I had no idea about one born in England other than that is what the census indicated. A court record for John Parson's father Jacob Parsons aka Pershing indicates Jacob died 10 July 1846 in Perry Township, Jefferson, Pennsylvania. Also, in John Parson's civil war draft registration, it indicates his German descent, contrary to us thinking he was from England.

In reading through message boards regarding the "Parson" family, I ran across your post of Jan 1, 2010. My great grandfather was Hugh Parson who was the brother of your great grandfather, Frank Parson. I would love to see the pictures that you think are of the Parson family in Iowa. I have a few photos myself and would be willing to share any information or photos with you. You can contact me at ionialady@yahoo.com.
I'm looking for anyone who is researching the Parson family from Limestone, Pa. They also could of come from the Clarion, Pa. area, I know some lived in the Knox, Pa. area. I have many old family photos of this family and would love to give them to a family member. They belonged to my uncle John Darrell Parsons, and were given to me after his death. He was the son of Atwood Arthur Parsons and Ida Elizabeth Myers. I am the grand daughter of Ida and her second husband, so I have no connection to these photos, and want to give them to someone who does. There are photos of a Thomas Parsons B:1802 D: 1899 Please contact me if you have a connection to these pictures.

Looking for biological parents of Charles William Parson (1866-1949)

One of my husband's ancesters was Charles William Parson. He was born October 15th 1866 in Morgan County, KY. Sometime before 1880, his parents were killed in a stampede when the family was travelling by wagon. He had some older siblings who were taken in by biological aunts and uncles. Charles was adopted by William Pleasant and Sarah Virginia (Gilliam) Adkins.

If possible, I'd like to find out who his biological parents are. Unfortunately I'm getting nowhere with Kentucky birth records.

Ora Clark Parson(s)

I am trying to locate descendants of the Parson(s) family that were in the Louisville, KY area in the 1930's.

The obituary of Mrs. Ellen Clark (nee Hall) lists that she died at the residence of her granddaughter, Mrs. G. W. Kinberger at 111 Stoll (Ave).

I do not know what this granddaughter's name was. Also listed in the survivors was a Mrs. Ora Parson (or Parsons) as a daughter of Ellen - so I don't know at this point if this is a mother or an aunt of the woman that married the Kinberger.

Ellen Clark (nee Hall) died in 1936. She was a daughter of James C. Hall and Phoebe Ann Elzy. I am researching the Elzy family and trying to get more complete information on the Elzy descendants, as well as connect with the more recent generations.

I can be reached at: abcm191c@one-eleven.net

Thank you,
Alicia Woolridge Morgason
Elzy descendant
I'm not sure if there is a connection, but my great-great-great grandfather, Peter Gray (1814-1902), was married to Sabrina Parsons (1810-1897).

They had 3 children that died early in life. They also had a son, Orrin James Gray I who married Sara Jane Dutton, and a daughter, Caroline, who married SW Kellog. Later in life, Peter and Sabrina adopted a daughter, Alice. Census records show that Peter and Sabrina were in their 50's when they adopted Alice.

Peter was born in Chemny County, NY and died in Griffin, MO. Sabrina was born in Enfield, CT and died in Wood County, WI.
Mary Emma Parson (b. 1869 Missouri - d. 1901 Texas)

Hi, I'm looking for anyone who has definate proof of the parents of my gg-grandmother, Mary Emma Parson, who based on the 1900 census was born in June 1869 in Missouri. She was married to Charles William Boggs. My grandmother referred to her as Emma Parson and the 1900 census listed her as Mary E. Boggs and states that both her parents were born in Missouri.

I have found her listed on several family trees here as: Mary E. Parsons, Mary A. Parsons, Emily E. Parsons and Emiley Emma Parsons. I have also seen her parents listed as Thomas Jefferson Parsons and Mary "Molly" Tiller.

The 1870 census has a Thomas J. & Mollie Parsons born in Virginia and Missouri respectively with a daughter the correct age to be my gg-grandmother, named Emily E born in Missouri. They are in Monroe in Lincoln County, Missouri.

The 1880 census in Snow Hill in Lincoln County, Missouri has a listing for a James & Mary Bonjurant with the following stepchildren: James, Emma & George Parson (James was also on the 1870 census and Emma again is the correct age to be my gg-grandmother.)

I also know that after my gg-grandmother Mary Emma Parson died, her husband Charles William Boggs remarried, according to my grandmother, a woman named Anna. Online trees have given her the maiden name of Bondurant and a birth year of 1881. That maiden name is too similar to the 1880 census to be just a coincidence.

What I'm trying to determine is if there is other proof out there that the Mary E. Parsons on the 1870 census and the Emma Parson on the 1880 census are definately my gg-grandmother Mary Emma Parson.

I would also like to find proof of Charles William Boggs'g 2nd wife, Anna's, maiden name. Proof that it was Bondurant would really help tie that 1880 census definately to my gg-grandmother.

Thanks in advance!

Alex

Hello,

I can't help you but I want to say I understand your problem. My Grandmother was born a Parson or Parsons in Camillus, NY in 1881, was brought up by a Cobb family in Russell, NY and went by the name Cobb. Whether or not she was legally adopted I don't know. Searches in Onondaga Co., NY are very expensive and I'm not sure her birth name was Dora or a name the Cobbs gave her when they took her.

Jean

Parson(s) from Ireland in Cinti, OH - mid 1800s

I am looking for a line of Parson(s)s who lived in Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., OH and Butler Co., OH in the mid 1800s. I have a Druscilla Parsons Llewellyn whose father may have been born in Ireland. I have little information about him and some of that is conflicting. I know he married Anna Catherine Skillman in 1838 and their only child that I am aware of, Druscilla, was born in 1841. This man is listed as Boulton Parsons on the Record of Marriage but on his daughter's Certificate of Death it looks like his name is Harrison Parsons. That document also says he was born in Pennsylvania. But family sources say he was from Ireland and the 1880 census says Druscilla's father was born in England. Druscilla may have been named for her paternal grandmother. I do find some Parsons from Ireland in Cincinnati in the 1880 census but no Boulton or Harrison Parson(s). His wife, Anna Catherine, is listed so he may have died by that time. Can anyone help me with this man and his family? Thanks in advance!

Re: Kendall Parson, John Parson, Harriet C. Parson

Hello Trish,
My story is I just became interested in researching the family tree within the last couple of weeks, mostly by searching old message boards on genealogy sites. Before I stumbled on your old posting, I only had the Parsons Name back to John from a genealogy my uncle had given to my father. This document mostly focuses on John's son Levi's wife, Lydia Ellis, tracing her family back to Freeman Ellis who married Sarah Bradford in 1766. from there, it traces the Bradfords back to Gov. William Bradford, who came over on the Mayflower and was the first governor of Massachusetts.
This document doesn't list any sources and is mostly geared toward showing a connection with this famous ancestor, so it has sketchy information on the Parsons family beyond Levi.
It mentions that Levi's father John was "born in New Hampshire around 1800, lived in Cambridge, Massachusetts, came to Oxford County Maine, and married Polly Hanniford." It says that "Levi, the youngest of their 10 children, was born in Canton, Maine on December 25, 1823." Even before reading your post, I figured out that someone born "around 1800" would have had to start pretty young to finish having 10 kids by 1823!
Despite all the other discrepancies, I'm sure the John Parsons you listed is my ggg- grandfather. Polly Hanniford/Hannaford, Maine, Cambridge, son Levi....to many matches not to be him. Another clue: beside John Wilbur Parsons, Sr., my great-grandfather, another of Levi's sons was Freeman Kendall Parsons.
Beyond expressing my gratitude to you for supplying me with the name of my gggg-grandfather & mother, I'm writing to ask if you've learned any more since your posting. Who were Freeman's parents? It would be neat to trace the family back to the "Old Country"
