I am the daughter of Milton Carl Kennedy, Sr and Irene (Brackeen) Kennedy-White. Her father was Josiah Young Brackeen and Her mother was Francis Elizabeth (Smith) Nichols-Brackeen. My mother has a twin brother. Francis father was Rev. William R. Smith and mother Mary Jane (Cryer) Smith. She filed her Eastern Cherokee application 26224 on June 24, 1907. MARY JANE’s father was Joseph Cryer that died at Camp Douglas as a CSA and is buried around confederate mound at Oakwood Cemetery in IL. Her mother was Elisabeth (Parham) CRYER. ELISABETH’s father was Elisha PARHAM mother was Sarah (Swarts) PARHAM. Her sister was Mary (Parham) Lamons who married James Lafayette Lamons. I have been told ELISHA was 3/4 cherokee indian applications claim he lived on reservation. That would mean one of his parents was full blooded and the other was 1/2. On a Morgan County, AL census I found JACK. I did find a Jack and BIG JACK having lived on reservation. Can anyone confirm this discovery as fact?

Do you have a document source that indicates the children of Avery Parham? I have been searching for years for a father of Charlotte. She had a son Avery Hester, grandson Avery Rice Hester, grandson Avery Parham Knight, gggrandson Avery Jefferson Knight, grandson Garland Hester Knight, and grandson Isham Harris Knight. Based on the use of family names in Isham Harris might have been a the name of a Knight in-law or grandparent.

I would like to believe her father was Avery Parham, but the only documents showing a connection between Avery Parham and Francis Hester (father of husband Garland), is serving on jury together.

Tax and census records show William Parham living in the same district as Francis Hester, not Avery.

And assistance in showing the connection other than names would be appreciated.

Daniel, we do have a few Parham relatives here in OK. My husband had an Uncle at Sapulpa and he had some children, but I do not have anyone by the name if Faye Parham or Meredith in our family tree. I hope you can find the person you are looking for. Our Parhams originated in North Carolina and Georgia, where did your family originate?

Mitchell and Littleton Parham

I am still trying to find out whether my great great.....grandfather is MITCHELL or LITTLETON PARHAM. I have found both listed as the sons of William and Peggy. It depends on what research I view as to who is the father of ANDREW J. PARHAM. My records show that MITCHELL and KIZIAH are his parents, others show that his parents are LITTLETON & ELIZABETH. I have had several replies to posts but no one has difinitive proof as to which man is Andrew's father. Andrew married LUCINDA BARKER. Can anyone solve this mystery once and for all? Please email me at debi1@zoomtown.com if you can help. \Thanks!

The only "proof" that I would have was given to me by a reelative who is now deceased and it shows that on January 2, 1838 in the Court of Pleas and Quarter Session ordered by Hodge Robern, a probate of William's will was filed.Heirs are listed as: Littleton Parham, William Parham, Mitchel Parham, Henry Carter and his wife Martha Carter, William Smity and his wife Elizabeth of Tennessee convey to William Haynes for $600.00. It was signed by:
Littleton Parham,
Mitchel Parham,
Henry and wife Martha Carter
William and his wife Elizabeth Smith.

He also shows that Mitchell Parhams wife was Kizia Morris of McDowell Co NC

I have so much paperwork, I will go thru it and see what else I can find but don't have time to do it right now. If you are like me I can sure get into this stuff. My husband's great-great grandfather was Littleton Parham.

My husbands great grandfather was Martin Parham and Martin did have a son named Andrew Parham. He was born about 1851 in Union County, GA and married a lady named Sarah(don't know last name) Andrew was a brother to my husbands grandfather Adolphus Martin Parham.

I don't know if this helps or not, but I hope so.

I am trying to find the parents of Andrew Mitchell Parham. I have heard two stories, none backed with fact. One says Mitchell Parham and Kiziah Morris is his parents, the other says that his parents are Littleton Parham and Elizabeth Betsy Martin. Andrew is the father of William, Mary, Margaret, LOUIS H., Margaret, Charity, Althia, Louisa, Sarah, and John. His father is William Parham. Some information given to me says that Mitchell and Littleton are brothers. Does anyone have proof as to who Andrew's father is?

Virginia Parhams

Hi, all. I am looking for some help connecting some Parhams in my family tree. Any help is much appreciated.

James Markham Parham (1826-1894) of Petersburg, VA was my gr-gr-gr grandfather. He married Anne Brooks. Their daughter was Ella Esther Parham who married George M. Bozel. I am looking for the father of James M Parham. This is a family that was long in Petersburg/Dinwiddie/Brunswick/Prince George.

Blandford cemetery records list James M Parham's father as Markham Parham. But I can find no evidence so far of any such person as Markham Parham.

Previous family research (some records lost, only a sketchy tree remaining) shows the father of James M Parham as a William W Parham. I have not been able to find evidence of that either.

I have only ever found one reference to James M Parham in posts to Parham-related forums. One person published some information indicating that his mother was Elizabeth Hardaway, father unknown-first-name Parham. I have found an Elizabeth Hardaway who had a father named James Markham Hardaway. This seems promising but so far I can't find a definitive link.

There is (as yet unsubstantiated) belief that this Parham line runs through a Nicholas Parham, who was a private in Bolling's Regiment during the Revolution. This may be the same Nicholas Parham that once owned land in Petersburg, some of which became part of Blandford Cemetery.

One possible Nicholas Parham would be the son of Lewis Parham (b. around 1700). Nicholas was the brother of Ephraim Parham. I have found much detail posted on the descendants of Ephraim but only one mention anywhere of Nicholas' lineage. One person posted some information showing a wife of Mary (last name unknown) and a daughter, Nancy, who married William Watkins, Jr.

The information I most need is:

- Any information on James M Parham establishing his father
- Information on the lineage of any Nicholas Parham that might have been a Revolutionary-era soldier in southern/south central Virginia

Thank you.
