I have a copy of a few pages of a dairy written by Mary Jane Pattison, who was the daughter of George and Catherine Pattison. This family took in my g-great grandfather during the civil war while his father went off to duty. I have found this family on several census reports. George Pattison was a school teacher who later became a judge.

Still looking for more info on Rev. W P Pattison. I am his GR GR grandaughter, through the only son I know of William Everett Pattison who married Fannie Mae Fisher. Believe his wifes name was Mary S Pattison. He is mentioned on a Bio sketch on William Everett Pattison (1881 info of Montgomery Co IA. Red Oak IA). Wm Everett & Fannie Mae had 4 sons all born in Iowa, I don't know if any of those sons ended up in Utah?? Any additional info would be appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Robert R. Pattison

I don't know if this is the same Robert Pattison on your list, but my ggg-grandfather, Robert R. Pattison was born in November 1830, in Ireland, don't know exacly where. He married Elizabeth Coates (b. Dec 1831, England). According to the 1900 US Census, he arrived in the US from Ireland in 1852. in 1870 (US Census) he lived in Kansas City Ward 2, Jackson, Missouri. In 1900 he lived in Downers Grove, DuPage, Illinois.

My line comes from their eldest son Ernest Samuel Pattison (b. Jul 1856, Ohio). He married Jennie Isabella (unknown family name) (b. Apr 1858, Ohio). Their third eldest was my great-grandfather, Clarence Leonard Pattison (b. 29 Sep 1882, Illinois) who married Ada Ruth Searles (b. Jun 1882, Shocco, Warren, North Carolina, United States).

Their second youngest of six children, my mother's father, Roy Wilson Pattison (b. 22 May 1914, Chicago, IL) who married Lois Catherine Brigit Donahue (b. 11 OCT 1917, Columbia, Tennessee). They moved to Jacksonville, FL, two living children (my mother and uncle) and one deceased daughter (d.1976), three grandchildren (myself included) and two great-grandchildren.

Robert R. Pattison is the farthest back that I have on the Pattison side of my tree. Have you found anything else since your original post?

Just a friendly hint - In the future, you may want to include in your queries whatever information you have about where the person you are asking about lived. This would be helpful to persons reading your post who, like me, have Pattisons in their family tree. I looked up your profile and saw that members of this family lived in Yorkshire, England so it is not likely that there is any connection between your Pattisons and my Scots-Irish Pattisons from Oregon.

Melissa,
I descend from this line of Pattison/Petteson/Pattersons. I will give you some information about Johnathon's father, George Sr. I found that was written by Norman Patterson in the 1960's. I can find no connection to your Daniel to this line (But does not mean there is not one!) Norman Patterson wrote several books concerning the Patterson's and formed a Patterson society for researchers to share notes on all things Patterson. That book can be found on ancestry.com here (if you are a member):
http://search.ancestry.com/search/db.aspx?dbid=12201#

This book can help you more than any that I have found on all things Patterson or any variant spelling.

Here is an outline of his father George Pettison Sr:

The Patterson & Pattison family association : a contribution of genealogical records to aid in the research on the names of Pat [database on-line]. Provo, UT: The Generations Network, Inc., 2005. Original data: The Patterson & Pattison family association : a contribution of genealogical records to old in the research on the names of Patterson or Pattison and various other ways in which the name is spelled.. unknown: unknown, 1963-1967?.

This section was written by Norman George Patterson pg 195 half way down.

George Patteson, the son of Adam and Isabel (Thurston) Patteson, was according to some family researchers, born in or near Belfast, North Ireland, and was five years old when his parents brought him to America. During the French and Indian War, George was a soldier in the company of Capt. Robert Letheridge of Pelham; Col. Israel Williams' regiment, which marched by the Captain General's orders for the relief of the garrison and troops at Fort William Henry at the time it was invested in 1757.

In 1751, George was the Constable of Pelham and in the same year his son James was born. In 1756 he was on the school board; he was the deer reeve in 1757; and a surveyor in 1761. He was allotted a church pew with William Grey in 1776; was "Veniue Master" in 1769 and was one of the "Committee of Correspondence" in 1773 and 1777. He served as Selectman of Pelham during the years 1763,66,69,70,75,77 and 1779. On March 29, 1776 he was chosen to be on the Committee of Safety. His name does appear latter than 1779 in the History of Pelham, but in 1780 his name is shown at Colerain, MA.

During the Revolutionary War, as one of the Minute Men, he was in the company of Capt. David Cowden which marched from Pelham on August 17, 1777. This is the regiment of Col. Ruggles Woodbridge at the Battle of Bennington, and George was released on Aug 20, 1777.

George, while a resident of Pelham, was married at Kingston, NH, Oct 2, 1749, to Margaret Gilmore, a daughter of Capt. James Gilmore. Capt. Gilmore was an officer in the French and Indian Wars and was a prominent man in the towns of Windham and Londonderry, N.H. Capt. Gilmore was born near Colerain, North Ireland, in 1702, and was the son of Robert and Mary Ann (Kennedy) Gilmore. Capt. Gilmore married Jean Baptiste and their daughter Margaret Gilmore was born April 24, 1724 at Londenderry, NH, and died at Colerain, MA, July 16, 1801. George Patteson died at Colerain on July 21, 1789 and both George and Margaret are buried in the Chandler Hill Cemetery at Colerain.

The children of George and Margaret (Gilmore) Patteson were all born in Pelham, but they are not all listed in the Pelham Vital Records. They were: James, Adam, George Jr., Maoni, John, Graham, and Jonathan.

Good luck,
Mark Pledger
Temecula, CA

Hi
Have just come across your post whilst doing a web search for further information on my Grandad. His name was Ralph Pattison Crowther born 1910. His grandmother was Mary Jane Crowther, who you refer to in your post. We believe that my Grandad was given the middle name "Pattison" after his step-grandfather John Pattison.

I know a little about my great-great grandfather James Hamilton Wilson Pattison. I have some information on Martha Ruth (Matty). I have nothing about Sarah Ellen, William, or Mary Gay. I know Mary Gay died when she was 10 but I have no information about her death. Maybe we could share the information we each have to fill in the gaps.
Linda Pattison-Erickson

Hi Ashley.

Just received this message. We might have a link here. My maternal grandmother Harriet Emma Pattison was born in Stockport in 1885. Her dad was George Pattison born 1854 in Newcastle-under-Lyme. His father (my g-g-grandfather was one Samuel Pattison born in abt 1831 in or around Newcastle-u-L. He didn't have any sons called Samuel as far as I know but he did have a grandson with that name (my grandmother's brother) born in about 1876 in Denton. This Samuel went on to marry a lass called Louis Brown. They had several children and I understood from my late mother that this branch of the family (who were her cousins) went to live in Buxworth in Derbyshire. However all their 9 children were born around Stockport around or just after the turn of the 1900s. If you would like to exchange more information you can reach me on katymort@btinternet.com. Hope this helps. K

MA Pattison

Looking for more information on Daniel Clark Pattison, b. about 1809, d. 1884 North Adams, Berkshire Co., MA. Daniel married Laura Haskins, daughter of Abraham Haskins and Roxie (Roxana) Safford, and they were the parents of Charles, Albert, Betsey (m. Edward Lloyd), Maria Laura (m.1 Allen Murdick, m.2 Joseph Miller Warner), Sylvina (m. George Marsh), and Melvin.

I recently read that Daniel was born in Heath, MA. There is a Pattison family in Heath & Colrain about that time that may or may not be the right one, so I'm also looking for info about Jonathan Pattison (b. 1769), m1. Nancy, m2. Sally, known children include Clarissa, Anna, James, Jonathan Jr., Adam and Nancy. Other than names and general dates, I don't know anything about these Pattisons, so if you know more or have suggestions on where I can find them, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Hi Kathy. Another message from me within about 5 minutes when I realized that you'd sent a second message.
Well there are not all that many of us who spell Kathryn the way we do. However, over the past innumerable decades, I have spent more time than I'd care to count trying to explain to people how I spell my first name.
I have added you to my address book and will send you a quick email so that we can converse off site.
Cheers, Kate.

Hi Kate

I know my Great Grand father was John Burslem Pattison and I have traced most of his children, they all apart from one moved to Bacup East Lancs in the 1880's. The other one James appears to have gone to Aston under Lyne. I did have a contact from a lady trying to find Pattison ancestors from Stockport, I will dig out her details too.

My tree is private because a distant cousin on another branch has spent a lot on research and she didn't want it all in the public domain but I can let you have access to the pattison info if you let me have an email address, mine is kath.slaughter@btinternet.com.

Hope we can find some common ancestors.

Best regards

Kath

Hello Kath.

I would certainly love to share information. PATTISON was my maternal grandmother's maiden name. She married my grandfather, Harry SEDDON in 1910. Nanna's family were originally from Newcastle-under-Lyme but moved to Stockport in the mid 1800s. I do have a large PATTISON tree built up and have made many connections over the past 10 or so years.
I would be delighted to share information with you.
Please get in touch again.
Kind regards, Kate.
