I am in this linage. The William Parks was my grandfather (Henry Isaac Parks) brother. I grew up in Smithfield. I Have recently communicates the Donald.

I cannot find anything beyond Robert and Verlinda.Since their marriage info lists him as Robert Parks, Jr, must assume his father was also Robert Parks. I have found no evidence of birthplace for Robert Parks, Jr. Verlinda is mentioned in her father's will, written in 1855, where she has the last name of Parks. Any additional info with sources would be appreciated. My Parks linage is:
Karl-->Kenneth-->Henry-->John-->George-->Robert--?Robert.

Good Morning Cousin Brenda,

Believe it or not, Rix lived several places and had more than one wife in his lifetime. There weren't really 2 Rix B. Parks'. They are both one and the same person. William Henry Parks is my grandfather's father.

I am the 3rd of the Arthur Lee's from the Parks lineage following William Henry Parks. Rix's father is a John Parks, married to who I believe is Rebecca (Rebekah) Cairns of North Carolina. I've been working with the Midwest Genealogical Society out of Independence, MO.

Follow my family tree under: hopefellowshipofsomerset. As I stated in my other post to you, my personal/pastoral cell phone number is: 612-229-3468. I'm ending my account with ancestry.com tomorrow, so you can also contact me at hopefellowshipofsomerset@yahoo.com and leep45_1999@yahoo.com.

Rix B. Parks was born in Permaquins County, North Carolina, 1825. His mother's name is Rebecca (Rebekah Cairns) Parks, who was married, allegedly, to John Parks. Rix apparently had 3 brothers named Hiram, Alfred, and Tyrell, who moved to Ray County, Missouri as well.

As far as I know this is accurate information. He lived throughout Clay and Ray counties in Missouri during his life there. Rix B. Parks moved to Leavenworth hospital, Leavenworth, Kansas, in 1890 and died there on July 14, 1891. I hope this is helpful to you.

I believe Rebecca (Rebekah), his mother, died in Dekalb County, MO, sometime between 1860 and 1870. She may also be buried in the Johnson County cemetery, or the Dekalb County cemetery. I'm still digging, no pun intended. Well maybe a little.

Julie and I are going to Branson, MO for a Prophecy Summit in July. We're leaving a few days prior to it so we can speak with people at the Midwest Genealogical Society in Independence, MO and at both Dekalb and Johnson Counties cemeteries, on our way down. I hope to hear from the Doonan family soon. It's all I've got for now, but please call me.

More accurate information is on the way. I've sent in my DNA to the Park/es/s Society through: familytreedna.com.

I'm also researching the Doonans of Iowa to see if I can get their take on our genealogy. If Rhonda would share the genealogy pages in Arthur Lee Parks, I bible, the on he preached from when he was still a pastor, we can find the missing links. She refuses to answer any of my queries, or we'd have more info. By the way, along our genealogical lines, we may have spelled our surname, Parkes. Our dad told Terry (your cousin and my half-sister) that our last name was changed a few generations back. We're of Scottish/Irish descent.

Your Cousin in good standing, Arthur.

You were corresponding with my cousin John, who died in the early 2000's. I will look into your preference of area. Is Hiram Gatriel Parks Rix's brother? Let me know if you are willing to help me.
Hi,
My name is Brenda Reiter. My great great grandfather was also Rix B. Parks. I am hoping that we share the same Rix Parks because I heard there is more than one out there. My grandfather was Clinton Ogden Parks Sr. who was the son of William Henry Parks, and the grandson of Rix B. Parks born abt. 1825. I do have a copy of the letter from Emma J. Parks requesting pension benefits from the government. She lists having two sons named William and Russell Doonan. The letter is dated January 10, 1935 from Deep River, Iowa. I'm pretty sure we have a connection here. I'm going to review my material since I haven't been searching for awhile. Please keep in touch and maybe we can share info.

Hi Don,
I really don't know if they spent time in Canada. Non of their children in the 1850 census appear to have been born in Canada.
Sam was born about 1813 in Ireland and Mary about the same.
I have a passenger arrival list for NYC that has a Samuel and Mary of about the right age arriving in 1836. They had five kids living with them in the 1850 census. No sign of them in 1860, and it looks like both parents had died by 1860, and the kids farmed out to families in Columbia County. So, I assume they have a connection with that area somehow.
Sam's name was Park and Parks, but I haven't seen Parkes.
It is possible that the Sam and Mary I have on the passenger list is not the ones that appear on the 1850 NYC census, but it seems most likely that it is them.
Still searching for proof of all of this, however.
Ginny

Missing children of Zephaniah Parks and Leah Green

It appears that not all children of Zephaniah Parks, b. 1792 in New York, d. 1874 in Iowa and his wife, Leah Green, b. 1797 in Kentucky, d. 1867 in Iowa, have been found.

One researcher has a Darthula Parks, b. 1830 in Illinois as a daughter of Zephaniah and Leah. They lived in Illinois in this time frame, but no mention has been made by anyone else of her.

The 1870 Census has a Zephaniah Parks living with his son, G. W. Parks, and has a Mary Johnson, b. abt. 1855 in Ohio as Zephaniah's daughter. The census indicates she is married, which would explain her last name of Johnson.

Looking at the known children, there is a 5 year gap between Lewis Parks & Corintha Parks, and Darthula fits nicely into this gap.

There is a 10 year gap between Corintha Parks and my George Washington Parks, and given the times back then, one would expect maybe three kids to have been born in that time frame.

And then we have a 17 year gap between George Washington Parks and the mysterious Mary Johnson, although I suspect there may have been an error on the part of the census recorder for this.

Any Parks researchers have any children that would fit into this gaps? Locations would be Indiana, Illinois, Iowa and apparently Ohio.

Starting in NYC with Samuel Parks and his wife, Mary, and five kids. They apparantly are both dead by 1853, and kids mostly end up in Columbia County. I'm still trying to identify all the family members. Only been working on it for about 20 years.
Cheers,
Ginny

I believe someone else already responded with the answer to your problem. The address should be kenparkS. I left off the
's' in his email address in my original post. Sorry for the error. Hope this helps.

Hello there,

I tried to send some info to Ken at kenpark@earthlink.net and it came back undeliverable. Can you e-mail me at cpsandiego@cox.net to let me know if he has a new e-mail address related to the Park/e DNA surname project?

Thx!
Chris P

Hello JMatthews2610,
I am thinking that you are my husbands cousin? I have contacted the Moores Historian and she has not been able to find any records, she did find Betsy and John Parks graves from an old cemetery map -they are buried in the same cemetery as his father next to a daughter that died when she was young-can't remember what one. When I do find something I will let you know.

Take care Pat Sparks Brown, Richmond, Ky

I'm afraid I have no information to add, but I have also been searching for evidence that Betsey is the daughter of George. I am descended from John and Betsey (Straight) Parks through their daughter Almira, who married Lorenzo Watts. If you find anything I would appreciate your posting it. I am somewhat limited in my researching as I live in England.

Looking for more information on Laura Parks & her husband L. Reid. Laura is the daughter of Asberry(aka Rodney) Parks & Elmirah Jones.

This family was probably from the Pike & Spalding(County), Ga areas. Any information helpful, thanks.
