Ancestors of Charles T Pedley

Hi,

I'm trying to find out more about my dad's side of the family. I know my great-great grandfather was a man called Charles T Pedley who married Emily Smart in Chesterfield in 1911. They had a son Charles T Pedley who lived in Coventry before moving to Blackpool.

Has anybody done research on this branch of the Pedley line? I'd love to know more about it so please let me know. I unfortunately don't have the cash for the marriage certificate to find out his father's name so trying my luck on here!

Also any hints and tips on searching would be great - I've been doing this for about 8 months but still don't think I'm anywhere near expert!

In a 1959 Minooka Yearbook, I found 7th grader, Edward Clennon, 6th grader, James Clennon and 4th grader, Paul Clennon. Any relation??

Pedley, James - Blades, England 1833

My great-great-grandfather was James Pedley was born at Blades, England, on October 8, 1833 and died at Cobb, Wisconsin on March 9th, 1919. He came to U.S. about 1853 and when he died still had a sister in England.
His parents may have been James and Ann Pedley of York, England??
Any information about family in England would be appreciated.

I found Livingston living in Golden Glen Twonship, Lamoure, North Dakota in the 1900 census with a wife of one year and her 6 children (his step children). He was born in Newfoundland, Canada in May 1861 and parents were born in England. I know a little about the family but only this census of him.

Have you found out any more since your posting in 2000?

I am related to this family through Charles Pedley (James' brother) who came to Canada. Their parents were James Pedley and Alice Curtain. A Christening record shows James Sr. born 5 May 1798 with William and Mary Pedley as parents. i'd love to hear anything more about this family.

Yes i have the same Robert Pedley born Shipley 1st Sept 1866, Married Eliza Hollings 5 July 1886. I am married to Robert Pedley's Great Grandaughter & have copies of their marriage & birth certificates. They had 4 children Mary Ann, James Edwin, Ernest, & Florrie Ernest is my wifes Grandfather on her mothers side James, Roberts father was born 15 Feb 1818 illegitimate son of James Pettyt & Jane Pedley, Appletreewick I have lots more info. you can contact me at peter.stoddart2@btinternet.com

I have a Robert Pedley born 1876 Shipley died 1922 Idle ,he married Eliza Hetherington 1886.The Parents of Robert were James Pedley Born 1819,Burnsall & Mary Ann Parkinson Born 1823 Gargrave .
I don't Have any children for Robert & Eliza maybe You could help there
I have lots more information on the Pedley's going back to 1660

I've been doing my family tree and have found my great-great grandfather was called John Edward Pedley born in Congleton and he married a woman called Emme Cooke. Now I'm interested in this line because of what happened to Emma in 1906. I went this weekend to the Archives in Staffordshire and found that Emma died in 1906 at the age of 33 when her dress caught fire while making toast for her children. In the 1901 census it states that Emma and John Pedley were living in Tustall and there were 3 children Sarah Ann Brown (she's a mystery) Ada Maud age 6 and Victoria May 6 months. Ada Maud was my great gran and she told my gran that after her mother died the family was split up and she was brought back to Congleton to live with another family member.

IF anyone knows anything, could you tell me how this family got split up and who went where. Could you also shed some light on the 9 year old girl Sarah Ann Brown who was living with the family in 1901. The census states that she was a daughter. I can only think that Emma was married previously.

The most important thing though is know how the family got split up and where they all went, which kids when with their Dad John.

Also if you have any photos of Emma, I would be very happy to see them.

Thomas Pedley, Shoreditch, London

Does anyone have information on this Thomas Pedley? He married Charlotte Erden in Shoreditch in 1866 and they had one daughter Eliza (my g-grandmother) in 1869. Thomas died before 1871 census, but I haven't been able to find a death record, or anything before the marriage.

I am looking for information on the ancestors of Barlow Pedley who lived in Huntingdonshire, England around 1830. His daughter Martha Pedley, born ca 1831 married as his first wife to John Maynard on 19, November 1854, they emigrated in 1855 to the States. She died soon after near St. Louis, Missouri, there was no children to this marriage. John married second to Margaret Warren.

I am looking for family of David Donald born early 1872 at Hamptonwick, Middlesex to Alexander and Fanny Donald (nee Pearse). Brother of William, Alexander (Henry), James, Fanny, Christina, Ann and Isobel (Ida).

David married Lizzie (Elizabeth) Pedley in 1897. Lizze came from Orwell in Cambridgeshire. Both David and Lizzie appear on the 1901 census for Southampton. I can find no death records for either, nor any children.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I think we are looking at the same family
(james hanley and Alice Curtain were married 11april 1819 in Staffordshire and had 8 Children, Charles,emma, alice, williamelizabeth, alice and James.
I can trace the Pedleys but I do not get any further on the curtain side. Do you have any information on that alice Curtain.
I believe that the children were congregationalists, as the oldest son Charles was a minister who eventually emigrated to Canada and died in Ontario in 1871.

Looking for information on my G grandfather's family. Samuel Pedley was born 1812 in Congleton, then listed in Staffordshire, son of Thomas Pedley,a farmer. Samuel, also a farmer, was living in Henrietta Street Ashton under Lyne, Lancashire by 1880 - the year he married my G grandmother, Mary Jane Stocker with whom he had three children (Edith, Elizabeth and William Alfred, my grandfather). He was a widower and had had a previous family. Would love any info on that earlier family, also anything on Thomas Pedley.

In the house were my Greatgrandmother Sarah, and Children Alice, Henry, James and Alice Pedley aged 74, widowed and living with son James. Can anyone help.

He died in Austin, TX 20 May 1924.
he was born 7 Feb 1924 to Elsie and Harry Pedley in Port Henry, NY.
He graduated from Syracuse University with a chemical engineering degree in 1946 then spent 40 year career in the pulp and paper industry at Chamion Internation where he was vice president of manufacturing.
He retired in 1984 and volunteered for the International Executive Sevice Corps where he assisted the governments of Zimbabwe and Poland design and build pulp and paper facilitis.
He served on the Lakway, TX Municipal Utility District board.
Survived by wife of 30 years, Marian;sister, Elizabeth Casey of Bend, OR;daughter, Sally Pedley of Austin;son, Russell and wife Leslie of Lake Forest,IL;son Arthur of Santa Fe NM;grandchildren, Alita Pedley of Brewster NM and Andrew Pedley of Chicago IL.

127 Field Regt. R.A. was born 1908, February 20th. He lived in 30 William Rd. Walsworth Hitchin, had friends at Cheslyn Hay and moved to 329 High Holborn London in 1946.

Just received word from another family member that you sent an inquiry to, regarding Alice PEDLEY. She was my grandmother & was born in Aston. Alice did have a cousin Herbert born in 1879, would this timeframe be when your Herbert was born? I am back to 1833 with the PEDLEY line & so far, they've never been anywhere besides Warwick. Have you found any census info? If so which census? And have you requested any birth or marriage certs at all?

I'm new to Ancestry and would be gratful of any information on our wonderful family name.
I was told by my dad that our name comes from Devon where we were Lords ?
He also said we originated from Germany in the 1700 hundred's.

Yes it is Scottish. We have not found the exact links yet but always looking. My family came from Ireland in the 1840's.

I have heard of you and have often wondered how it became your first name. Do you think that your family had some kind of connections with a Clennon family. I have also seen the same pronunciation spelled a lot of different ways.

I look forward to hearing more from you.

My paternal grandmother was Sarah Pedley b. 1868, (married Isaac Card) of New York, daughter of Arthur Pedley (b. 1838) and Mary Ann Lewis. My first name is your last. Where does the name come from? What does it mean? It's origins? I'm an African American who lives in Florida, and I'm at a loss. I'm the third generation in my family with this name. And my son is the fourth. Save me from my ignorance. I kind of want to think it is Scottish but don't know. It seems we have something in common!
However, here is our version ...William Pedley, born Staffordshire, England, master tailor, moved around quite a bit. Lived for a while in county Cork, Ireland in Killonakilty. Married an Irish girl. Had 2 sons. One drowned early in life and the other was MY GRANDFATHER, Charles Arnold Pedley, born about 1874. William's wife became an alcoholic and died fairly young. He married again and had 2 daughters, Ida and Stella. Ida married a Jim Anderson. However, back to the story ... My grandfather CHARLES ARNOLD PEDLEY, married Edith Mary Cudlip, my grandmother. William's sister, Rose, was connected with the pottery business in Staffordshire, England. It is thought she married a Hammersley.
My grandfather, CHARLES ARNOLD PEDLEY and my grandmother, EDITH MARY CUDLIP moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia where my dad, CHARLES WESLEY PEDLEY was born as were his brother ARNOLD PEDLEY, and sister EDITH.
This seems too much of a coincidence to be different people. Please email me. I would love to find out more about my dad's family tree.

My gt.gt.gt grandfather, James Pedley (1770 - 1833) lived in the village of Mepal, married Elizabeth Moore (d1808) then Margaret Corby (d1828). His grandson, James (1848 - 1928) came to Barrow in Furness with three brothers, William, John and Joseph during the 1870s. William apparently emigrated to the US in the late 1800s - are there any possible descendents?
