Winfred Aaron Penick is my husband's great-grandfather. I have not been able to find any record confirming his parents were James Oscar Penick and "Tennie" Greer. Only finding various family trees with this relationship. Do you have any historical record(s) providing proof? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

I just looked again at the find-a-grave memorials for R. B. and Annie (Gipson) Penick. Those who are maintaining this are doing a very nice job. A photo has been added recently of Annie and her two sons, William and John. Annie's first husband was Virgie Hicks, and they had 3 children: Estella L. born 1892 in Texas, James C. born 1895 in Indian Territory, and Bertie S. born 10 Jan 1897 in Indian Territory.

James was married to my grandmother (Bertha McCarty) they divorced prior to 1954 & I have no idea who James married next. James Penick & Bertha McCarty had two children during their union: (1) Marvin Lloyd Penick (2) Mary Eugenia Penick.

About the only info I know on James is a birth/death date & that he's buried in the Oldfield Cemetery in Bath Co. I've found some connections to King Henry through other family lines and as much as our ancestors married each other's sisters and brothers, you may be able to make some sense out of it. I look forward to hearing from you or anyone with any more information.

Tina

I hope you are still checking this site. I have a Edger Cohen Penick in my files. I have him as having 5 children one of which is Edger Cohen Penick Jr. so he could be your Senior. While I don't list Louis Gerald as a child, I do list a Lucius that was born on December 4, 1916 and died in 1942.

I not sure where I got the information on Edgar, Sr.'s children but Edgar, Sr. was the son of Lucius Terrell Penick. I got that info from the Lyman Priest book, The Penick Family.

By the way, Edgar, Sr. was supposed to have been born in Georgia. I don't have anything else about Edgar, Sr. Other than the names of his other 4 children. My e-mail is wadleyv@yahoo.com. My boyfriend's father's name at birth was Gerald Lee Penick son of Louis Gerald Penick and Ruth Emma Garrett. Louis died in July 16, 1942 and Gerald was born the 14th of July. Louis Gerald Penicks father was Edgar Cohen Pennick Sr. If this is his line we would highly appreciate any and all information please.

Thank you and God Bless
Tina

Hi, Eileen Hensley;
I'm kinda new to Ancestry.com and saw your string of posts beginning with Edward-Elizabeth Penick. The Penick Family book evidently is not currently on the market but the White Roots book you cite might be useful. My ancestral Penicks go from Oklahoma back to Kentucky to probably Virginia; you can tell I've got a lot of research to do. Thanks for any info on the books or other tips you might suggest.

I am descended from Jacobs brother Alford Peanick through Benjamin/William D./William F. - all deceased.
Jacob can be found on the arkansas census along with his first wife sarah club - look for Anthony Club her father and you will find her family. Her sister Sophia later became Alfords last wife. Antony Club (Clubb)was a southern sympathiser also, He moved to Arkansas from Missouri and was in the grocery buisiness.
Jacob and Sarah can be found later married in Elkhorn Tavern, Ark. I do not know if she died in that area or not. Alford moved from the Platte Purchas (1840/1850 census)To Carthage in Jasper County, Mo. where he married Sophia.
Later Alford and Sophy are found on the school land grant records for Barton county, Mo. living next to Anthony and one of his daughters.
Jacob later was said to have married a widow named Dickson or Dixon from texas who had a son named Dan.
Alfords family moved from barton county to south of graysummit in Franklin County, Mo. where he shows up in Jefferies Almanac and on 1870 census with Sophy and 1880 without her.
There was also another brother John that married a widow with several children after her husband died in Illinois.
this brother also moved to platte purchase taking her had the stepchildren and step parents (Bolinger)along. they can be found on the 1850 census living near alford and his first wife Mary.

Hi Tina, my name is Melissa Poskey and I'm researching my hubby's family tree. His mother's family was Penicks. There are currently Penicks living in Anahuac TX, quite a few actually; and so far I've researched the Penick's back to 1660, and those Penicks/Pinix/Penix are abundantly in Breckenridge Kentucky and in Virginia. Many immigrated in the mid to late 1800's to the US.
My screen name I think will allow you to see my tree and you're welcome to any info that may fit. 'worldtree' or 'worldfamilytree.com' has a little more info than ancestry.com does.
There are also some Dobbs that live in Anahuac. William is in his 60's and he has two daughters, Kelly and Robin. Both are in their 40's or so.
Good luck with your search.
Melissa

Hello all, I am researching my Penick line. My gggg grandmother was Cassandria Penick married Lewis Pierce. The only verified document I have seen so far is an abstract of Thomas Penick's Will from Washington County PA abt 1825; where he lists his chilldren. I've also found record of the marriage of Thomas to Ann Almon. Other public trees seem to indicate Thomas is from the line of John (Mary Mallory), Edward (Easter/Esther), Edward (Elizabeth Hale). But I then find other referrances that seem to contradict this. Would be most interested in what detail anyone here has in regard to my line.

Thank you in advance
Linda McCalmont

I am very interested in your connection in the Chappell and Pennick families. My ancestor was in Prince Edward Co, VA where he sold land to: 1780 Feb 17, Prince Edward CO: Robert Chappell (note spelling change) sold to William Penick his plot of land containing 100 acres listed above. The sale price was eleven hundred pounds. Wm. Penick had been in the area since before 1750 and received a grant of 250A just one plantation south of Wm. Hall. It is assumed he had purchased Wm. Hall's plantation and now wanted Robert's land as well. Notice the price paid by Robert (L10) and that received (L1100). Part of the difference could be the result of inflation during the Rev. War.
My family left P.E. Co in 1788 so there may not be connection to my family. I have a copy of an old map which shows the land owners locations if you would care to have a copy.
Virgle Chappell
vchapp@aol.com

Hello, Apologies in advance that I am not a family member. I actually live in the home (in Montclair, NJ) that was owned by S.B. Penick Sr. I discovered old blueprints with his name on them from 1931, when he was doing a major renovation to the house. I am trying to create a history for this old home at 121 South Mountain Avenue, and was wondering if anyone could point me to info that might document the years that the Penicks owned the home (what years did they buy and sell the home, photos, other documents, etc). I know they later moved to 74 Highland Avenue, but I can't find any dates or other info. If this reaches anyone with interest, I am happy to provide any other info that I uncover back to you in return. Thank you in advance! -- S Glasser
