Paradee Family of Delaware

W. Charles Paradee, III a.k.a Trey  (View posts) Posted: 26 Apr 2000 5:05PM GMT
I am looking for any information about the Paradee family of Kent County, Delaware. I am a direct descendent of Stephen Paradee who is known to have been in Delaware in the late 1600s. I have great information to share.

One of my husband's ancestors was Mary Anna Paradee. She married James Fisher Taylor. They lived in Kent County, Delaware.

Mary Anna's parents were Edward Paradee (b. 20 JAN 1818, d. 20 SEP 1896) and Caroline Pierce (b. 7 OCT 1818, d. 22 NOV 1872).

Any information about the Paradee family would be appreciated.

I am researching Pardee's in Kent, Queen Anne's and Talbot County. There is a family "rumor" that our Pardee's use to be spelled Paradee but I have found no evidence of that. Do you have any? Also looking for a Demastinese Pardee. He was my great great grandfather.

Trey,
Do you have a Caleb Paradee, born 1809 in Delaware, married Elizabeth about 1830? Two children William and Mary Ann were born in Delaware, by 1850 they were in Madison Co., IL and had: Issac, Catherine, Ransom, Sarah Jane, Charles, Ellen and Joseph, all born in IL. 1870 Fayette Co., IL two more children are added: Oliver, Francis (mine) and Caleb. The last one is either by a new wife or a daughter in law.
In 1850, David Paradee, age 30 is living with him, probably a brother.
Caleb may be the son of Caleb on the 1810 census, Kent, Delaware, or at least a relative.

I am searching the Tish family. I have just come across a marriage application for 9/20/2885, for Fayette County, Illinois for a Nannia Paradee and a Casper Tish. Can you make a connection? Thank you--Marilyn

Dear Trey,
I also have the direct line of Paradee back to Stephen. It was my husband's direct line, and I have a son also who is somewhat interested in genealogy. But I am the family researcher of over 40 years.
Our Paradee line of Kent Co, DE, begins with Elizabeth Paradee, born 1811-1812 Mispillion 100, Kent, DE. Daughter of Caleb Paradee (proven by land rec), She married 18 Apr 1833, Asa B. Lane 18 Apr 1833, of same place, son of Thomas & Sarah Lane.
In 1834, Asa & Elizabeth Lane moved to Milton Twp, Cass, Michigan and raised a family of 6 children. They are in every census beginning with 1840 until their deaths. He died 1871, she in 1884, (abstract)
Their daughter, Sarah Matilda Lane married Joseph Walton Deputy, of Sussex Co. DE., my husband's gr-grandfather. When some Lanes, Deputys, & others came West they formed a settlement called "Little Delaware" in Cass Co, Michigan.
The ancestry of Caleb Paradee of Mispillion, Kent Co, DE, as far as I have been able to determine (from DAR, land, probate, some court, but possibly others?), as follows:
Caleb Paradee, son of John Paradee & Hannah Luff;
Hannah, dau of Nathaniel Luff Sr (& Deborah (Rodney?)
Nathaniel Luff, son of Hugh Luff & Sarah Hunn,
Sarah Hunn, dau of Nathaniel Hunn, & Priscilla Kitchen.
Nathaniel Hunn, son of Nathaniel & Sarah Keen
Sarah Keen, daughter of Walter & Mrs. . . Keen
Nathaniel Hunn, son of George & Ann Hunne; England
John Paradee & Hannah Luff, he, son of John & Mrs.Paradee.
John Paradee & Mrs.Paradee, he son of Stephen Paradee & Margaret Lowber or Loper
Margaret, dau of Peter Lowber/ Loper & Gartre Nieuland
Stephen Paradee w/ wife Margaret, was son of the first Stephen Paradee. This Stephen had a sister Unity Paradee who married Michael Lowder & raised a large family.
This first Stephen Paradee supposedly emigrated to America abt.1651-1652 ?
Since then, on the Ancestry.com Immigration index, I found the following; (not necessarily complete, however)
Stephen Perdue; 1658 Maryland
Stephen Perdue; 1659 Maryland
Stephen Paradue; 1665 Maryland
(various sources listed)
That completes my outline for the Paradee family of Kent Co, DE. Sincerely, Diane Deputy

Louis Paradee would be my Great Grandfather.
I was following my Grandfather Sabastian Paradee and found this census in 1910 Greenland TWP, MCCOOK, South Dakota which seems to be who you are also looking for. I will send you a photo of the census. might be able to share other info.
