Henry Passfield

Does anybody have and information on the relatives of Henry Passfield (known as Tom) who was tragically killed in a house fire aged 28 with his three daughters. The tragedy occured at Northmead, Sydney,Australia in June 1955 and the girls names were Judith, Susan and Pauline.

Hi, very interested to see your connections. I did find the Pasfield connection in Barbados. I am trying to find the family of Samuel Pasfield who was transported to Australia in 1814 aboard the Somersetshire. He was born in 1789 in, I believe, Essex UK. His father is listed as William. Have quite a lot of information about his descendants in Australia but no confirmed link in UK. Would appreciate any information you may have. Thanks, Elaine

I have very little information on the family relatives in England other than anecdotal info from my nanna before she died and some vague information from my aunt. sorry.

My passfields originated in Essex too.
Ernest Passfield m Florence Pearson 1880's
Walter Passfield m Emily Chalcraft 1910's and migrated to West Australia in 1920's with three young children. William Walter, Alfred James, Emily Margret (my nanna).
They had many relatives in Essex but as that generation died off - lost contact.
Alfred visited a lot of rellies after he got out of the POW camp at the end of WW2. He wrote a book about his war experiences called "The escape artist".
An Aunt of my Nanna came out for a six month holiday in the 1980's. The Aunty was in her 90's!

Yep mums mothers my lot were from Essex but came out to Australia after the 1st World War. Many relatives are still in Essex England.

Ernest Passfield m Florence Pearson 1880's
son Walter Passfield m Emily Chalcraft 1910's
migrated to West Australia 1920's with 3 young children in tow, William, Alfred, and Emily (my nanna) all now deceased.

Our earliest known Robert Passfield was b abt 1799 Essex England, DOD unknown. Married Maryann Elizabeth Watson b 1811. Known child Jane Elizabeth Passsfield (b 1842 Limehouse, Middlesex) m Samuel Christie 1863 and came to America with first 5 children 1876. Other possible children of Robert Passfield from UK census records include: Elizabeth b 1834, William b 1847 and Caroline b 1855.

Any connection?

Hello fellow researcher,

I have been tracing my Pas(s)field ancestors for some years now and have got back to William Pasfield b. abt.1787. His birth date has been estimated from the date of his marriage to Sarah Sophia Ward in 1809 at St. Mary's church, Newington, Surrey. The had 3 children: -

John Pasfield b.1809 Newington, Surrey.
Martha Pasfield b. 1812 Newington, Surrey.
William Pasfield b. 1815 Newington, Surrey.

My problem is where did William Pasfield b. abt.1787 orignate?

These two generations had the surname spelt Pasfield, but in subsequent generations it became Passfield.

Willing to exchange information with any Pas(s)field's out there.

I am a direct descendant of Samuel Pasfield's sister Rebecca Callant, whose daughter Rebecca Callant married William Dixon. Would be very pleased to correspond on the subject of the Pasfields. I had wondered where the plantations (referred to in various wills) came from in my branch, though I think they had all been sold by about 1800. Rebecca Dixon's 3 x Great Grandson was Captain Samuel Pasfield Oliver who has an entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.

Samuel Pasfield was the son of George Pasfield (as you already know), died 1660 at Rotherhithe, Surrey, and Thomasin Hacker, died 1659 at Rotherhithe (her mother was Thomasin Hacker too, died 1665 at Rotherhithe), but I can't tell you more than that. Try me though, because I have read quite a few family wills of that time and any information you can give me may now make more sense of them.

Hi Ron,
My grandfather was Alfred William Passfield. He was born Sept 19 , 1888 in London. I always remember something about Lambeth as being where his family came from. My father is dead so I don't know what my great grandfather's name was , but I know that he was a Lighterman on the Thames River. Family mythology has it that he died fairly young of some disease he picked up from some ship. My great grandmother married a gentleman named Taylor who was also a Lighterman and sponsored my grandfather into the guild. Eventually the Passfields and tthe Taylors couldn't get along and most of the Passfields left. Some went to Australia , my grandfather emigrated to Canada in the early 20th century and Walter stayed in London.
Does this connect with any of the history that you have?

As executor of my wife's mother's estate one of the items now in my possession is a tree produced by a firm of professional genealogists of the descendants of Henry John/Henry William/ Henry PASSFIELD (1837-1921)and Elizabeth FRANCIS(1840-1928) of the Lambeth/Wandsworth Area in London.

The professional genealogists were involved as they were dealing with an intestacy of which at one time my wife's mother was the sole beneficiary initially. For a percentage of the eventual inheritance they would disclose the name of the deceased. As an amateur researcher I got them to agree to providing me with a copy of their researches when completed as well as a reduction in the percentage requested.

Like the professional researchers I have yet to find the marriage of Henry Passfield and Elizabeth Francis although I do have some earlier Passfield ancestry available.

Could information from this tree be of assistance to anybody?

I think I may be distantly related. I have a little information about the passfield family starting with my g-grandmother on my father's side. Her name was Minnie Passfield (1866 - 1934) give or take a few years.

Hello my name is David Passfield and I live in Canada. I would like to here from other Passfield's out there. Maybe we are related. The only thing I know is my father was Alfred William (?) Passfield who was born about 1885 in SW London . There were about 7 kids in the family. Alot went to Australia, he wnt to Canada and I believe his youngest brother Walter stayed in London.

Hi,
As you can see we share the same surname.
I was born 27-05-46 in essex to Leonard Alfred Passfield and Winifred Blanche. I had a brother Terence who was born the following year.
Terry died of cancer in 1992, Mum followed in 1996. Dad lived with my wife and I for the last year of his life and died in January 2001.

My gggrandfather was William Henry PASSFIELD born 1837 in Lambeth, Surrey, (father named Edward). He married Emma CARTER in Winchester, Hampshire in 1856. Their daughter Jane, born 1865 Southampton, Hampshire, is my great grandmother. Jane married George Alfred SCOREY in Southwark, Surrey in 1885, and her father William remarried to Ellen SCOREY, Georges mother in 1889 in Southampton.
I would be pleased to hear from anyone who may have family connections.
