glad you found the information useful, if you would like details I have your great grandmother's marriage certificate and information about her brothers and sisters.
Are you sure Esther and William's child who died young was a girl? I can find reference to an Ernest aged 5 months, born Indiana in the Federal census for 1910 and I cannot find him thereafter. As far as your grandmother's brother also known as Ted, could this be Horatio, whose second name was Edward? What do you think? Regards Audrey

Yes, that all makes sense to me. I thought the name Lee came in to play somewhere along the line. My grandmother, Esther, ended up living in Harmony, Indiana. She married William H. Nesty. They had 5 children, a girl who died young and I don't even know her name, Charles, Floyd, Glenn and my dad Frederick, called Ted. For some reason my grandmother had a brother that they also called Ted even though it was not his name. Charles had one daughter who died at the age of 45 and had no children. Floyd had no children. Glenn had 2 sons that only produced daughter. My dad had my brother who only had 1 daughter and I had 2 daughters. Needless to say the Nesty name will end with us.
Glenn was very successful. He had a phd. in chemisty and was in charge of the group of men who developed nylon. He was vice president of Alied Chemicals for years and later was vice president of a paper company. He also designed the fold that is still used on milk cartons. My dad was
president of the local bank. Thanks so much for your
help.

Your great grandmother Esther Peakman was the sister of my great great grandmother Sarah Ann. They were the daughters of Samuel(1791 - 1869) and his wife Nancy. Another of their daughters was Althea Peakman who married twice, once to George James Platt, and they had a daughter Laura. She was widowed young and married Joseph Lees and came to america, and this was the family Esther lived with. I think your Rose was Althea's daughter. Any help?

My grandmother, Esther Peakman, born in 1876 moved to America and arrived in New York on Nov. 15,1894. She moved to Indiana to stay with a family friend, later married William H. Nesty and had 4 sons. Her parents lived in Staffordshire and their names were Esther and Edward. Their sons were named Horatio, William H.and Ernest Alber. I believe her husband's grandmother was Hannah Peakman and that is currently what I am researching. I hope we have a connection.

Hello Lorraine and Audrey

I am the 3xgrt grandaughter of John Pakeman, through his son's Samuel's second marriage to Ann Cheatham . I knew Ann was a widow . with the maiden name of Horton. However I have just found out from, my grt grt grandfather Fredericks birth certificate that she possibly had another husband whose surname was Harvey.
Do either one of you know of anyone who is related to John Pakeman via the same route as me ie through Samuel's marriage to his second wife.?
Kind Regards to you both
Linda

Hi LORRAINE - Just picked up your message today - I am still researching Peakmans although the clan is now rather unwieldy and I don't get much time in the summer. I am in touch with one or two descendants of old John Pakeman so if there is anything specific which interests you please let me know and I will do what I can to help. My own descent is through two female lines, which complicates things because of the frequent name changes - one through John's granddaughter Sarah Ann (daughter of Samuel) and another through John's other son Thomas (the Yorkshire branch) and his daughter, yet another Sarah. If you can follow this and want to include us in your tree let me know. all the best Audrey.

I would like to know more about the Peakman family who moved to Kilbirnie about the beginning of the 20th century. My grandfather was Joseph Edward Peakman b.1894 and his father was also Joseph Edward Peakman born in Staffordshire in 1862. Joseph (junior) had two brothers John Thomas born 1886 and died in Kilbirnie in 1955. He married I believe a Mary Tait Young Muir. There was another brother who I believe was called William. I would like to know more about the Kilbirnie family connection.

Digging through the census and BMD records has revealed that my great grandfather was Alfred Peakman, this is on my late grandfathers birth and marriage certificate.
From what I understand Alfred Peakman was Alfred D.P. Peakman whose father was Alfred Joseph Peakman, whose father was Joseph Peakman, whose father was Thomas Peakman, whose father was John Pakeman.
Is there anyone out there who would be able to help with information?
My father told me that he knows of distant cousins went overseas, some to South Africa and some to New Zealand.

Hi Alfreida,

My name is Bonnie Cooke (nee Peakman) from Sooke, British Columbia (west coast of Vancouver Island, Canada). Just read your message on the Peakman Board, so I thought I'd introduce myself. I had some previous contact with Lorraine about a year and a half ago but we were unable to link up our Peakman ancestors, mine being from Yorkshire and yours from the Birmingham area. Lorraine had just recently posted a message though stating that she had found an ancestor from Walsall, Staffordshire. That is where my ggg-grandfather Thomas Peakman was born in Rushall, Walsall, Staffs. in 1796 before he moved to Spennithorne, Yorkshire.

Your brother Glen had also sent me an e-mail in October but I never received it. Anyways, I have responded to you both and also spoke to Lorraine who is going to e-mail her website.

Let's hope we can find some connection now!

Cheers!
Bonnie

Hi Lorraine,

Saw your message re your ancestor Charles Peakman of Walsall. Maybe now at long last we can connect up.....my ggg-Grandfather Thomas Peakman was also born in Walsall, Staffordshire in 1786, son of John & Sarah Pakeman (note the spelling). Drop me a line if you think we can connect up.

Take care!
Bonnie
Sooke, British Columbia
Canada

Hi Aaron I just read your email to Aunty Lorraine. I'm a good cussie and friend of your Dad William who had a home in the Hutt Valley. We went there for dinner one night. You must of been a little fulla then. I think the Uncle you are thinking about is Tyrone Peakman who resides in Sydney. My Son Rhys is currently serving his mission in the South Sydney mission for the church ( L.D.S. ). We did try to fellowship your Dad, as your Mum was not that interested in the church at one time. Just thought I'd make the contact. Thanks Glen

Hi Julie,

Read your posting re the PEAKMAN family. My ggg-grandfather Thomas PEAKMAN was born in Rushal, Walsall, Staffordshire about 1786, then moved on to Harmby, Spennithorne, Yorkshire, married and had a family there. Down the line, my grandfather George PEAKMAN emigrated to Calgary, Alberta, Canada in the early 1900's.

I have been in contact with a Jim & Ethel PEAKMAN from Calgary, Alberta, who from researching could possibly be 3rd cousins of mine. Ethel also mentioned about a cousin Dennis PEAKMAN in Coventry. I wonder if this could be your father's cousin?? Jim & Ethel were going to contact other cousins in England to try and reach Dennis. They have been out of touch with him for a while, but believe he has quite a bit of PEAKMAN research done. If you want to contact me off line I can send you what information I have collected here. I have not heard from Jim & Ethel for a few months now so will e-mail them again to see what they have heard.

Looking forward to hearing from you Julie!!

Bonnie (Peakman) Cooke
Sooke, British Columbia
Canada
mrs.bgreenjeans@home.com
I think Mike Peakman is right. We are probably all connected because of our unusual name. My side of the family is from Birmingham but I know very little about the paternal side except my grandfather was Bert and a tailor in Saville Row in London. We have connections from years ago with Dennis Peakman who was my father( Lesley)'s cousin. I know I have some second cousins in Brimingham but have lost contact with them.

I would love to hear from any Peakmans.

Hi all Peakman researchers!

I am trying to trace my husband's maternal family. I have managed to trace them back to Joseph Peakman (who was born about 1793, place unknown). At the time of the 1851 census, he and his family were living in Shelfield, Walsall. His wife was called Mary, and I think her maiden name was Curtis (hard to read the records right!). Their children were Charles, Thomas, Joseph. Thomas was my husband's 3xgreat grandfather.

Thomas married someone called Ellen, and they went on to have 6 childen - Ann, Ellen, Mary J, Margaret, Peter, Joseph Edward.

If these names sound familiar, please get back in touch.

Sharon

Bonnie

Take a look at peakman.freeserve.co.uk, I have now added my family history directly back to the 1800s. My father is researching this & hopefully will add a few brothers & sisters as time goes on. I will scan the Family History certificate that I have & send it to you. It includes a coat of arms & a brief history of the family. We may find a connection somewhere

I was born in Birmingham, so was my father & Grandfather. It is quite likely that we have some sort of relationship somewhere as it is quite an unusual name. As far as I know, my grandfathers name was James. You can view my homepage if you like at peakman.freeserve.co.uk, but as yet, it does not contain any family history. I have some information from the Family History Society, including a coat of arms.
