Mary Ann Packwood is my 2nd great grandmother from her marriage to William Hust. She had also been married to William Dennis, William Costello and Seth Wade.

Mary Ann (Packwood) Hust's daughter Melvina (Hust) Tennis named one of her boys Parrington and I believe the name is unique to the Packwood family tree.

There is a Packwood family found on Rootsweb with the name Parrington, but I can't tie my Mary Ann to it. Hopefully, someone can.

Packwoods in Texas

I have been doing my genealogy for the past year and a half and I'm finishing up the last book. I'm going to start putting up Parrington Packwood and his family. My grandfather is Leonard F. Packwood who died in 1971.The last living packwood is Jerry Packwood Of Morgan Mill. I am trying to get dates, names, and places of where they lived and died. I also want to find out if Pammy27 has a picture of Rachel Ann Packwood Rhodes, and if she knows where she is buried? I have a picture of Rachel and her family. If she doesn't then she can contact me. If anyone wants to know of where any Packwoods are buried in Texas just email me or post it here.Thanks.

Richard was my 3rd Great Grand Uncle. I am the grandson of Maud Packwood. I have the Packwood family back to Samuel b: abt 1690, Manchester, England.

If you would like to have my data, it is quite extensive, but I would have to send it to you by my e-mail: b767capt@mustard.net, not Ancestry.com site.

My 2nd Great Grandfather, William "Billy" Packwood and his brother Elisha were early Oregon Territory pioneers, Billy having arrived there in 1844 on the Ford wagon train. They both went to Calif. and Billy came back with a lot of gold. Elisha stayed and had extensive milk cow holdings until a major flood in the San Joaquin, Sacramento valley area wiped his herds out. They are both mentioned in the Hubert Bancroft books about the early pioneers, and these books are on-line, and the originals (probably the only copies) are in the Bancroft library, Univ. of Calif. Berkeley.

Seen me an e-mail if you want what I have to my above e-mail.

Hi, My grandmother was born in Ghana in 1908, daughter of George Henry Packwood, a British army major of the Field Engineers, who was working with the Public Works department (PWD) in the Gold Coast. Her sister was born in the british haedquarters in cameroon. Their Mother was a Constance Maud Mota Ankra of Ghana. My family havee carried out researches on George Henry Packwood’s life. Thanks to the searches I was able to speak to one of Packwood's grandson leaving in Cornwall back in 2001. The stangest experience of my life. Best Regards, Netelka

Nancy, The Packwood family is very large and they tend rename children, grandchildren, etc. with the same names. Parrington is an example. Parrington (Larkin's son) was married to Ellen (surname unknown) and was born abt 1812 in TN, died abt 1892, possibly MO. His son was Parrington Jr. born in CA, your great-grandfather. I would love to know more about this line and the photos of their gravesites would be greatly appreciated. My email address is crhodes@surewest.net. I'm hopeful that we can exchange info on this shared family line. I would love to attend one of your reunions but I live in California but maybe someday. Larkin's granddaughter Rachel (her parentage is still a big question mark) married into the Rhodes family. I do have several photos of her. I look foward to hearing from you. Thanks so much.

Hello, Charlene this is Nancy. I really don't know much about my great grandfather,Parrington and I didn't know that Larken was Parrington's father.I researched and I thought that Parrington was named after his father,Parrington cause I keep getting two Parrington's. One was born in 1849 in California and one was born I believe in Tennessee in 1812. My uncle didn't know that his grandmother's name was Mahalay Anne Head.I am going to my sister's house in FT.Worth tomorrow and I am going to go by the cemetary where Parrington and Mahalay are buried. I will be taking pictures so I will send you copies if you want me too.Just let me know where to send them. My aunt Wanda,Jerry's wife is taking care of the reunion. It is at Morgan Mill, about a 15 or 20 minute drive from Stephenville.Alot of the cousins come and we all bring food and talk about old times.Earl's family lives there and some of Opal's family. L.F' Jr. kids come.I'm not sure how many still live in Cleburne. But I will find out. I know they will be surprized to know that we still have some family that wants to know us. Gotta go for now.But I will try to let you know Monday or Tuesday of all the news. Nancy.

Hello Anthony. You have relatives from Ghana where George Packwood served with the British Colonial Service. He was my great-grandfather. He had two daughters there, one of whom was my grandmother Netelka Theresa Sam (née Packwood). Although he returned to England frequently with my grandmother and her sister, he only admitted to his wife Lillian they were his children from another marrigage in the Gold Coast when he was close to his death. You can contact me by email for further information.

Gabriel Packwood (1836-1916)

Gabriel Packwood was married to Patsy Francis, and then to Sarah Lerena Davis. By Sarah he had some 11 children. One daughter was Martha Dicie Packwood (1878-1943), who was married to James Grugin, Albert Saunders, and then to my great-grandfather William Earnest Jackson. Her first marriage produced a daughter, Maybelle Grugin (1894-1923) who was married to Julius Caesar Gammon. I believe Maybelle was a highwire performer in a traveling circus. Does anyone have information about this line of the Packwood family that settled in Moberly, Missouri?

Have just run across your posting of 5 Oct 2002 where you mention Abigail and John Packwood. I have a Finette Packwood Howard, she married a Thomas J. Ray in 1892, and they named one of their daughters Ona Abigail. Seeing these two names in the same item has greatly interested me. In your research have you run upon the Howard's and how they might have become intertwined? Too, Finette's mother's name was Shumate: is there any connection there? Very interested in hearing from you or anybody else who might be able to shed some light on this.
Thanks. Tom Howell
Gary Packwood
I have a late Grandmother Finette PACKWOOD Howard Ray whose mother was a Shumate (there are several spellings of Shumate in the records I have) born in 1844 in Tenneessee. A correspondent in my research of the name Shumate, et al, has ventured the educated guess that the Shumate name is an Anglican rendition of de la Chaumette from France. This group of Shumates came into New Orleans back in the 1600's or 1700's. Ergo, the possibility of the Shumates and Packwwod connection may come from the LA>AL>TN Route. So my question is does your information have a Shumate, Shewmake, Shumake, etal., or a de la Chaumette in it? I hope so.
Tom Howell
Researching: Howell, Isenhour, Ray, Mulford, Howard, Massey, and Shumate, et al.
So my question is does your information have a Shumate, Shewmake, Shumake, etal., or a de la Chaumette in it? I hope so.
Tom Howell
Researching: Howell, Isenhour, Ray, Mulford, Howard, Massey, and Shumate, et al.
Karen Arp and Gary Packwood,
I ran across the original posting for this series and my curosity got me because of the name "Packwood" . I have come across information that either of you may be able to tie together. I have a late Grandmother Finette Packwood Howard Ray whose mother was a Shumate (there are several spellings of Shumate in the records I have) born in 1844 from Tenneessee. A correspondent in my research of the name Shumate, etal, has ventured the educated guess that the Shumate name is an Anglican rendition of de la Chaumette from France. The this group of Shumates came into New Orleans back in the 1600's or 1700's. Ergo, the possibility of the Howard's, Shunates and Packwwod connection may come from the LA>AL>TN Route. So my question is does your information have a Shumate, Shewmake, Shumake, etal., or a de la Chaumette in it? I hope so.
Tom Howell
