I also search for data, obituary, or any other public record related to said Francis Peirano. It is an odd story that F. Peirano may have passed down vestments (Catholic) or a habit (Catholic) of some time. Members of the family (a few generations back) had these vestments or habit and they were perhaps taken from them by someone, perhaps a Priest or some Diocesan historian. (This story is old and two generations old or more by the time it got to me....so please correct any info if anyone has a bit more accurate info of any kind by replying to this post here...for all to someday see...)

My grandmother was Serafina Peirano, I am not certain of the spelling, she named her daughter Rose Marie[Garifo] I understand her only sister remained in Italy, probably Palermo where their father an officer, i can't remember his name, was stationed in the late 1800's and where they settled. I know my great grandmother went to the University of Bologna. My grandmother told me we had relatives in Rome and other parts of Italy

My father's mother, Marguerite Teresa Peirano, grew up in Charleston, SC. Her mother was born in the U.S. (Teresa Bartucci) but her father's family (peirano) came over from Genoa in the late 1800's. I have found the family name listed on ship records. Have you found any connections to the Peiranos in Charleston?

Hi Gino:
Here's what I know about Francis Peirano. He was born 1829 we think around the Genoa, Italy area. He imigrated to Canada not sure the date. Married in Ontario, Canada 1856 to Sarah Smyth (Smith). Died 1877 in Negaunee, Michigan.
Have no information other then these facts. Why he left Italy is unknown. Possibly a brother was with him but haven't found any in records. I don't know if we are connected, but stranger things have happened. Let me know if you know of this family.
