Lem Pascal, musician. 1908-1994

Hi -- I'm looking for information about a man named Lem Pascal -- Lem is possibly not his birth name, but it is the name he used with social security, army, etc. He was apparently born in Spain on July 31, 1908 (or 1906) and was living in the US by the early 1930s. He was a singer and songwriter, and probably played a musical instrument (perhaps guitar). He was in New York in 1934 & in 1942, when he joined the Army, and in 1936 was for a time in South Carolina. Draft registation indicated that he was not yet an American citizen at the point he joined the service. He was married to Anita K Pascal (1914-1990) and died in Titusville, Florida on October 20, 1994. I have not yet located an obit and do not know whether he left any survivors. It appears possible that he changed his name to Lem from Ignatius and that he was the Ignatius Pascal, born c. 1908 in Spain who is listed in Manhattan in the 1930 census living with a John Pascal, also from Spain, and old enough to be the younger man's father. I am not a relative -- this is related to research into his musical activities. I'd be grateful for any help -- thank you -- Kevin Coffey

actually I'm wrong about the flood. it was on the Long side that a sibling died in a flood, not on the Pascal side.

my great grandmother Mildred was born in Hardwick, VT. i was told some of her other siblings were either born there or in Walden, VT. Judy and Cristabelle were two of Mildred's sisters, but there were more.

Check Family History Research [Mormon library] for your ancestor. There is a copy of a manuscript there about this family. According to the story, this Pascal Paul escaped prison three times. He was to be hung. The final escape he disguised himself as a woman and fled to the USA.

The photographer in this family moved to Mobile, Alabama and opened a studio there.

I cannot find the file, but was interested in this family, not only because of the "Pascal" name, but also because I originally came from Mobile.

Hope this finds you, and will be of help.

Elizabeth "Betty" Marsh has copies of his work records in the USA. In the records he indicates he arrived in Panama March 1st 1883 and had a brother Albert in Marseille, France. For the French Company : he was an accountant at Culebra from 1883 to 1884..employed in the office of the Secretary of the Director General from 1884 to 1889, 1890 to 1891 Chief accountant at Ancon. He also states that in 1897 he returned to the Isthmus.
Hello. Saw your post. If we're talking about the same person, Leontine Pascal (Lee) was married to Edward Pascal. They lived in the Cleveland area, and then moved to Florida in the 70s?? She died in 1982 in Brevard County, FL.

Edward Pascal was my uncle. Feel free to send me a message and let me know what you'd like to know.

Rachel and Louis Pascal of OH and PA

My gggm Rachel Dougherty or Doty married Oliver Lindsay and had at least one child, my ggf Oliver Lindsay (1842-1902) before her husband Oliver passed away. She then married another man but no children. She married Louis Pascal and I think had three more children. She was born in OH of Quaker parents and moved to McKeesport, PA a good while before her death in 1894 at the reputed age of 101.

Two of Louis and Rachel's children may be named Armstrong and Sarah.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Peter Paul of Natchez MS

Some messages were posted here several years ago about a man who may have been named Joseph Paul Pascal and who appeared in the Natchez area sometime before 1820. I know that Peter Paul was in the 1820 census in Natchez, and that he apparently died there in 1829 at the age of 55. Then in 1830 Nancy Paul is listed in the Natchez census. Several have suggested that she was the wife of Peter Paul.

An early message also indicated that he might have fled from Europe following the downfall of Napoleon, although I have not been able to document that.

If you relate to this family, please contact me.

Charlie
