It is true that William and Elizabeth were married in Jefferson Co OH 16 Oct 1819, and Mason was born 30 May 1819, if we can believe the evidence so far. It was not unusual on the frontier for a couple to decide to get married and set up housekeeping a few months before the ceremony could be formalized by a circuit riding judge or minister. I don't see a real problem here.
But I think you will find his siblings were a little closer in age than you have indicated:
William, Jr born 16 Apr 1820
Mary born Feb 1823
Nancy born abt 18 Feb 1825
Elizabeth boen abt 1826
James L. born abt 1833 and
Isaac born abt 1836.
(I have a lot more on these families.)

If you have a male PALMER relative to test, you should consider joining the PALMER Y-DNA Project (http://www.familytreedna.com/public/palmer/) I don't think anyone tested claims France as homeland, although there are lots of unknown's.
Hello,

I don't have a Ephraim Parmer as shown on your tree. My Palmer family came from France. I did run across a Parmer family which I believe to be part of my Palmer line. But have no verification they actually are. My line begins with Peter Palmer born in France abt. 1812, perhaps in Melsheim, Bas-Rhin, France. No verification on that either. He married a Sarah Unknown in South Carolina. He fathered 12 children, Wiley Jefferson, Isbella, Rachael, John, Luanna,
Lewis Madson, Georganna, Henry A.,George, and Jerome. Peter,Issac.
This family moved into Georgia, Alamaba then into Smith Co., Mississippi.

My second great grandfather was Wiley Jefferson Palmer. Who married Mary Luvenia McDougle.

Was your Parmer line from France? I know my Palmer/Parmer line all came from France.

Wish I could be of more help. Please keep in touch and I'll help in anyway I can.

Thanks for the information. As I said, I have only started my research so I have not looked into all of the children of Ephraim Parmer yet, all I have is what I have found on the internet.

I am descended from Ephraims' son Hilery Green Parmer and from his daughter Laura Josephene Parmer who married Uriah Edward Grant. I have a picture of Laura that was taken on her 90th birthday I think. I am looking for photos of his family, including Ephraim and Hillery Green Parmer and their wives and children if anyone has any.

"James Seale PARMER" was named "James Robert PARMER" [no SEALE]. His mother's maiden name was SEALE. Because I believe it is important to record both parents, I add mom's maiden name and denote it with *an attached hyphen followed by a space, then SURNAME* - "James Robert Seale- PARMER".
In my database you can eliminate any name with an attached hyphen + space and have the official name desired by purist,
...Ephraim PARMER was my 4th great grandfather.
Jackie ASHLEY PACE

Hello,

I have only just started my Parmer family research but you are quit possibly some relation to my Parmer family. I come from Ephraim Parmer born March 10, 1878 in Maryland, died on June 1, 1853 in Lowndes County Alabama. Ephraim had 14 children by two wives. He had a son by his second wife names James Seale Parmer. He would have been too old to be your James but would be the perfect age to be his father. 10 of Ephraims 14 Children were sons so there is a lot of possibilities there. I just started my research so I am not familiar with all of Ephraims children yet. I am descended from his son Hilery Green Parmer. The only thing I can verify is that your James is not a son of Hilery Green Parmer. But if I were you, I would start by looking at Ephraim as he should have had lots of Grand children.

Hello, I am a descendant of Martin Parmer "The Ring Tailed Panther". I was recently reading excerpts about him from "Indian Agent" by Jack Jackson. This book states that Martin was bushwhacked in Jasper Co, TX in 1850. The information appears to come from William P. Zuber. Since 1850 is the year of Martin's death does anyone know if it contributed or was the cause of his death.
I descend from his wife Margaret Griffith Neal. I have been doing research on her children from her Neal marriage. I have identified Margaret and her Neal children along with Martin and his younger Parmer/Palmer children are on the Hinds Co, MS 1830 census. Margaret's son states that his mother died in Vicksburg, MS in 1833. Has anyone done research on Martin's life while living in Mississippi?
Thanks,
Jan Stovall
stovall33@verizon.net

Anna May Belknap & James Harvey Palmer/Parmer - OH, MO, KS

Looking for any information on my great grandparents James Harvey Palmer and Anna May Belknap. I was told they were both born in Ohio, James about 1856 and Anna May about 1865. They may have been married in Kansas City, Missouri, around 1886. They settled in Jefferson City, Missouri, where they changed their name from Parmer to Palmer.
One of their children, Claude Franklin Palmer (1887-1966) was probably born in Jefferson City. Claude Palmer and Susan Mahala Barton (1888-1987) were married in Salina, Kansas, on 3 May 1910.
The family moved to Wichita, Kansas, where James died about 1938 and Anna May in 1947. Anna May could be Anna Mae and Belknap could be Belnap. James was an Evangelical Brethren preacher.
My father, Claude's son, says they did exist because he knew them, but I cannot find them or their ancestors on the web. Thanks for any reply. --L.H. Palmer

It looks like that Lillian may have been born around 1838. On the 1850 U.S. Census, there is a Lucy Parmer living in Warren County, Pennsylvania. Most likely, it's going to be the correct person as her daughter was named Lucy. Of course, nothing is certain right now. I'm pretty sure that the Robert Parmer living there would have been her older brother and Eliza her sister-in-law.

Other than that, I don't have much of anything else.

Brewer married Martha Adeline Parmer 1851, Tuscaloosa County, AL (Henry Brewer, probable father of Samuel is on the 1850 Tuscaloosa County, AL census).

1860 Bossier Parish LA lists:
SW Brewer, 28, AL
Martha, 24, AL
EM, 5, ARK
JF, 3, LA

also present on this census is Isaac Parmer, believed uncle of Martha (brother of Samuel), and his family (see Isaac Parmer previously on Leake County, MS records).

Across the state line in Lafayette, ARK is:
Jas G Urrey, 59
Elizabeth, 37, AL
Jackson Parmer, 14, AL
Tabitha J Dunn, 18, AL
Mary E Dunn, 2/12, ARK

Marriage records in Lafayette County:
17 Dec 1856 James G Erre and Elizabeth Ann Parmer (she lists herself as a resident of LA at the time of marriage)
19 Apr 1857 W Erry and Louisa Jane Parmer

Apparently Samuel died before 1856 and Elizabeth remarried.

Robin Garland

Re: William Cicero Parmer parents

Hello,
Wondering if you are still reading. I believe I have information on the William Parmer who is listed on the 1820 Shelby County, AL census. I am very inclined to believe this William Parmer was out of South Carolina (refer to Don Raney's research on William George Parmer of Laurens County, SC).
What I can confirm is my ancestor, Henry Brewer, married Mary Parmer in 1821 in Shelby County, AL. Henry's family does not appear on the 1820 Shelby census, however, the Brewers do appear by 1830. I'm fairly confident that the William Parmer on census is the same seen in a Shelby County court case along with Isaac Parmer (his son) and Henry Brewer (his son-in-law) in 1823.
By 1830 both William Parmer and Henry Brewer are listed on the 1830 Bibb County, AL census. Henry's wife consistently listed SC as her birth place. Isaac Parmer, born about 1805, consistently lists his birthplace as SC (he is found 1840/1850 Leake County, MS where his widowed mother also appears). In 1860 Isaac is found in Bossier Parish LA along with his nephew, SW Brewer (Samuel W Brewer who married Martha Adeline Parmer, 1851, AL).
Right across the state line in Lafayette, ARK is found the children and widow of Samuel Parmer (also believed a son of William Parmer). Samuel and Elizabeth Parmer were the parents of Martha Parmer. Elizabeth, widowed, married James Urrey, in 1856 listing her home as Bossier Parish. Samuel and Elizabeth Parmer are found on the 1850 census. He reports his about 1817 in SC.
I'm not sure if William Cicero Parmer is somehow related...
but I wanted to share that the William in Shelby in 1820 does seem interconnected in the way described.
Robin
I was told that my Great Grandpa's mom was Cina Palmer...his name was Austin and they even have it on a website for the Martin Parmer Family Tree...

I got a copy of his death certificate and it list his dad as Urie Bass not William Nathaniel Bass like on the website and I cant read the Mom's name on the death certificate.

I know its the right Austin on the site because it lists my grandpa and his brothers and sisters.

If you know of any record that I can see with all their names on it...PLEASE let me know!

My family is convinced, but I'm not..not until I actually see something that connects them together.

Here is the link to the Website...

http://tribalpages.com/tribe/browse?userid=martinparmer&...

or just google...Martin Parmer Family Tree and it should
come up!

Lillian Parmer -- Erie/Crawford Counties, PA

I'm trying to find any information on a Lillian Parmer as stated on a death certificate, who was most likely born in either New York or Pennsylvania around 1825. She married a William H. Smith of New York State (1824-ca. 1914) around 1850 and had at least one child, Lucy. Lucy L. Smith was my 2nd great grandmother who was born in Pennsylvania on May 17, 1854...most likely in either Erie or Crawford County. I'm not sure if the two had any more children. I was unable to find anything on a Lillian Parmer or Smith through U.S. Census records. According to later census records, William Smith was living in Newaygo County, Michigan with Lucy's family in 1900 and then with a John Smith (born 1861) in 1910 who I believe was Lucy's half brother. John's mother was named Nancy (born 1846) if I have the correct family. He had at least two siblings, Freddie and William.

It looks like that Lillian may have passed away sometime before 1860. William later married Nancy had moved to Illinois where John was born in 1861. That is, of course, if I have all the information correct.

Right now, I'd like to find out when and where Lillian was born as well as when and where shed died. Unfortunately, I don't know who her parents were nor any siblings. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. :0)

Hello Cousin. Did you ever solve the mystery? This is my Parmer Line. My Grandfather, JA Parmer, said that William was Martin's son, but when I try to verify it I run into a brick wall too. I don't know William's wife's name, our grandmother.

I am interested to know about your Bible. I descend (I am told) from the Godwin/Parmers of West Virginia and areas of the far western edge of Virginia. Descendants are still present there in areas around Lewis County. William Alford Parmer would be my great-grandfather, but his name was always spelled Alford and Parmer (never Palmer). Is the writing clear ?

I just happen to come across your post when browsing about Martin Parmer. Since so much time has passed since this post you may already know this but...
Cassie Anne Parmer Dendy is the 10th child of William Parmer and Francis Wood (see 1850 census Navarre County, Texas).
I have come across some stories that say this William is the son of Martin Parmer, however, there is some conflicting information regarding that:

My William was married supposedly to Ararentha Gray and then Francis Wood.
Martin's son William was apparently married to two different women.

I have been trying to get some good evidence on who my William Parmer parents were but have pretty much run into a brick wall.

Henry Allen Roark was the third child after James William (Jim) Roark (1844) and Napoleon Bonaparte Roark (1846) named for Russel's little brother who died near Nacogdoches in 1836. Russel's son m. Ellen Rogers. Russel's son was called,"Pole." All of Russel and Sarah Ann's children were born in Walker Co., Texas. Dodge, not Dodge City, was founded in 1876. A railroad was built which lended to Dodge's growth. William H. Palmer, Sarah Ann's dad, donated the land for the railroad's pass through Walker Co.
Some people have gotten the two Napoleon Bonapartes confused. The older son of John Roark was his youngest or the next to the youngest son. Haven't established his age, but he was born near the time of John "A.J." Roark b. in Aug of 1821 and died in Travis Co. 1855. A.J. had a store in Dresden (general) and one in Young Co. DTR says that he moved to Travis Co. where he died.

Martin Parmer, Jr. is one of my ggg grandfathers. His grand
daughter, Sarah Ann Palmer, m. Russel Roark.
I have loads on the Palmer/Parmer Family. Martin changed the spelling of his last name in KY or MO. He was a bit of a rounder/warrior and likely had legal reason to do so. I'm not sure any of his children by Sarah Hardwick ever changed the spelling. His son, William Hardwick Palmer, was an early pioneer of Walker Co., TX starting to farm there in the 1820s. The Roark's came to Walker & San Jacinto Counties in 1836. Russel Roark m. Sarah Ann Palmer in 1840.
When did you graduate from Monahans? I came out here to coach in 1973. Left and came back in 1979. Left again and moved back 8 years ago. My three sons graduated here.
Not sure that I'm going to the Palmer/Parmer Reunion at the end of this month in Hutto near Austin. Good to hear from you.
Got to go.

Doug Roark

Mason (Mace) Parmer b. 1819 Ohio

I'm looking for the ancestors of Mason Parmer. He died in Wisconsin in 1902 and was married to Elizabeth Day and Eliza Mikesell. Eliza first if I recall correctly.
I have been told that Mace's father was William Parmer of VA and his mother was Elizabeth Watson of Louden, VA. However I notice that his birthdate is somewhat before the date of their marriage. Not that I don't believe that pre-marriage babies happened back then, simply that I think it was the exception not the norm. And it gives me cause to question the information I have. I was also told his siblings were Isaac, William, James L. and Nancy and Elizabeth Parmer. If that's true then Mace was born 15 years before his next sibling. Something is amiss here. I sure would appreciate some guidence. Thanks, Heather

Thank you for your response. That message was posted in 2001 and since then I have learned a lot and have a website with all the info you gave me. I believe I have Senie's picture on that site. Google "William Berry Huddleston" you will find my website under geocities. When you go in look for "surname" put in Huddleston and a long list will show. Go Thomas Marion . there will be a small camera there - click on it for the last picture of my gggrandfather Thomas Marion. and there is a number by spouses. click on that and I believe Senie's picture will show up! I am from Mary Jane and I know of no known pictures of her my email is posted on the website!
thanks
Pamela Huddleston

I saw your post about Mary Jane Parmer and Thomas Marion
Huddleston. My great grandmother Senie Vergilin Parmer was her sister and married Thomas Marion Huddleston after Mary Jane died. My g grandmother Senie was divorced and had 3 small daughters when she married TM Huddleston.
TM Huddleston was much older than Grandma Senie.
According to my information Grandma Senie and TM Huddleston had 3 boys together. Adolphus M Huddleston (1/8/1897( Charles W Huddleston (6/8/1899) and Julius Huddleston (6/22/1905) I don't have any information of Mary Jane. Do you have any pictures of the Parmer family (espically Senie Parmer Daniel Huddelston) ? I do not know what my GGrandmother looked like when she was young.
Thank You

Sarah & Russel had 10 children, according to my notes, and the 3rd child was Henry Alan ROARK, b 1848 TX. He married Ida Ann Elise ASHLEY, b 28/Jun/1859 AL, d. 18/Oct/1887 Walker Co, TX. She was the dau of my 2nd great-grand uncle, Edmond Powell ASHLEY & his 1st wife Ann Maria WOOTEN whom he m. 1844 Bladen Co, NC.
As for Martin PARMER: does he have male descendents? Hopefully a couple of them will join the DNA project soon. Some folks have speculated he came from my PALMER/PARMER ancestors in Maryland or NC, but only the genes know for sure..

You have the Martin Parmer, Jr. who lived in Clariton Co. MO and was in their initial legistlative body. Palmer Creek was named for him. He moved to Texas abt. 1828 where he accumulated a lot of land in East Texas. Signed the Texas Declar. of Indep.
Children by his first wife Sarah Hardwick, elected to change the spelling of their name to Palmer. Don't know the real reason. After his wife died, the mother of 8 of his children, he hard a hard time adjusting. He married 4 more times and had some Parmer children. His grand-daughter,Sarah Ann Palmer, married Russel Roark in abt. 1840. They were my great-great grandparents.
Doug Roark (I have the Parmers 3 generations ahead of Martin.)

I am wondering if you have found any siblings for your John Hanna Parmer. My ancestor was Patrick Parmer/Palmer b1834 in Ireland, emigrated to US in 1850. Married Catherine Pendergast b1834 in Ireland. Their oldest son John H. Palmer b1860 in Canton, Wayne County, MI. This family subsequently relocated to Sebewa Township, Ionia County, MI in 1870. Curious to know if there is any connection.
