Yes, the American Revolutionary War was over. Ft. St. John's, Quebec, was where many Loyalists went to stay after the war was over, waiting to be sent on to ON, where they would draw lots for land. There was a battle in Quebec in 1775, when the Americans tried to invade, but were driven off. As for the conflicting dates, I may have copied them down in the wrong order. :(

Everhardt, after serving with Burgoyne's army, went to Ft. St. John's, Québec, where he was joined by his son Thomas on 14 June 1784, in Peter's Corps, King's Royal Regiment. He was an invalid in Yamachiche, Québec (1781-1784). On 31 May 1784, he and his son Thomas left to settle in Fredericksburgh Township, Lennox and Addington County, Ontario. Am not sure when another son William joined them in Fredericksburgh, but believe it was in 1784

I'm confused:I assume they were fighting in the American Revolutionary War. Was this war fought in Quebec? (Sorry, my being Canadian doesn't excuse ignorance!) Was the war over when they left in May to settle in Fredericksburg? If so, why would Thomas join him in Peter's Corps, King's Royal Regiment on 14 June 1784?

I am descended from Thomas Wager UE & (2) Polly Parliament. As for Thomas' father Everhardt:
On 20 June 1765, Everhardt leased land from Stephen VanRensselaer near Troy, New York. Stephen VanRensselaer later served in the American Revolutionary Army. Am not sure when another son William joined them in Fredericksburgh, but believe it was in 1784.
Thomas & Polly had 13 children, one of whom is not mentioned in Wager histories, but I have proved through baptism that Lany Wager who married Charles B. Hart, my gt.-gt-grandparents, was indeed their youngest daughter Magdalena (again), born 03 November 1811. Her daughter Lydia Margaret Hart was named after Lany's 2 elder sisters.
Lucy

Bill, Lany's nickname was short for Magdalena (again)--I presume she might have also been called Lena, but Lany is how she is named in family records. In the old Wagar bible, there is a very faint "L", right where she would be listed, between brothers John Wager & James Carscallen Wager, the two youngest sons. She was born 03 November 1811 in Fredericksburgh, which became North Fredericksburgh, but now is part of Napanee. Her parents' old farm was just in the next Concession from where I now live. As I am unsure of her husband's family, I only know that Charles Barnhart Hart was born in Fredericksburgh.

Thomas Wager UE other siblings were:
Catharina Waeger, born 27 November 1764, Dutchess County, NY; married Henrich Springer
Anna Waeger, born 30 January 1767, NY; married James Lindsay
Lena Waeger, born Abt. 1769, NY, died 05 January 1856, Washtenaw Co., Augusta Twp., Michigan, US; married Peter P. Haner
William Everhart Wager, Sr., UE, born 02 December 1771, Rensselaerwyck, NY, US, died 27 February 1867, South Fredericksburg Twp.,C2, L6, L&A Co., ON; married Elizabeth McCabe
Eberhard Waeger, born ca1774, NY

I haven't as yet looked at the earlier postings, but I do know there is always room for disagreements. Errors, like gremlins, do pop up no matter how hard one tries not to have them occur. ;)
Lucy

Bill, have done that myself, only part of a message making its way into my brain. :)
The 3 daughters you mention were by Deborah Embury, Thomas' 1st wife. There is an newspaper account of 2 daughters of Thomas Wager's drowning, no names, but I have wondered if Lany was named after one of them.
By (2) Polly were:
Thomas Jr., George F. Wager, Deborah Wager, William Wager, Susannah Wager, Lydia Wager, Margaret Wager, Christine Wager, Lorraine Wager, David Wager, John Wager, Magdalena (Lany) Wager & James Carscallen Wager. My father used to say Lany was one of 13 children which always made him shake his head as he was only one of 2, my mother an only child & I, one of 3.
Lucy

Sussex County Marriage records are in place for David and Elizabeth's marriage and baptismal records for their childrens births as well as marriage records of their children.......

As for David and Elizabeths birth records - Orange Cnty (now Rockland Cnty NY) has records of their births and David's parentage being James Parleman and Anna with records in the DRC in Poughkeepsie showing James Parleman donating lathes of wood.

Beyond that - nothing. David nor his son Joseph or John were landowners and did not leave wills. David died in a mining accident at the age of 54 (a carter) and his son Joseph once a miner relocated to Yonkers in 1883 with his entire family where they remained until their deaths. Joseph and his wife Nancy Hammel were returned to Sparta NJ for burial but their descendents remained up to and including myself.

Having checked my records I would hope to clarify the children of David Parliament and Elizabeth Fenner wh were married in 1823 in Sussex Cnty NJ - both being born in NYS

Margaret (b 1826) m Henry Morgan 1842
Emeline (b 1828) m David McCloud 1842
John (b 1835 d 1908) m Mary Ann Murphy 1858
Joseph ( b 1837 d 1918) m Nancy Hammel 1864
Albert (b 1839 - d1896) m Ester Shoars
Henry (b 1841) m Margaret Goble
Mary ( 1843 - 1927) m Moses Green

This information has been gathered from birth, death, marriage and census records. I have never seen a Catherine (b 1822 - 1907) attributed to David and Elizabeth. Perhaps she was born before they wed?

Joseph and Nancy Hammel (Parliament) are my great grandparents. Nancy Hammel's mother was Phebe (Goble) Hammel and her grandmother Nancy Cary married a Captain Isaac Goble. Perhaps Henry married a descendent in his mothers line?
QUESTION: Have you ever heard of a Georgiana Parliament attributed to either John or Joseph Parliament being born 1859/60> A distant relative believes Joseph and Nancy Hammel had this child 4/5 years prior to their marriage! nancy was living with her father in the 1860 Census and it appears unlikely. I was thinking perhaps she is John and Mary Ann Murphy's daughter but she appears nowhere except in the 1870 census with Joseph and Mary Ann parliament (Nancy should be listed but isn't)but appears in the 1880 Census!
Another mystery.

Happy to share

Emma (1845

You're quite welcome for the help with the Green family connection, Johnna!

All of the research I have done, including (as documentation) the 1850 Census enumeration for Hardyston Twp., New Jersey [pg. 153], indicates that the name of Emeline Parliament's husband was DAVID McCloud.

How many other McCloud descendants thought that Emeline's husband was named Jacob? Is it just one, or were there several? If you could put me in contact with other McCloud researchers so that they and I could compare findings, I would certainly appreciate it.

Kelly Little posted misinformation 14 Feb 2004. There is a connection between the PARLIAMENT/GOBLE surnames but not the one she mentioned.Your great grandparents were MARGARET HULMES and HENRY PARLEMAN (spelling of the Parliament surname varies). Their marriage is recorded in Sussex County Marriage Books as taking place 2 Dec 1864. Henry was born abt 1841 to ELIZABETH FENNER and DAVID PARLEMAN. David b 1803 Orange Cnty NY and Elizabeth b 1806 Orange County NY - married 14 Feb 1823 Sussex Co NJ. Their children and spouses were:

John Parleman (b 1836 - d 1908) m Mary Murphy 13 Dec 1858 Sussex Cnty NY Civile War Veteran

Joseph Parleman (b 1837 - d 1918) m Nancy Hammel 25 Dec 1864 Sussex County NY. Both are buried at Sparta Cemetery and our my great grandparents.

Albert Parleman (b 1838 - 1892) m Ester Shoars 24 Dec 1853 Sussex NJ

HENRY PARLEMAN (b 1841 - ?) m MARGARET HULMES 2 Dec 1864 Sussex Co NJ

Mary Parleman (b 1846 - 1927 )m Moses Green (1844 - 1913)

Emmaline Parleman (b 1845 - ) m David McCloud

Our great great grandparents David and Elizabeth (Fenner) Parlemen were their parents. David died in a mining accident in 1854

As for the Parleman (Parliament) Goble connection:
Isaac Cary m Martha Oakley
son Isaac Cary m Eunice Beardslee
daughter Nancy Carey m Isaac Goble
daughter Phebe Goble m John Hammel
daughter Nancy Hammel m Joseph Parliament

Love to correspond

Hi Kelly,
Do you have any information regarding David Parliament's siblings or parents? My great-great-great-grandmother, Anna Parliman or Parliment, was born ca. 1806 in either New York or New Jersey. She was married in Snufftown (modern-day Stockholm), Hardyston Twp., Sussex County, New Jersey on 13 January 1826, to Jacob McCloud. The marriage was performed by a justice of the peace, Samuel Keeler.

She is of the right age to be David's sister, but I don't know who her parents or siblings were. However, because I find your ancestor David 'Parliment' listed in the census in that same New Jersey county and township in 1830, 1840, and 1850, and because Anna's marriage was within three years of David's marriage to Elizabeth Fenner (on 14 February 1823, also in Sussex County) -- the likelihood of some familial relationship seems very high.

Thanks in advance for your response!

Debbie
