Tony,
Pasquale and Rosa were my fathers grandparents as well. My father, Bob Pepe, was the son of Joseph Pepe.
Rosa and Pasquale are both buried here in Wind Gap PA ( SR512 and Alpha Ave) at St. Marys Episcopal church.
My G-Aunt Nancy (Anna) had quite a few stories to tell me about Rosa and Pasqaule = ) She has passed quite a while ago now. She told me where they were from but sadly I misplaced that paper. I was so happy to see this post about them. Please email me if you want to concerning our family history.
This made my day!
Karen (Pepe) Giroux

I had an family member named Josephine Pepe that was 2&1/2 or 3 years old when she came here on the Titanic. Since they insisted on women and children in the boats first. I remember meeting her at family reunions more than once. She was quite old then. My Dad always called her "Aunt Josephine" I think she may have been my G-grandfather's sister or something. that would be Guiseppe Latona or g-G mother's Pasqualina Greco. If any of these names connect with anyone. please let me know.

Hi,
My husband's step-great grandfather I believe was raffaele Pepe. He married Maria _____ Nicolella (first marriage I believe). When looking at a few family documents I found a list of people who went to funeral for Anthony Nicolella and on the list of cars from the funeral home there was a Mrs. Grace Pepe. Ralph lived in Philadelphia. When I looked up the immigration of a Provino Nicolella who was also at the funeral he was from Bellosguardo, and I think on the Ellis Island site it mentioned his mother as Filimina. I don't know if this clicks or not.

Pepe family in Kansas City/with wife "Longo" from Sicily/Florence

Searching for relatives in US who lived in Kansas City, (MO?) "Sal" Pepe married my aunt, a "Longo"(possibly "Franca"). Our family came from Trapani, Sicily and Caltaniseta, but also settled in Florence after the war. My father was named Giovanni Mario Longo; another sister was Enza, and brother Pino Longo who died in early 1970's in Florence. Their Mother was Katrina, a very large and loving woman. I cannot remember my grandfather's name, but they came from Castelvetrano area more or less. Another sister of my father, whose name I cannot remember, was married to an "Uncle Natale" who lived in Framura, provincia La Spezia, Italy. Sal and his wife wrote to me once when I lived in Maine, but my ex-wife disposed of all my letters. I would love to find family here. My mother, Concetta Gamino, was second wife of my father. His first wife had two daughters by him....Maria and Biancina. I would appreciate any information if there are any members of my family still in US and would love to have contact with them. Sincerely rmv

My grandparents were Pasquale Pepe and Rosa Grillo. Pasquale's mother is Anna La Bianca from Capruso, Bari, Italy. I visited there a few years agao and found the remains of Anna. Both Pasquale and Rosa died in the 1920's ,I believe, leaving 8 orphans: Joe, Jan, Tony, Nancy, Angelina, Clara and Rocco..: My mother Philomena Pepe is deceased as are all of her siblings. I have been unable to find where Rosa Grillo was from in Italy. I suspect she met Pasquale around the Wind Gap area.

I do not know if my family’s name was called Pepe in Italy, because I cannot find any Italian information on them as I have been using the name Pape.
They were Pape’s in Chicago arriving from Celico or Sarconi (I can’t remember which) Italy around 1886. Michael was the father and Charles was the child.
Re: Pepe's from Calabria

I am searching for a possible Pepe/Peppi link in my husband's Italian family.

I have heard mention of a Philomena Peppi (sp?) and I am seeking a connection to the famiy name of Laino through this name. Some of the other names that MAY be involved are Scarella, and Ascolese.

Concetta Laino (her maiden name) became my husband's grandmother. I believe that her mother may have had the name of Filomena/philomene Peppe, or a variation thereof.

I believe that Concetta was born in this country, indicating that it was her parents who immigrated into this country. Since, she was born in the 1890's, her parents (possibly, Pepe) were born around 1870, or so. That would make her parents some of the early immigrants.
They were in the New York area, but part of her family could have continued farther west.

So, to understand the connection that I am seeking---

Grandmother was Concetta Laino.

The mother of Concetta Laino may have had the maiden name of Peppi/Pepe and the first name of Filomena. So, this would be a Laino/Pepe marriage that I am seeking.

Concetta also had a sister named Helen.

Again, the Americanization of the names indicates to me that this family was of the early immigration period.

Concetta Laino married a Ferrando, but, as this is the generation after the people that I am seeking, it seems less relevant to the search for Concetta's family. Still, I mention it just in case it may provide another link.

Maria married Amato Carbonara and they came to Connellsville, PA where they had 3 children before returning to Nusco. Do you have any connections?

Hi Lori, I am just researching my maternal grandmother's family. I don't really have a specific question, just trying to make contact with other people researching the same family name. My grandmother was Grace Pepe and she was born in Philadelphia New York in 1904. Her family was from Guardia Piemontese in Calabria, Italy. Her father's name was Frank (Francesco) Pepe and her mother's name was Mary Frances (Maria Francesca). Grace married Frank Maiorano and relocated to the Detroit, Michigan area. I also live in Michigan. Please reply if you think our families are connected, or you can send a message directly to my email address listed.

Hi, we're second cousins, Beth. I just emailed you. Our great-grandparents Emilia and David Pepe came over from Gallese (a region of Rome) May 1907 and our grandparents were born over here. They came over and stayed with his brother Emanuele Pepe on 343 E 24th St in NYC. I have info about our Italian relatives on Emilia's side as my dad has photos and has kept in touch with them. I'd love to share them. I'm in NJ, as well. My grandmother, Madeline, kept the Pepe although it says Peppe on her marriage licenses and didn't change it to Peppi. She had a chihuahua named Pepe. Little yapper :)

-andrea
andrea (at) andreabatcho.com

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. Since my last post I have researched the Guagliardi/Gagliardi family back to the 1700's. The name was Gagliardi in Italy. This branch of Gagliardis was from Cortale. The oldest know Gagliardi in this branch was from Davoli. Please advise more info about this funeral that the Pepe's attended. You can write to me at my e-mail address.
Thanks Lynn

I am not directly related to Pepe's, but my great-great uncle Theodore Sofia was married to Teresa Pepe from Laurino. Guagliardi is another name form this town, so there is a pretty good chance that your family is there also. I have other Pepe names which show up as attending a funeral in the Bronx in 1937. I am in contact with others researching these names.

Bob
