Marc's Grandfather's name was George Mathias Palo. He married Lucille Kathleen Leu. Marc's father and his aunt Charlotte (who lives in Bremerton) were the only two children. Lucille and George divorced with George later marrying Martha (Turpa?) who was herself a divorce.

George Mathias' Parents were Charles Mathias Palo (born in Tampere, Finland and who married Ida Johanna Alqvist who was also born in Tampere Finland - though Charlotte visited the family and said they lived in Ylojarvi which is a few kilometers NorthWest of Tampere). Charles and Ida had two children. George was born 01AUG1905 after the family came to America. Taimi Petronella Palo was born in Finland before they came.

did he have social security numbers? http://ssdi.rootsweb.com His SS-5Form would have his place of birth and parents names.

Have you located his arrival manifest? Any draft registration form? When did he die? When did he get a mittle initial T? There is no middle name in "old country".

He was a son of the late Joseph and Anna Palo; and brother of Edward Palo, Helen Palo and Alma Chuba and the late Joseph Palo Jr., Josephine Macko and Margaret Rabb. Also survived by nieces and nephews. John was retired from U.S. Steel Corp. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the Army for four years. He was a member of St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish, where he was an altar server for 40 years. John was a member of St. Michael's Men's Club, Knights of Columbus Council 2201, Fourth Degree Color Guard of District PA West Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post 0060 and Catholic War Veterans. I do know that Anna (my grandmother) was married, had childred, and widowed before she married Andrew Palo. I do know that she came from Austria/Hungary. I did not know her first husbands name so this is very exciting for me.

My Mom was Catherine Palo. She was born in Washington state and Andrew and Anna Palo were her parents (my grandparents). I had an Aunt Betty in Tacoma.

I was known as Judy & I have a sister, Geri.

I am Gary Balo, the only grandson of Andrew Balo of NANAIMO, British Columbia. Andrew Balo had the original name of Palo when he immigrated, but it was changed to Balo at at some point during the immigration. I am uncertain if he had a a brother named Charles. Andrew and Sophia Balo had 2 children, Eili Balo and Ivy Balo. Eili married Doris Addison of Nanaimo. Ivy married Reg Emms and they had no children. I am the only offspring of Eili Balo. I married Teresa Hastings and we have 2 boys, Andrew & Tim BALO. Hope this information can shed some light on your search. Sophia Balo's maiden name was HAAPALA and had 3 brothers and 1 sister. All 3 brothers lived in Washington State and the sister lived in NANAIMO. The sister ALMA married BOB ALLISON.

My grandfather Johann Palo came from Tower, MN with his family around 1901 to Carbanado, Washington. He worked the coal mines there. In 1916 the family moved to Tacoma, Washington with their six children: Edward, Wino, John, Rosa, Rachel, Ben. All children now deceased. My father was John Palo.

I don't know much about him at all.

He was born 12 Jan 1922
He died 11 April 2000
he was living in Bryson City NC with his other wife

when I was a child the family broke apart I was his first child of 4 before he had his other family. His mother was ANNA Valiska
and his father was also named Paul Palo

I was a twin, and I never got to see her.
Others have seen her, at Emerson high school
in Gary Indiana but I never did, he gave her away
I would like to meet her, they say she looks exactly like me. Not much to go on but I sure would like to find her. She was born the 28th of Dec 1952

I have an Anna Jakubov from the Slovaklands of the Austro-Hungarian Empire during that period of time. She was married to an Michael Lorinc. They had at least two sons, one of which was Michael Lorince who immigrated to to Swoyersville, PA in 1893. The other was Steven who also immigrated to PA. Does this help at all?

My grandfather was Andrew T. Palo, born Oct 13, 1880 in Poland, Austria/Hungary (?) haveconficting info on place of birth. He lived Cle Elum and Tacoma Washington. Married Anna Koval (she had 6 children by George Koval who was killed in a mining accident in Carbonado, Wash in 1903), in 1904 and they had 4 children. I have come to a blank wall on the Palo name but maybe with the name of Palokari I will find something of interest. Any information would be most appreciated.

Not sure if this is of any help. There was an Andrew Palo living in Cle Elum and another Andrew T. Palo in Tacoma, Washington in the 1920 Census.

that Palo was a common name there Onebook he told me to read on the Palo family was a historical book called
War of the Mallets or War of the Clubs. Evidentally there a a rebellion of some sort then.

Hello from a family member. I am the father of Belinda,Danny,Bobby,Patricia,Ronda,Brian Palo
My father was Elmer Palo of Washington State. His brothers were Arnie,Harold and sisters were Vi and 2 others. There was no feud. When Andrew immigrated to Canada on his customs papers he signed Palo with such a flourish that Customs believed the P was a B. The name was shortened- Hope this helps.
Andrew has sons and daughters in British Columbia and there is family in Washington-Palo that are related Out of all Charles Palos children my brother Keith and I are the only ones to carry on the name.
Hoping this is of assistance. we visited the families in Canada so i do know there was no feud.Good luck with your search
