Panagiotis Petrakis Family

I am looking for Panagiotis Petrakis family in U.S.He is the brother of my great-grandfather.
He was born In Sinania Aigion Achaia Greece around 1880 or 1890.He moved to USA NYC around 1920 or 1910. He married Persefoni Karousou. They had 8 children. All in USA. Probably Beech Crove Indiana.

Margaret Petrakis, 82,
of Mt. Pleasant Township,
passed away Friday, Jan. 7, 2011,
at home. Born April 9, 1928, in Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of the late Archibald and Elizabeth Stevenson Nicol.
Margaret was an active member of Middle Presbyterian Church, Mt. Pleasant, and its Ladies Guild. She also was a member of the Red Hatters.
In addition to her parents,
she was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Hyland. Margaret was the loving wife of 30 years to William "Bill" Petrakis;
the loving mother to three children, Marty (Glenn) Magill, Robert (Judy) Janzef and Glenn Janzef; grandmother to Wendy (Pat) Cortese, Jason (Jen) Magill, Matt (Racheal) Janzef, Kristin Janzef, Dustin Janzef, Randy and Katie Hyland, and Abbie Janzef; and great-grandmother to Victoria, Jacob, Colin, Emma and Lily.
Also surviving are a son-in-law, Dan Hyland;
a brother, William Nicol;
a sister, Elizabeth "Tootsie" Fawcett; four stepchildren, Anna Petrakis and Robert, Kathy Petrakis (Tom Smith), Sandy Petrakis (Ed Sheehan), and William (Elaine) Petrakis; and six stepgrandchildren, Alex (Sandra) and daughter Kiki, Lydia, Greg, Brian, Nicole and Joey. Family and friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, 2245 Mt. Pleasant Road, Norvelt, PA 15674, (724-423-3741). Her funeral service will be at noon Tuesday in Middle Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Marnie Abraham Russell officiating. Entombment to follow in Middle Presbyterian Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant.

petrakis is my mothers maiden name..she was from crete..her father was from naples crete...his name was costas...he had a brother george...petrakis is a fairly common name there...i hope this helps...good luck

Hi Jennifer, my name is Jennifer Trageser. My grandfather's name was Peter Petrakis. He resided in St. Petersburg, FL. not sure if he's yours but he started in Indianapolis, IN. let me know is you need more.

My dad was born in Meriden,Ct 1916, at the age of 14 lied about his age and join the Navy. In 1943 at 24 he maried my mother,while still in the navy.He died 1965 in a vets hospital in wisconsin. How do I find out how to get records, or check out census.

His name is Frank (Nec name ski) Petroske. He was Cheif Petty Officer on a ship for over 20 years.

Hey!
My great great grandmother's last name was Petrakis. Her son (my great grandfather) came over to the US when he was in his late teens. I haven't the faintest idea where to start researching Greek genealogy, or if I even can. If anyone has any information about this last name, where they came from, etc., I'd be thrilled, but I don't know where to start on this one. Thanks :)

ps. my great grandfather's name was Kapsos in the US and Kapsanakis back in Crete (I believe that's the correct spelling of his last name). Thanks for any help :)

There are three main clans from Crete, Hania.
One is from Sternes, one from near Kastello, the other I don't know

Hi, My name is Jennifer Petrakis. My grandfather, Peter, came from Crete, and island of Greece. I think the name is shortened from Petrakopoulos. I don't have much more information. Hope this helps. :-)

My grandmother's name was Petrakis. We did have relatives in Peoria. My grandmother's first name was Helene she came from Voutianous Sparta
