Anna M. Paradise, 88, of North Huntingdon, passed away Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, at UPMC McKeesport, with her family by her side. She was born Sept. 30, 1923, in Duquesne, a daughter of the late Stephen and Anna (Cimbala) Charok. Anna was a homemaker, an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with her four great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Anita Doyle. She is survived by her beloved husband of 68 years, Peter Paradise. Also surviving is one son, Daniel and his wife, Melanie, of McKeesport; one daughter, Nadine Campbell and her husband, Dean, of Jefferson Hills; son-in-law, Wayne Doyle, of Irwin; one sister, Mary Young and her husband, Raymond, of West Mifflin; two grandchildren, Heather Doyle and Carrie Yanez and husband, Sam; and four great-grandchildren, Sean, Aidan, Rhiannon and Katie. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the JAMES W. SHIRLEY FUNERAL HOME, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor J. Langley officiating. Interment will be in Penn Lincoln Memorial Park.

Hi all,

I am hoping for a small miracle, my grandfather was Charles Henry Paradise born in Rhode Isand around 1911 or 1912 he had a brother Albert R. Paradise born in Mass around 1910 and father was Emile J Paradise born in Mass. and mother Jamil Paradise born in Canada.
Here is the problem when Charles married my grandmother Katherine or Catherine Huffstickler she died a couple of years later from turpentine poisining and kidney failure and on here death certificate he is not mentioned in 1932. He is on the birth records of my dad in 1931 Bobby lee Paradise. Here is where it gets trickier i cant find his death certificate if he was still alive he would be around 98, I am assuming he has passed,( maybe or he has been abducted by aliens.) I cant find anything on him the 1930 census has been my first look and the birth records of ever seeing his name besides my dads DD214.

If anyone has any information on anyone in this message pleae contact me at sndy28081@yahoo.com I would really appreciate solving a family mystery that has been 15 years of research and aggravation.

Donald E. Paradis, 86, a lawyer who for 11 years was adviser to the Ethiopian government during the reign of Haile Selassie, died Nov. 28 of congestive heart failure at Sibley Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Paradis moved to Washington in 1980 and was most recently a resident of Mitchellville.

Mr. Paradis had been a lawyer in New York City, when in 1957, at the suggestion of the dean of Harvard Law School, he went to Addis Ababa to advise the Ethiopian government on legislation and foreign policy. He also wrote speeches for the emperor before moving to London in 1968 to become president of an oil company. He later joined a London office of a New York law firm.

From 1980 to 1988, he was an international arbitrator for the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris.

Donald Edward Paradis was born in West Warwick, R.I. He graduated from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Conn., in 1943. After serving in the Navy during World War II, he received a law degree from Harvard University in 1950.

After law school, he helped implement the Marshall Plan for European postwar recovery. In 1953, he joined a New York City law firm specializing in corporate law.

Elizabeth Reid Paradis, his wife of 49 years, died in 1996. A daughter, Nancy Paradis, died in 2008.

Survivors include his campanion of 10 years, Teresa "Tita" deGavre of Mitchellville; two children from his marriage, Martha Evans of Tenafly, N.J., and Timothy Paradis of Portland, Maine; and two grandchildren.

She was born in Erie on October 1, 1925 daughter of the late Rufus and Theresa Hardner. Lois was a member of St. James R.C. Church. She graduated in 1943 from Academy High School and then worked at Trask, G.E. Supply and Erie Insurance. In 1963 Lois married and became a full time wife and homemaker. Her favorite past time was watching classic cinema. Lois was preceded in death by her husband, John P. Paradise and two brothers, Gerald and Thomas Hardner. She is survived by her son, John G. Paradise and friend, Natalie Lamp; six brothers, Kenneth Hardner (Kay), James Hardner, John Hardner (Emily) Timothy Hardner (Andrea), Jeffery Hardner and Christopher Hardner (Marsha) and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc. I had dinner w/Bob F Paradise pvt, us army medical corps last night 11/18/10 at the Elks lodge #167 in Pasadena CA, we invited the vets from the VA West LA hospital. He's in good spirits I chatted w/him and he said he's getting a medal from congress for his service. He said he's 96.

Theresa C. Roy, 82, of Nashua, NH, passed away, Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at her daughters residence in Nashua surrounded by her loving family.

Born on July 6, 1926 in Nashua, NH; she was the daughter of the late Alphonse and Marie Rose (Dube) Paradise.

Theresa was educated in the local Nashua and Hollis schools as well as Ursuline Convent in Stanstead, Quebec. She was co-proprietor for many years at Roy's Variety (known as Eat Here and Get Gas) in South Merrimack, NH, and later worked as a cook at the Hunt Home until her retirement in 1988. Mrs. Roy enjoyed cooking, sewing and different crafts, being a homemaker and more than anything being a mother.

Besides her parents, Theresa was predeceased by four brothers, Alfred Paradise, Edward Paradise, Ernest Paradise and Robert Paradise; and a sister, Annette Downey.

Members of her family include her husband of 63 years, Roger Roy of Nashua, NH; three sons, Robert Roy of Leominster, MA, Edward Roy and his wife Dody of Hudson, NH, and Alan Roy and his wife Susan of Atlanta, IN; four daughters, Linda Roy of Hudson, NH, Darlene Sullivan and her husband Matthew of Nashua, NH, Louise Blake of Merrimack, NH and Denise Roy and her companion, Cathy Coughlin of Nashua, NH; one sister, Arlene Derrickson of Nashua, NH; four sisters-in-law, Theresa Paradise of Milford, NH, June Paradise of Florida, Amy Paradise of Nashua, NH and Lauretta LeBlanc of Hudson, NH; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

I am looking for the parents And others Of Alfred Elzear StCyr (1881-1962) Possibly born in Waterloo Canada or NH. and Florida Paradis(b.1885)in Canada married in 1947. Both the Paradis family and the St Cyr family came from France. The st.cyr's were as the story goes were wealthy land owners and owned the land where the Eieffel tower stands today. Any information would be appreciated.

I am interested in any info for the last name Paradice, which is my mother's maiden name. We don't know much about her grandfather other than the fact that his name was Samuel Isaac Paradice. My great grandmother ran away with him to Spokane Washington (she was from Pacific Grove California). We think this may have happened in 1902-06? WE think he, Samuel Isaac was a traveling salesman.

Does the name Samuel Isacc ring any bells. Also, we think he may have come form either Canada or Louisiana.

If you have any information or could point me in the right direction, I should be very grateful.

In regards to this post, I have additional information, I think.

Harvey Wade Paradise had a sister named Alice.

Alice Marie Paradise is my GGrandmother.

She married James Murphy, my GGrandfather.

My Grandfather was Clarence Murphy.

I am confused on the Tennessee Paradise connection. Everything I see on Ancestry says that she was the daughter of Richard and Sarah Paradise.

I believe that she was a neighbor who married Oregail (or Aragail)

Help please!!!

I am sure that someone already figured this out. Any help woulf be appreciated.

Rose Ann Paradise –
1.) From family, she was born October 12, 1886 in MA around Boston and her family was from Canada (French Canadian from Quebec?). She had a sister named Eva who married a Schieman (sp?) and got divorced shortly afterwards which was a big deal in the early 1900s. She also had 4 brothers. She married Daniel Columbus Foley and moved to St. Louis, MO. I called her Nana and she was very short (in the 4’ height range). I also believe she had arthritis in her spine which caused her to bend over. She died November 29, 1977.
2.) According to the 1920 census, Rose’s father and mother were listed as both being Canadian. According to the 1910 and 1930 census she listed her parents as both French Canadians. She was born about 1887 in MA.
3.) According to the 1920 census there was a Thomas and Sophie Paradise living in Quincy, MA with 3 sons and their daughter Eva Sc???man with her two children’s last name being Schieman. They moved to the US from Canada in 1884.

My great grandmother was Rose Paradise. She married Daniel Foley from Boston MA and they moved to St. Louis. I believe her father was Thomas Paradise. The stories in the family are that her family moved to the US from Canada and Rose was born here. I have not been able to confirm the connection between Rose and Thomas. I also know that Daniel Foley's family came from Nova Scotia, I think in the same time frame.

I believe you are talking about the Paradis family in that area. I was born and raised there. The Paradis name is quite well known there. If you spell it correctly maybe they will respond.

We were cleanning out my Parents house in Ky and ran across a picture of George Knight-Paradise written on it. Born-1837 Died-1932 he was 95 yrs. old when he died and on the back of the picture it had Banjo Picker. at the bottom on the front of the picture it had Grandpaw Knight. We are trying to find some kind of information on him and would like to know if he is realeted.

I have Paradise's in my family line as well. The addition to the "E" on the end may be wrong.....

My G-G-G-Grandfather was James Paradise who married Demetilde LeValey. They had at least one child named Josephine Paradise who was born approx. May 15, 1858 and died July 30, 1907. Josephine Paradise married Norbert Faucher.

All of the above were from Canada, around the St. Thomas De Pierreville area in Quebec.

Does any of that sound familiar? I hope so.....

Thankyou for you message. My mother jacqueline arbour was born in Bonaventure. Now resides in Montreal. I was adopted at 13 months. My adopted mother is a first cousin to jacqueline. She to is an Arbour. Marie Alda Arbour, her mother has the same name. Also from Bonaventure. My mother Jacqueline never married my father, we share the same birthday-she turned 19 the day i was born. My parents met in Montreal and were together only a short time.

I am an ARBOUR researcher with thousands of ARBOURs in my files. However, I do not seem to have a union between Jacqueline ARBOUR and Christian Joseph PARADIS (the "normal" French-Canadian spelling). I do have a number of Jacquelines who could be your mother, though. These women seem old enough to have borne a child in 1944 but not yet married. I don't have any of them living in Rimouski, QC, but that doesn't mean that they weren't. It also doesn't mean they didn't go to visit relatives and have a baby there.

Patsy Paradise - Ole Daddy & Ole mamie were my great-grandparents. To Rick Paradise - I am your Aunt Pat. We on looking for Paradise info on this website. We are directly related to William Paradise & Parker Paradise. Pat told Debora Paradise-Whitt about the Paradise mansion in Joelton some time ago. Your grandfather (Harvey Wade Paradise) was born on October 17, 1896, on Paradise Ridge, Whites Creek, on Crocker Springs Road.

Thanks for your reply, it would be great to receive the family tree you have as I have very little to go on at the moment. The asset I do have though is that I live within about forty minutes travelling distance of Wiltshire. Hope to hear soon.
