Ruth, There is still a lot of research to be done for Elijah Paty, but we are making good progress with the Patty DNA Project. I am interested in your statement about Sarah being a Quaker and that the church did not recognize her marriage. Do you have any records that show this or hopefully the spouse's name?
I will be glad to share info with you.
Sylvia

Trying to trace further information for Peter John Angus Paty (born in Canada in 1874). Married first to Georgina E Boslby to whom he had two boys Alfred Paty and Arthur Lewis Paty. Do not have Georgina's death date nor his marriage date to Jane Stewart Kinney/Kinnay. I would love to confirm if they had children together. Jane died in 1973 in Maine and I think Alfred died in 1968 in Massachusetts and Alfred in 1973 in Florida. The boys death information may be wrong however.
Last record I have for family is the 1920 census. Can not find any of them in the 1930 census so assuming name has been transcribed incorrectly.
Any help appreciated.
Abigail

Re: Elijah PATY (1775-1849), married to Ava Parrott b. 1772

Elijah and his sister were said to be illegimate children of Sarah. Sarah's parents were James Paty and Nancy Clanton. It has also been said that Sarah was a Quaker, and the Quaker church did not recognize her marriage, thus requiring her to give her maiden name to her children. Elijah and Ava had a son named John who was a Methodist minister. He had a son named John F. Paty who was my great grandfather. His daughter, Lillie Evarena Kight was my grandmother who married William David Kight. My father was their son, William Marion. His brother was John Paty.
Lillie died when my father was 2 and John was 5. Her sister Nancy died 3 weeks before Lillie. We can find no trace of Fannie, their older sister. She may have died as a child. Nancy married Ambrose W. Brown; they had 3 daughters: Zelola (or Zelota, age 5), Mina O. about 3, and Nancy about 1. I can find no trace of them, their married names, etc. I have looked for years. John F. Paty and Sarah C. Brown were last heard of in Lone Grove, Oklahoma in 1900. I can find no further trace of my great-grandparents, where they were buried or moved, etc. Thank you.

Thank you.
Elijah was the illegitimate son of Sarah Paty, daughter of James Paty of Halifax County, VA. In the Bedfond County records there appears a record where Sarah put Elijah and his sister up for an apprentice and it states they ae the illegitamte children of Sarah (Sally) Paty.

I have not started the Paty genealogy but thought I would just tell you that my maiden name is Paty. My dad (the last of his family) was born in Tenn and is now 84 yrs young. There was a great deal of intermarriage between Odom and Paty lines. The family is full of civil war veterans too. I will someday get started on the line. I am working on my moms side since they are people of real mystery. Little is known about her family. Paty is an easy name to find and we all connect - dad has stacks of paper work. He can connect to the incident in France in the last 1800's - the Dreyfus affair where a man named Paty was involved. Good luck.
Sherrie Paty Sell

We go back to Virginia in the early 1700's. Some of them did go to MO and AR. I have a database of over 7000 names but I did not see a Euell or Vera. I have some Roberts, but only a couple that could be a possibility. Can you give me more info. such as your mother's name, all birth and death dates you know, other brothers sisters, locations, aunts, uncles, etc.

Apparently, from records found, Elijah and his sister Nancy were both born out of wedlock and nothing has been found on their father. They carry their mothers surname. James Patty was born about 1705 in Virginia and had five children. I have tons of info. on his other children also.
On Avey Parrott, her parents were Curtis Parrott and Ann ?.
