I am trying to determine whether my grandfather, DIEDRICH CHRISTIAN PETERS, was actually born in NY as he claimed. According to some records he was the son of HENRY PETERS, and was born 22 Nov 1878, in NY,NY. He married CLARA M. GREEN in 1908 in Chicago, IL, and lived there for about 8 years. He and his wife moved to Sturgeon Bay, WI about 1916. There children were HAZEL, HALE, DONALD, ERVIN, and DIEDRICH, Jr. (my father).

I don't know much about the paternal sides of my family other than that my grandparents were named Florence and Charles and my father had sisters named Patricia and Dolly. Patricia had children named Scott and Dana. Posting more out of curiosity then anything else. I was also born at St. Josephs in Burbank.

Hi. Katie Peters was my gran's sister. Her name was Johanna and she had ten children, one of them being my mum. Johanna's children are James (deceased), Joan (deceased), Noel (deceased), Liam, Ber (Robert), Kay (Katherine), Mary, Imelda, Breda and Anne (my mum). These are not in their age order.
I told my mum about someone trying to get in touch with family members so she asked me to send a message. She's 80 now and computers baffle her.
I know that my aunt Kay has spent many years building up a family tree. She's 86. Of the brothers and sisters alive, Liam, Breda, Kay and Imelda live in Ireland. The others are in England in the Midlands.
Hope this gives you a bit more information.
Liz

I posted the Zircle family on my site now. We always were aware of the ties there, but didn't have much info. Reading their material made sense. All were German and came through Pa as they were recruited by William Penn to come. Abraham came to Ohio I believe with his son(s) one of whom was Solomon. He was married to a zircle.

My Abraham Peters was the son of Isaac Peters and Mary Polly Coffman. Isaac was born 9/12/1785 in Lancaster Pa and died 11/15/1854 in Marsailles, OH. Abram was born in 1818 in Lancaster but did not have a son named Solomon or Abraham Jr. Perhaps in your research, you can connect Isaac with his ancestors. Thanks, Larry

I am the great great great grandson of Abraham. I live near the family farm in Guernsey County, Ohio. Abraham's son Solomon is my lineage. Abraham Jr. and his father lived near Malaga Ohio in Monroe County. I have traced the Peters back to Virginia and originally to Somerset County Pa. I believe they may have been mennonites or reformed baptist. I know some had moved on to the Lancaster area as I have worked over there and run into "family" ties. Anything you have would be appreciated. Tx Don

Thanks very much for the link. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any listings for William Peters' parents. I've hit this kind of "brick wall" a couple of times, but I'll admit that this one seems pretty well mortared. If I can determine who William's parents were, then there might well be a connection to some of the Peters at the Website you sent the link for.

Michael Peters

There was a John Peters, Sergeant that enlisted with the Captain Robert Smith's Company to fight in the Battle of New Orleans.

June 1st, 2012 will mark the 200th Anniversary of the War of 1812.

I was hoping to find out some background information about John Peters to add to our research project we are doing on the war. If you have a John Peters in your line that fought in the war, we'd love to hear from you.

Thanks!
Henderson Co.
Re: Mathias Peters in Westmoreland Co., Pa.

Hello all,
I am a descendent of Leonard Peters, son of Mathias and Eva Christine Koenig (King).
I have a great deal of information on Mathias's descendents. However, I cannot find where Mathias lived before 1817. My instinct tells me he is the son of the Widow Peters from Donegal (1790 census). Donegal is very near Mt. Pleasant.
Here are my notes. I did research the tax files for North Huntingdon and to some degree the Donegal area.

1820 census - 4 males under ten. 1 female under 10. 1 female - 16 to 26 - 1 female 45 and up. Possibly mathias mother. Living next to John King father of
Eva Christina.

1850 census - living with son Leonard Peters in North Huntingdon Twp., Westmoreland Co., PA.

1860 Census - living with daughter Lydia in North Versailles, Allegheny Co., PA.

1817 tax records for Hempfield Twp. - Mathias is listed as owning 1 cow
1818 tax records for Hempfield Twp. Mathias is listed as owning 1 cow.
1820 tax records for North Huntingdon Twp. tax records indicaztes a Josiah Peters. - one cow
1821 tax record North Huntingdon Twp.- Josiah Peters - one cow
1822 Tax record North Huntingdon Twp. - Josiah's name is crossed out and Mathias name inserted. - 1 cow

Excerpt from "Cyclopedia of Westmoreland Co., Pa." - "H.A. Obley's grandfather (Peters) was of German descent though a native of Westmoreland County, Pa. He was a farmer and resided near Irwin, Pa., where he died." He is also listed in the Old and New Westmoreland Co. as being born in Westmoreland Co.

Last name is spelled "Peter" in the Brush Creek Lutheran Church Parish Records - by Ruff, as well as, the Brush Creek Reformed Church records 1820-1858

I did research on Josiah Peters but could not find any more information. I would love to share info with you, but wish to do it via email.

I have Mathias's birth date as 1787, but that is based on the 1850 census.

Hi, I am a decendent of Sebasian, Phillips brother. I have communicated a little with someone else of Phillip's line. Also a decendent of Pricilla, their sister. If you find a linage of Mathias please, please let me know. My brother's middle name is Mathias. (But that could also come from Mathias' wife's side of the family).
Would you tell me where you have Mathias' year of birth. I have 1787.
My father was born in Irwin, PA 1902. His name was Abram Mathias Peters. Would you have any information on him?
Susan Peters Disser

William Peters of Sussex Virginia

Trying to find parents of William Peters of Sussex County Virginia, born about 1769. Married to Margaret (Peggy) Loftin 1791. Sons: James, William and Matthew. Reference for for him as a Captain of volunteer cavalry. Unfortunately cannot determine parents. Likely candidate is James Peters of Sussex, but no listing for a child William Peters in the Albermarle Parish Register, though there are listings of other children of James Peters. If not son of James, then who is father? Not son of Matthew Peters of Sussex as far as i can tell either based on fact that in his will (1810) he gave all his lands and possessions to his sisters - no sons mentioned, though a William Peters is mentioned in his will along with several other people.

Any assistance appreciated.

Michael Peters
