I am hoping to start tracing my family tree. I do know that at some stage in the 1800's some of my family emigrated to the Americas. I am from East Sussex, and know that some of my family were around Hailsham and Eastbourne, and some were still in Scotland at this time, but there is a side that is hard to trace, can anyone help, or doe's this sound familiar with anyone elses findings.

Mary Parks m. John Warren

Mary (Cansadie, Conzada, Kensady) Parks married John Calvin Warren prior to 1885. Their first child William was born in 1885 in Parker Co. Texas. Their other four children were born in Indian Territory, Oklahoma prior to 1900. In the 1900 census Mary is listed as a widow. She is listed with Georgia as her birthplace. She has a sister Martha and a brother John. Possible parents are John and Mahala??? The three spellings on the middle name are documentation that we have with those spellings. Any information is very much appreciated. These are my ggg grandparents.

George Parks, Roane co TN (b 1774, VA) and Samuel Moore

I am seeking information about the George Parks (wife Elizabeth) who was born in VA c 1774 (1850 census Roane co TN). The family was in Roane co TN by 1830. George and Elizabeth had a daughter Ann E. Parks (b c 1808 in GA)who married Samuel Moore 25 June 1826 in Roane co TN. Samuel Moore filed for divorce from Ann 17 Sept 1827. The divorce was granted in 1835. The marriage/divorce records are all I have found about Samuel Moore except that he appears in the Roane co TN census in 1840. He is between 60 and 70 years old. With him are 3 females: 1 1-15; 1 30-40; and 1 60-70. I have some information on the descendants of George Parks. I THINK that Samuel Moore and Ann Parks had two children: Serephina and Andrew Jackson Moore. Although Samuel swore in the divorce papers that he had not fathered any children by Ann, both of these children carried his surname. I MAY be descended from A. J. Moore (b TN in 1829). My cousin has just taken a DNA test. If "our" Andrew Jackson Moore is the Jackson Moore presumed son of Samuel of Roane co, then Jackson is indeed a Moore. The DNA checks out.

"Our" Andrew Jackson Moore married Amanda Arantha Eubanks (daughter of James Eubanks and Frances Massey)who were in Murray co GA. Jackson Moore was a schoolteacher who taught the younger Eubanks children. The whole Eubanks family (including Jackson and Amanda Moore) moved in 1859 to Greene co AR. A. J. Moore and Amanda and children are in Green co AR in the 1860 census. A. J. Moore was conscripted into the CSA - and died of disease about 3 months later (this was just before 1863).

Can anyone help us with this line? The only A.J. Moore I can find who was born in 1829 in TN - and who is not accounted for in later census work - is this Jackson Moore who was living with George and Elizabeth Parks (maternal grandparents?) in Roane co TN in 1850.

I have worked in Roane co - and have gathered information on the Moore families there. I just can't put "our" group together! Jane
My grandparents collected old sewing machines so since i have not been able to connect her to my family, i am thinking this may have been in one of them. I also found a "reward of merit" presented to George Parks by Teacher _ _ila Rankin (no date).
Two George Washington Parks and two Samuel Parks

Hi all.

I am trying to track down and verify some family stories about Cherokee blood in the family and about Native Americans coming up to my great-grandfather or great-great grandfather and claiming he was family.

This side of the line descends from a George Washington Parks, b. 1838 in Indiana. His father was a Zephaniah Parks, b. 1792, supposedly in New York. He had an older brother by the name of Samuel Parks. Zephaniah's nickname was Seth. I have no further information on my Samuel Parks.

There is a George Washington Parks who was born in 1820 in Tennessee who was supposedly at one time the head of the Cherokee nation and at least half-native American by his mother. His father was Samuel Parks, b. 1789 in Tennessee, and who married a full-blooded Native American woman by the name of Susannah Fox Taylor, according to genealogies here on Rootsweb.

The question I have, does anyone have anything about siblings of the Samuel Parks b. 1789 in Tennessee? If this Samuel Parks is the brother of my Zephaniah Parks, it would explain the stories about Native Americans claiming my Nebraska ancestors were family.

please reply to pearsonscott2@qwest.net or spearson1492@yahoo.com. The friedjackmorgan is an old email address and name that started out as a kind of joke.

Much thanks and Happy New Year,

Scott

I am posting this information for a friend. Previously I have posted regarding my Parks family (Ireland> Ontario> Pierce Co Wisconsin> Barron Co Wisconsin). Today I am posting about another Parks family (Kent, Lincolnshire Co. England> Sussex Co, England> Buffalo NY> Sauk Co. Wisconsin >Barron Co. Wisconsin).

According to a family tree finished in 1985 he descends from Caroline Button who was born in Sussex Co. England on December 24, 1822. Caroline was the daughter of Thomas Squire Button and Jane Collins. On March 8, 1845 Caroline Button married Frederick Parks who was born in Kent, Lincolnshire England on October 24, 1824. They had two children, George Thomas and Charles H. in England and then immigrated to the US in December 1848 on the ship North Tumberland arriving in the US in 1849.

They first lived in Buffalo NY where their daughter Harriet Jane was born. They then moved to Milwaukee Wisconsin living there for 5 years. I believe I found Frederick listed in the 1857-1858 Milwaukee County Directory as: PARKS: Frederick foreman Burnham's Brick Yard, h Waukesha Plank Road, near Jones.

The family then moved to Merrimac, Sauk Co, Wisconsin by the 1860 census. The children born to the family were George Thomas b 8 Sep 1845 in Sussex Co. Eng., Charles H. b abt. 1848 in Sussex Co. Eng., Harriet Jane b. 9 Dec 1850 in Buffalo N.Y., Frederick B. b. 1855 in Milwaukee Wisc, Caroline b abt. 1858 in Sauk Co, Wisc., Charlotte b abt. 1862 in Sauk Co, Wisc, William E. b abt. 1866 in Sauk Co, Wisc., Albert J. b. abt. 1869 in Sauk Co, Wisc. Both Frederick B. and Albert J. died young so never married.

By at least 1910 if not earlier Fred G Parks b 1872 son of Geo T. b.1845 Eng had settled in Dallas Township, Barron Co. Wisconsin.

I would appreciate being contacted with information about this family.

Mary

Info on Franklin Parks, b-1842 in Pope Co Ill

Searching for any info on GG. My ancestral research (that can be documented)stops with him. As far as I can determine, he had two sons, William Martin b. 1865 in Ill. dec. 1913 in Mo. and James Franklin b. 1872 in Mo., dec. 1927 in Mo. Franklins wifes name, according to 1880 census was Jane; however, she was 16 years younger than my GG and only 8 years older that William, thus must have been his second wife and mother of neither of the sons. Same records indicate Franklin's parent were from Tennessee. All help would be appreciated.

He married 9 Aug 1898 in Boone Co, IN to Martha "Mattie" Isabella Wills. Known children are Cleo N b abt 1909 and Ethel Edith born abt 1910. Ethel Edith married Frank Rodkey abt 1929. Perry and Martha are found in the 1900 census Boone Co, IN living with her parents. 1910 and 1920 they are living in Boone Co, IN and in 1930 Perry has not been located but Martha is shown as head of household with Frank and Edith Rodkey living with her. The census records are difficult to read and I am having problems telling if her marital status is "D" or "W". Any help is appreciated. I would like to know when Perry died and where he is buried. Any additional information on the family would be helpful too.
