Hi Dave, good to hear from you. It's always very exciting to hear from another Paddington! Have you discovered any links with Paddingtons in England yet? Most of mine are in Hampshire, England, but I'm interested in all Paddingtons worldwide as I'm a member of the Guild of One-Name Studies. Let me know what you know & I'll do my best to help. Contact me off-list at paddingtonatone-name.org, replacing at with @!

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Jenni

Hi Mel. I'm sorry but amongst my data I have no record of Mary, Stephen or Henry. I have recorded every Paddington I've come across wherever they were but most of my researches so far have involved looking at records further south where my family were concentrated. However, I am convinced there must be a link & will continue to look out for your ancestors. Did Stephen & Henry have sons & if so, did they & their families also live in the Overton area?
It's so frustrating when you come up against a brick wall isn't it?
Let me know when you get a breakthrough!
Best wishes
Jenni

I've been researching the Paddington family as a sideline to my one-name study of the Pattenden family, and I too have noticed the confusion between Paddington and Parrington in Hampshire. There is widespread confusion also between Pattenden and Paddington and the half-way house of Pattington. I would be very interested to share information with you.

Hi Mel, sorry to keep you waiting so long for a reply but I work in a school & am only just surfacing from a long holiday!
I assume Stephen's & Henry's surname was Paddington, making that Mary's name by her first husband? I am not aware of Henry though there are a few Stephens about; having said that, there are places I can look. Leave it with me & I'll do some checking....
Jenni

Hello!
I am also descended from a John & Jane Paddington who spent much of their lives in Twyford in the early 1800s. My understanding was that they were the Paddingtons who married in Otterbourne in 1799. Would the Twyford connection tie in with what you know?
Incidentally, I have always taken Paddington and Parrington to be the same surname - to which we can also add Padington and Parington.
Would love to hear from you

Best wishes
Gayle

Hi
I also have found a confusion of the name in Hampshire. I am trying to find info on a Mary Paddington (Partington in some records) who married as a widow in Overton Hampshire to Stephen Crockford in 1818. She already had two sons Stephen & Henry who were baptised in 1816 and I am decended from Stephen. Although she married a Stephen and her son is also named Stephen I am wondering if they were father and son or is the child the result of her previous marriage. I have not been able to find her previous marriage as yet as I know almost nothing prior to her marriage. If you could help my thanks
Mel
