I am trying to trace my ancestors who had the name Pee.

My nana was Snette (mis-spelling I think should be Senette) Pee born in 1896 in Liverpool - her parents were Annie Pee and Edwin John Pee and they were married in Warrington in 1891. By the 1901 census my nana was living with her aunt and uncle in Liverpool - my great grandparents are nowhere to be found. I can find no records at all of them dying or living anywhere else. I notice that many of you are putting different variations of the name together and I wonder if this has something to do with it. Any information or help would be greatly appreciated. I have found some Pees in Cannock and wonder if they were my great grandfather's family. I cant find the marriage certificate at the moment but think it says he was born in Cannock.

I have pictures of Uncle Francis and Sadie, his first wife and all the kids. He was my g-great grandma's brother. I grew up listening to my great uncles refering to the Pee's, their cousins. They all grew up together. Also have some group pictures. Ronald Bequeath has Francis' diary from the CW,its very fragile. I would like to see his war record. I visit the 11th PA monument every time I go to G-burg. His diary is so accurate you can walk in his footsteps at Antietam

I have been doing research on Francis William Pee and have a lot of information on him, including his obit from the Everett Republican and his Civil War pension file. I am very interested in any and all pictures, letters and other information concerning him. Please also check out the findagrave profile I made for him at http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSsr=41...;

Correction on the Pee/Peay connection. Seems that Andrew Pee (b. 1815 d.1865 ohio river), son of Abraham Pie/Pee and Susannah of Perry Co, PA, had moved to Floyds Knobs area, New Albany, Indiana, and after he died, his wife Catherine Leslie and 3 of the children, William, Mattie and James, all changed their last names to Peay (which appears in city directories and census records after Andrew's death).

I think this is from the distance in generations after leaving the motherland and the disconnect this family was having from their french ancestors. In America, the name Pee and Pea was made fun of, so some people changed the spelling or pronunciation because the original meaning and spellings were long since used. there could have been other reasons why the change. maybe a cousin from overseas came to the New Albany area with the Peay spelling and influenced the change. hold on, let me start up my time machine and go find out real quick... be right back. =b

I am just writing this message to say,WOW,I didnt know there were so many Pee's out there. I'm not really looking for anybody because all of my immediate family are here in the state of New York. I don't know much about my father's(Roosevelt Pee) family except that most of them live downsouth. So outside of my father I don't know any other Pee's. I never got to meet his parents,my grandparents because i've been here in New York my whole life, with the exception of a year living in Fayetteville,N.C. I also know about some Pee's that live in Florida. It's funny because I met someone online that lives in Florida and she said that she knows them,it's funny because I barely know them. Well that's it,any Pee family members out there that would like to chat my email address is ypookie2@aol.com. Peace

Cecelia Rebecca Pee (1855 - 1937) Sarah Amanda Pee (1860 - 1939) were sisters. Here is the limited info I have on Sarah.

Nickname may have been "Sallie" or "Mollie"
Born Feb 4, 1860 in MS
Died May 5, 1939 in Attala Co., MS
Buried along side of husband at Shady Grive cem, Attala Co

Married George W. Lord (date unknown)
Born. Jan 20, 1850
Died May 4, 1919

I am aware of only one child, George Newton Lord, who died Jan 9, 1895. Obviously they had more children but I do not have that information.

I know of another Pee Family researcher who has more info on the family than I do. If you contact me direct at tdavid628@aol.com, I can share her name rather than posting it on the general board.

I would appreciate any info you have on Sarah's family and on Rebecca herself.

Thanks

Sarah Amanda "Sallie" Pee was the daughter of George Christopher Pee (1824-) and Mary Elizabeth Mason (1832-1880).

Mary Elizabeth Mason was the daughter of Reverend Reuben Mason (c1787-1863) and Nancy Watson (c1808-1840).

Don't know if this is helpful (or if you perhaps already have this information).

Hope Coslett Pees
Seguin, Texas

Here is a quick listing of the Pee family in Bedford Co, PA.

http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&d...

Andrew Pee Sr is son of Abraham Pie/Pee, born ca. 1742 who was brother to my 6th great grandfather Jacob Pie. They all lived in Lancaster Co, PA, prior to Bedford Co, and attended the First Reformed Church of Lancaster (plenty of online records for them on Google).

If you would like access to my Ancestry.com Pea/Pee/Pie/Pease family tree please send me an email to richard_pea@dca.ca.gov and I'll send you an invite. I have over 16000 individuals so far for the descendants of Unknown duPre/Pie and Magdalene, parents of Magdalene (b.1738), Jacob (b.1739), Maria (b.1741)and Abraham (b.1742) Pie/Pee/Pea of Lancaster, PA. The sisters married leBrandt/Braun/Brand and Gurrier families. Abraham went south (using the Pee spelling) while Jacob (using the Pea spelling) and family moved to Nelson Co, KY, Knox Co, IN, Moultrie Co, IL, and further west.

I am currently trying to find any immigration records for this family prior to 1760, since the earliest records we know of are in Lancaster Co, PA, but show no records of where they came from before they lived in PA. The Peay and Dupuy variations are NOT for this family. duPre may be a possible variation, but was only used a few times in land records for Indiana for this family. The Pease/Peas/Pees variation was used in later generations for this family, and family oral history says that the original spelling of the Pie/Pea/Pee surname may have had the S at the end, but was silent, so was removed by the British clerks at the time to sound more British like. Some family says the S was removed to hide this family from ruling powers overseas, but there are no connections so far with that route.

We also have this family's Y-DNA online for those Pea/Pie/Pee/Pease family members who might think we're connected, in the States or overseas. Again, email me so I can add you to our family tree if we're related.

Possible names for our Pea forebear may be Jean Jaque(Jacques) de la Pie, duPie, duPees, la Pea, based on the fact that Jacob Pie (my 6th ggf) and wife Rachel named 3 sons John Jacob, John Henry, and John, which continued down the line for several generations. We know Unknown Pie was married to a Magdalene, because her name was written as being present during the baptism of her granddaughter Elizabeth in Lancaster, with the sermons being preached in French.

The DuBois/DePoy family is also connected to this family in the early years of Pennsylvania. Conrad DuBois/DePoy is the earliest person from this line connected with our family, his children and grandchildren married into the Maquinet side (Rachel Maquinet was Jacob Pie's wife). I've been trying to find any connection between the DuBois/DePoy family and our Pea/Pee family. There are no records showing these two families intermarried, and they lived very close to eachother, both sides marrying Maquinets around the same times.

I've tried to look into the possibility that our Pea family could have been Acadians from Nova Scotia, with the surname spelled DuPuis, but no luck there. Records of the DuPuis families that were forced out of Nova Scotia and went to PA show that they left soon thereafter (going to Louisiana and elsewhere as duPre's) and no descendants were shown to live in Lancaster Co, PA, where our Pea/Pee family is from.

Hopefully down the road, the Y-DNA can be used to verify family relations, but we need other DNA testings to be done by other Pea families to compare and find any connections between us.

Happy hunting to all!

Sorry for the delay in replying - I've been on holiday and then have been trying to catch up!

I have an Edward Pee born in 1820 - might be a bit early for the one you mention. I have several children for him but no Enoch.

I've only just started on this line (it's my friend's tree) so don't have a lot of info on them yet, which is why I'm casting around as it's such an unusual name.

I'll take a dig around over the next week and see what I can come up with. Thanks.

Hi There,
I have a relative, born in 1865 ish Enoch Edward Pee, he's born in Derpfields Staffordshire and moves to Pendleton in Lancashire when he gets married. I can't trace any further back, but I think his Father is Edward Pee, because his marriage certificate says so. He marries in 1886.
I did send for a death certificate for an Enoch Edward Pee, who died in 1905 aged 72.....I don't think he's mine though!

This particular Mason family lived in Virginia (have not discovered anything earlier Reverend John Mason (father of Reverend Reuben Mason) who was born about 1768 probably in Virginia and married Mary (last name also Mason).

Rev. John Mason was a Methodist minister and died January 27, 1803 in South Carolina.

John Mason was probably born in Virginia. In 1786, as a member of the Virginia Methodist Conference, he was sent to do Mission work on the Broad River Circuit, an area encompassing seven counties in South Carolina. In Fairfield District, he bought 400 acres of land and established a home at the crossing of Monticello and Glenn's Bridge roads. His church, Bethel, was four miles away on Little River; he gave ten acres of land to rebuild the church on its second site and it was spoken of as Mason's Meeting House or Mason's Old Bethel. He was buried there in the graveyard after his death on January 27, 1803. [From Mrs. Sam P. Bolick, Blair, South Carolina]
__________________________________________________________

Most interested in your Pee/Lord information.

Hope Coslett Pees
Seguin, Texas

I've been working on the my family tree for about a month, but information becomes very scarce prior to 1790. I am a direct decendent of Andrew, Sr. but I have not been able to get a lot of information on him. What I do know is that he showed up in Bedford County in 1800, apparently single. Also, I found an Andrew Pea in the Cumberland County census, along with an Abraham Pea (on the same page, line etc.). Could they be brothers? Also, Ron Rose's research states that he married Hannah Turner. Can't find her either. Can you help me?
