I was wondering if anyone can help me with my search. After reaching my great grandparents (Eliza and George) I seem to have reached a dead end already. All of there children have sadly passed now, so I have no way of finding any information on them. I know they had brothers and sisters, but I can't seem to find who they're siblings or parents were/are. If anyone can give me any information whatsoever I would be extremely grateful. Thank you in advance :)

Hi
I am related to Joseph Perfect born in 1749 in Adel who then moved to York. He first married Sarah Beetham in 1773 and their children were Joseph, William, John and Benjamin. They may have been other children which I am not aware of.
Joseph married again to Grace around 1790-1791 (following Sarah's death) and had a son named Lewis who is my direct ancestor.
My search is ongoing and would love to hear about your Perfect family and share information.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Sarah

Do you have a male relative with the surname, Perfect? There is a Perfect DNA project. I would encourage all who are researching the Perfect surname to try to get others to join the DNA project. We should be able to match the families that way. For information, go to:
www.familytreeDNA.com and type Perfect into the search. Best wishes to all.
Hello Stephen,

I came across your thread by chance as I was searching the internet generally for a William L Perfect who died on 06/02/1919 and is buried in Warrington Cemetary. Whilst some details kind of match I am not convinced it is the same person. Additional info I have is that his wife was Annie Maud Perfect of 40 Elizabeth Street Warrington and he was apparently 37 when he died. Again not a 100% tally with your info however it seems more than a coincidence.
The reason I was searching his name is that I have just purchased his 2 First World war campaign medals.
I would be please to hear from you further if you think we have the same man

regards

Stephen Abbott

Thank you so much for the information. I am interested in this family because I have been working on the McCourtie family since the 1960s and I'm tracing the descendants of Peggy McCourtie and Jeremiah Brown who were missed when a McCourtie Genealogy was published in 1908. One of Peggy's daughters, Viansa, married Ira Derthick, Jr. and one of their daughters was Helen who married Wayman Perfect. Your data has been a great help.

Richard Welch
Green Valley, AZ

Thanks for the info.My main interest is in the Storr family.Martha was the only one of 7 children apart from my G-father to have a family. as one of her daughters married a Perfect I was interested in tracing that line.Percy W Prefects father John Walter Perfect was also born in Norwich and was a Wicker chair and basket maker. I am still interested in tracing Jean Perfect although of course she may have married and there are one or two leads from the bmd which I shall follow up.

William Lewis Perfect, Warrington, Cheshire - born Malta?

This man is named as one of the parish casualties of the Great War in Sacred Herat Church, Warrington. I am reseraching these men and wondered if anybody could provide background to this chap. I am particularly keen to understand the Malta connection.

Lewis W. Perfect was born in Malta around 1887. It isn’t clear when he first came to England, but the first official record to be found is the 1901 census, which shows him as aged 14, living as 2 Princes Street, Plymouth in Devon. His father is not shown, but his mother is 44 year old Eliza Goodwin, a laundress. Lewis occupation is shown as a Bill Poster. Also there are Lewis’ brothers John, aged 19, and Alfred, 11, and sister Martha Goodwin, aged 5. This suggests that Eliza had remarried. Lewis is the only family member shown as being born in Malta; the remainder were all Devon born.

The next record for Lewis shows him as marrying Annie Maud Carroll in the September quarter of 1911 in Rugby, Warwickshire. Volume 6d, Page 1133. They had two sons; Lewis W J perfect was born in Cardiff in 1911 and Leonard J Perfect in Warrington in 1913.

His death in the Whitchurch district register for the March quarter of 1919, Volume 6a, Page 1246, records him as Lewis W, Perfect and shows him as aged 32
Hi Tina - I have only just spotted your message from Dec 2006 about the Perfects of Penn. I too am researching that line - my maiden name was Perfect. Your James who married Hester Winter was the brother of my 3xgtgrandfather John (1766) who married Mary Goost. I have the Perfects back to c1700 but have been unable to get further back than that. How are you getting on with your research? You say in your post that your grandmother who used to be a Perfect still lives in Penn. Would you mind telling me her name, and which line she is from? If you prefer to contact me direct, my email address is: annquelch44@aol.com
Hoping we might be able to share some of our info - best wishes for 2008,
Ann

Hello Jean - good to hear from you. Ada's father, Joseph (b 1846 in Penn, Bucks), was a soldier living in Woolwich Infantry Barracks in 1871. He married Betsey Bates(b 1847, Penn) in 1873 & they lived at 4 Cadbury Road, Bermondsey in East London. When he left the army he became a policeman. They were still living in Bermondsey at the time of the 1891 census, but by 1901 he had moved the family back to Bucks, and they lived in Downley, which is a village just outside High Wycombe in Bucks - about 7 miles from Penn. According to the 1901 census he was now a Police Pensioner (aged 55). They had 6 children, including Ada & Albert (bc 1879 in Bermondsey) I have loads of info on the Perfects which I should be very happy to share with you. Do you have gedcom friendly software? This is the best way to get the info to you. Contact me direct through: annquelch44@aol.com
Regards, Ann (I think we are 3rd cousins once removed!)

My grandmother was Ada Perfect. Her parents were Joseph and Betsy. Ada Perfect was a cook in the RAF in WWI. She was born in England and came to the US and worked as a domestic. While here she married James Dunn, an Irishman who worked for the Railroad. She had one son, Joseph James Dunn when she was in her 40s. Her brother Albert came to visit her when I was in high school, so I remember him. She had a niece in England she visited once, but I can't remember her name.
My father has passed away and I can't find out anything further on my grandmother's family. Would you be willing to share what you have?

William is the earliest Perfect family member that I've been able to trace. He was born in VA and Elizabeth was born in MD. Do you have any connections to the VA Perfect family? Did you know about the DNA project to test for family connections in the Perfect line? Amy Baker

One of the children was Henry Thirtle Perfect born 1819 in St Faith's who married Caroline Griggs the great great grandmother of Christine Keil from Essex my informant.
It is all in a book that André Perfect and I have just published called In Pursuit of the Perfects at £1599 + £3.00 p&p on p93 to 95. Look at the 1841 census for St Peter Mancroft, Norwich when Joseph is 13 with Henry, sister Elizabeth and his widowed mother Elizabeth, all greengrocers. contact me through the envelope on my website or on ben-ja@ntlworld.com Pat
