte, Janetta, Silvester, Caroline, Henry, Francis, and Alfred, all born in England. Would be interested to hear of anyone else researching the same family.

Bill Oxford.

Yes, you are related. Donald Oxford was my husband's cousin. He lived in Paul's Valley.

Al went to Waco to visit him (the tornado hit the college that year) Al and James were very close. Al would ride the train from Houston to Ardmore and stay w/James, Uncle Iley, Mary, & Nelda Ray. Aunt Mary would fix then sack lunches and take them to the lake. She worked at Penny's there in Ardmore.

So much more. If you would like you can em me at home. I Phyllis still living in the area?

acy_cay07@yahoo.com
